Someone’s waiting patiently for me to provide her with a dress and a name. The dress is the simple part (although stopping with just a dress rather than a whole wardrobe might be tricky) but the name’s proving harder – any ideas?
Oh and the progress bars in the sidebar? Those are a ravelry thing :)

Perhaps a little obvious, but how about Mary Jane?
She looks like a Becky to me.
She looks like my sister Emma, when she was younger. Really pretty!
Madeline.
You do know, don’t you, that whatever you call her, ALL the blonde ones will be known as Ysolda?
Claire! She looks just like the lovely Claire from Loobylu.com. Who usually wears more clothes :-)
Wow!! so cute, reminds me of my little girl Lily
Pearl (or Purl!)
Catalina, or Isabelle. She’s so sweet. Will there be a pattern for her?
i think her name is alba. she is white and scottish and cute.
I think she is called Dolly
I agree with Jane… she looks like Madeline from the books!!
To me she is Ofelia, the girl from Pan’s Labyrinth. She’s lovely :)
I’d give her a classy old-fashioned name, like Violet. I could totally see her in a purple calico dress.
I have always loved the name Neve…
How about Madeline. I love her shoes.
She’s so cute and looks like a Hazel to me.
If you wanted to go fairy tale, you could always try ‘Karen’ for the girl from ‘The Red Shoes’ (though she looks much nicer than that), or make her a little red cloak and call her little red riding hood?
Regardless, though, she’s lovely!
I saw Yazmina as soon as I looked at her..
She is really cute and looks just like Lotta (in Finnish) or perhaps Lotte.
Best wishes
Merja
I’d call her Rose. She’s adorable, especially the little red barette
I like the ideas suggested about of Rose and Ophelia.
I thought Alice as soon as I saw her shoes and then I saw Morag as soon as I saw her hair…
My first thought was Anneliese.
I think she looks like an Emily.
I, too, think she’s an Emily. Or maybe Annalisa.
Amelia. Don’t know why, just jumped into my head. Haven’
I just got a kitten and I named her Hazel- Perhaps Hazel?
Melinda. Definitely a Melinda. (If I make her, that’s what I’d call her . . .)
How about Miss Maud ? Can’t wait to see her all dressed up ! :-P
She looks like a Penelope to me. Or Penny…
I rather like the name Moira for her.
I think her name is Thea
Ho i love Moira name! But when i see this doll, i called her Amelia.
Good luck to choose between all the pretty names we gave for her!
I look at your construction and it seems always ingenius!!
When I saw her the names Emma and Madeline immediately came to mind.
I see a Caroline.
What about Posie? She would look so cute in a peach colored dress with her red shoes.
I also like Ruby and Miss Maud.
Good Luck!
How about Bea? Or Cailín, because it means ‘girl.’
She’s adorable, and looks like a Sophie (or Sophy) to me.
I spy a Josephine….
I like the name Agnes.
She’s super cute.
She looks like a Sophie to me.
I think Scarlet and I think she needs a mini Sylvi added to her wardrobe.
She’s lovely.
Abigail
Though I love the names Ruby, Emily, Emma (or Emma Jane) Sarah and Hope
She looks exactly like a Caroline.
I may have a slight bias, but I think she looks exactly like an Olivia.
She looks like an Ellie to me.
She looks like a Zola or and Elva to me. Those are the names of a couple of my great aunts who were fun but very practical, independent women.
Yes, she should definitely be a madeline – like madeline the rag doll in Bagpuss!
I do like the other suggestions of hazel and moira. I noticed a couple of commenters names – Camille and Abigail – those would suit her too. You are going to have a hard job choosing!
Heather, she looks like a Heathe to me.
I know how hard it is to find a name for a doll, and I guess now it will be even harder with all those ideas
^_^
How about Milla? She reminds me of a young Milla Jovovich, you know, the model/actress?
Bethany.
I agree with those who have said Madeline. Although, I also like Linnea – she reminds me of the character from “Linnea in Monet’s Garden,” a favorite childrens book of mine. :)
Eloise
The first name that popped into my mind when I looked at her was: Melanie.
Aw, she looks like my little cousin Irena Rose:

Capuccine. Today I discovered her, and I really think your doll looks after her!!!!
http://vimeo.com/833990
AHH! She is so cute. She looks like a Jessica or Emily to me.
Yolanda
Marisa
As its near Remembrance Day what about Poppy? Especially if she had a red dress to match her shoes.
Best wishes
I was going to suggest something else but, I agree with Gemma.Poppy would be a good name!
Carolin
I think she looks like a Greta. :-)
She looks like my good friend Erin who died when we were very young- just 16- so I think you should name her Erin. Plus it’s a good Irish name too!
