The combination of a horrible cold, lots of work and miserable weather has had me feeling rather quiet recently, but I think it’s time I found my voice and returned to this little space. There has been a flurry of knitting going on though and here are a couple of things I’m working on at the moment. Squishy yarns, simple stitches, and just enough red – the perfect quiet, comfort knitting.
The grey yarn is Artesano Aran in Ash with stripes of Manos Wool Classica in the much sought after red, leftover from the cardigan I finished recently (which I haven’t shown you properly yet). I’m making a little lap blanket thing, that could also work as a baby blanket, but in this case the only baby is me. The red and white is Jamieson’s dk, I’m making some much needed and hopefully quick thick wooly socks. All of these were bought at work on Saturday, when the freezing, dark, stormy weather had me reaching towards the most comforting yarns in the shop. Such a perfectly dangerous place to work!

I think you’ve got a winner, there!
I have been needing some comforting knitting too, but I do not work in a yarn shop! :) Winter’s coming in Canada too, our weather sounds about the same…Nice stripes!
So perfect–I’m dreaming of my Halloween costume, wishing I had time to knit it (I have the yarn, just not the time…):

Comfort knitting sounds like what i need now. And working in a yarn shop must be dangerous.
I hope you feel better soon.
i am afraid that jamiesons is the nicest yarn ever. i had it sent here from k1. it took forever because of some mistake but it was knitting bliss when it arrived.
and great customer service.
yay for socks.
Ah good to heard from you Ysolda! Even you got a big cold and that the scottish weather is terribly cold! Courage and take care! Wrap yourself in handknitted stripes!!
Is red your favorite color? I see red everywhere these times on your blog!
Your comfort knitting looks wonderful. There’s just something about curling up with a wonderful, warm garter stitch project. Makes me wish I wasn’t knee deep in complex WIPs at the moment..
Poor you, hope your cold goes soon. Gorgeous comfort knitting. Fabulous red and white stripes – a secret Hamilton Academical football fan, eh? ;-)
I too have been suffering with a cold and here in Toronto our chilliest weather of the season to date. Rainy and dark as well. All I seem to be able to knit is mistakes – how lovely to see your warm red error free work!
Feel better! I picture you all bundled up, with your toasty stripey socks on, and sipping on herbal tea ;)
