What good timing! Our eleven feet of snow is just now melting. If you'll be involved in any public events here, please do post about them. I'd love to show you my Snow White.

I hope you have a wonderful trip! Montreal is a very special place.

Hi Ysolda! Ottawa, the capital of Canada, is a two hour bus ride from Montreal. Should you decide to visit, I may be able to offer you a place to stay, although I don't have a guest room--I live in a one-bedroom apartment.

Hi hi (she said, delurking after having quietly read this blog for quite a while!)...Depending on when you're in Toronto, I should be able to offer you a couch within walking distance of Romni Wools. Hope you have a lovely trip!

Oh I'm so jealous! I live in the UK but recently spent 6 months in Toronto. The yarn shops there are fantastic and the city is just so friendly and exciting. If you are stuck withough lodgings I can thoroughly recommend the Canadiana Backpackers Hostel (http://www.canadianalodging.com), really clean and cosy and they do pancakes for breakfast! Hope you have a wonderful time.

hi! If you're looking for a good vegan restaurant in montreal, check out aux vivres on saint laurent, just north of marie-anne. if you're lucky, you might bump into leonard cohen, since he lives right near there. also, while you're in TO, you should pop by the knit cafe on queen street west - it's a fun area to walk around anyways, with a big park nearby (trinity bellwoods) and lots of other cool stores too. have a good trip!

Awesome! I'm in Montreal, and I would love to meet you. I share a house with six people, so unfortunately, there isn't really any room to put someone up, but if other Montrealers are getting together for a knit night, count me in!
I also work at a yarn store called Mouliné (moulineyarns.com), you should visit while you're here!

I was in Montreal last August. I'm sure I don't have to tell you but definitely make the trek up to Mount Royal Park for a fabulous view of the city. I recommend Soup and Noodles (on St. Catharine's?) for some inexpensive Asian food. Tasty and generous portions. Don't know if you speak French, but I sensed some resistance to English outside of the touristy areas.

If for some reason you find yourself 4.5 hours south in upstate NY, you're more than welcome to our spare bedroom. :)

Enjoy!

Why Canada? Like, I'm just curious, why did you decide to go there rather than anywhere else?

I loved Toronto when I visited there a couple of years ago - the people there are so friendly.
I would recommend going to see the Group of Seven art work at the Hudson Bay Company Department store - it is a private gallery on the top floor (that is if it is still there).
China town is good too.

Oh, look - one more perk those Easterners get - a visit from Ysolda! Though if you're ever on Vancouver Island (British Columbia - go west and then go west some more) considered yourself bed-and-breakfasted.