She’s so sweet!
I like Mhairi or Andrina…
Poppy. Or Isabella. Or Elsie. She’s lovely.
As soon as I saw her she reminded me of Roald Dahl’s Matilda!
my first thought was – Clarissa
she reminds me of clara (from ‘the nutcracker’…the feet made me think of a ballerina on pointe) or matilda! she’s so cute, but the smile makes her look a bit mischievous too! :)
She’s darling. You could call her Mathilde.
I think she looks like a “Charlotte”.
I’m going to suggest the following:
-Janine
-Hazel
-Calliope
-Sasha
:)
Adorable! Her little red ’shoes’ are so sweet and merry, and since it’s so close to Christmas, how about MerryJane?
I agree with all the Madeline comments above, but you could run into a copyright issue if you make the pattern available for sale… perhaps Maddie?
Her little red hair doo-dads are awesome – I burst into a big smile when I saw them!
Prudence or Lydia.
Victoria
Nell
Emily
Daisy
Beatrice
Darcy
Peggy. Definitely a Peggy.
Looks a bit like my little girl, Ella – so, Ella.
Isabel
Michiko
Zoey
what a sweet sweet little lady. celeste, mayhaps?
She looks like my friend Magali, so to me, Magali she is!
I love the name Poppy too.
Her shoes and yarn hair remind me so much of my rag doll, Pam. But if she isn’t a Pam, she’s a Moira.
oh my gosh, she’s adorable! i love her hair and the little red hair ties. did you use a pattern or did you come up with it on your own?
Grace
She’s very sweet! You’ve already used my favourite name (Verity)…how about one of these:
Georgina
Rosie
Eve
Lydia
Zoe
Clara
Alice
Morwenna
here are my suggestions:
Lucy
Eleanor or Ellie
Daisy
Grace
I think she looks like a Lucy! Really cute whatever you name her:) Is this part of your cute “collection”?
She looks like my daughter Sydney! Here’s a picture.
http://bp3.blogger.com/_pLgyaer3Sn4/R1eHBTAtSQI/AAAAAAAAA6o/WaypZJIkY6U/s1600-h/IMG_4908.JPG
I will have to suggest Amelia, as that is the name of my BF 4 mth old neice, who I can see receving one of these in the future (or at least as soon as the pattern is released – you are releasing the pattern aren’t you?)
I say go for a whole wardrobe, I’d definetely buy doll pattern along with a complete wardrobe of patterns for her.
What was the name of the girl in The Red Shoes? Karen?
How about Gypsy Rose? She has no issues with nudity it seems, because all she needs is her personality! She’s a charmer.
I like Poppy too. Or possibly Harriet? What about Henrietta? Lucy was a good suggestion too.
I’m totally fond of her ^_^
She’s really really sweet ^_^
And why not **Rose** ?
I like she looks like an Amelie. I love that movie!
One vote for Elsie
Emilia or Opal, I think.
She’s such a dear girl and if she were mine she’d be Milly – or maybe Harriet – or just maybe Amelie.
Will this be a new pattern for sale – please?
She definitely looks like a Samantha to me.
Dolly also sprang to my mind and Poppy is great, but my favorite is: Dorothy! My flatmates always call me this, when I wear red shoes… and somewhere over the rainbow, your gorgeous girl might come alive. ;o)
I have a pretty German name to give away: Leni – my daughter’s name. She loves red shoes. And dresses. Maria
My first thoughts were Poppy and Caroline or on reflection possibly Dora
It’s funny how the same names pop out to so many people – I’m sure there’s some sort of sociological conclusion to be drawn from which names come from which parts of the world.
I’m not sure why, but I really like the name Leigh. I think that she is a Genevieve, though.
Oh my God, this is just about the cutest thing ever!!!!! Im having a daughter in Feb whom I will name Violet who I would looooove to knit this for!!! Pattern soon?
She is gorgeous. Scarlett …. or Rosa maybe. I REALLY want to make this for my little girl.
As soon as I saw her, I thought she looked like an Else/Elsa. So cute, btw.
Jenny, to me. But I liked Moira and Alba too. Isn’t weird how a good 75% seem to favour names ending in an eee sound? Girly names do, I guess.
I think that her name is Beth :)
She looks like a Dorothy Joy. That was my mother’s name.
I think her name should be Liesl or Posie (although that might be a bit confusing in the pattern selling department!).
Imogen.
Since your name (by a different spelling) was used by Shakespeare, the name that Shakespeare made up/ adapted from the Gaelic Irish word for ‘girl’ seems to fit somehow.
for some reason she reminds me of the movie Amelie…. go figure
Mary Jane, to go with the shoes.
But then, I thought Betsy and Beth at first….
Either way, she’s adorable, and I think she DESERVES a whole wardrobe!
She seems serious and sweet, so my suggestion is Miriam.
Poppy?
I really love her, and hope there will be a pattern. As for the name, well geez, with ruby red slippers like those she’s gotta be …. Dorothy!!!
Mathilda! It was the first name that popped into my head. She’s so cute!
Bernadette aka Bernie
I’d call her Ruby, for her shoes.
Elsa?
Perette!
She’s adorable, no matter what her name may be…
AYKM???!!!! I wish this pattern had been done and available a month ago. My niece would LOVE this for Christmas – but I made her a bunny instead. Oh well, maybe for her birthday??!!!
SO PRETTY!!!!!
And I like the name Emily. Or Violet.
Miel (French for “honey”) because she looks like a cute little French girl and she is as sweet as honey!
what about Edelweiss? I knew a girl named that, and i always thought it was a beautiful name.
She is so cute! I think she looks like a Ramona, though I’m also quite partial to Delphine.
Babette!
I second Imogen! or Lotte. :)
My three year-old, Ruby, suggests her own name. Or Sally. Or Violet. Or Sophie.
Okay, crazy bit. Somebody suggested my name of Thea, which is crazy because my name is weird and I kind of look like the doll with my short, dark hair and pale skin.
But I was going to suggest Ella.
And I love red shoes.
Weird.
Matilda
Given her Scottish origins I think she probably has to be Fiona, or perhaps Fenella.
But if we’re going with Ysolda’s designs maybe Iseult?
She looks like an Esther to me. :)
I ordinarily wouldn’t do this sort of thing but she totally looks like my kid. See for yourself.
http://flickr.com/photos/51674556@N00/2147068593/
Her name is Lola. The kid’s, that is. The doll’s should be too, I think.
kate?
or mimi.
well of course I’d pick my daughter’s name … Matilda Lou
How about Sadie?
I vote for naming her Georgie!
I really like Anna-Marie! But all the other suggestions are so good, too…
My 15 yr old daughter is insisting she’s a Moe or Mollie, until I told her she reminds me of Kikki of the animated movie, Kikki’s Delivery Service. All she’s missing is a red bow in her hair, a black dress, a broom and a black cat. :)
Has anyone mentioned Gwennie? I always liked that name.
how about Yvette?
Mary Ann!
(Sorry if this was suggested already; I didn’t want to risk being influenced by the comments!)
Alternatively, she could be the Other Coraline.
so cute!! she is a little Dita
I think she is a Isla
She looks like a Mindy to me!
She is a very cute little sugarplum…….
How about Arwen?
Raglan. Or, Raglyn.
Jasmine, which is my daughter’s name. Or Erin, which is what I would have called my second son, had he been a girl.
She reminds me of Matilda. The movie Matilda had a charming little girl in it who had magical powers that she used to help the adults in her life see common sense.
Her red shoes remind me of Emily (or Émilie), a French Dick Bruna-esque cartoon from the 1980’s about a girl who only wears red.
Enid Blytons Amelia Jane.
How about Veronica or Marsailidh?
May
Pollyanna from the childrens novel by Eleanor H Porter.
Podría ser prima de la mía. Se parecen mucho a pesar de no estar hechas igual.
Se parecen mucho a pesar de no estar hechas igual.
Se parece mucho a la mía a pesar de no estar hechas igual.
Marguerite
Layla. or Hazel. She’s adorable. Love the hair.
She is a Tansey
Ruby!
She looks like a Coraline :)
She’s a Kirsty!
Or maybe Mhairi-Anne
Or Ruby Rose – to be honest – she does look like a Ruby Rose with her red ribbons and all!
Mx
Anouk, perhaps? Or Annika? Or maybe something less fancy, like Ivy.
To me she looks like Annie Apple, what with her red shoes and barrette. And from the sidebar it looks like she’s got a red dress as well, so that’s that for me.
How about a nice Scottish name, like Bonnie or Kenzie.
She reminds me of Ramona from the Beverly Cleary books. The name Penelope comes to mind, as does Emma, Elizabeth and Pamela.
what a sweet doll! so many names to chose from. what or who was your inspiration to make her? maybe use that name in tribute?
i’m sure you’ll pick the perfect name!
:D
How about Felicity? She seems happy and full of luck.
Definitely a Liliane!
How about Arlin?
I used to name a doll by my own name because her hair looks like mine :) how narcissistic is that!
Why is nobody ever thinking of Yvonne?
