Sorry – didn’t mean to disappear for so long! I’ve been busy settling back into home and catching up with friends and family.

Eating dinner at my own kitchen table, with a book of course.

Remembering how to cook, there have been a few strange messes (I’ve forgotten the baking powder in cakes twice) but some successes too.

Unpacking treasures I’d forgotton about – this one is from Little Flower Designs, I bought it at the little craft fair I visited in Baltimore.

Dealing with boxes of yarn and winding a few hanks on my fancy new ball winder.

Ready to work on some new things.

and a secret project

that I can only show you a little glimpse of.

Travelling has been a wonderful motivation to de-clutter and organise, but there have been many, many piles like this in the process and my studio is still rather chaotic, although it’s a little better than this now

and it does have a cute doorstop.

Hand delivering a book to an old knitting friend, back in Edinburgh for just a short time happily timed so that I got to see her.

Hanging out with friends, including Sarah with new projects from my patterns to show me - her dk weight Liesl and the Yarn Forward scarf (a few people have asked about buying this online – I’m so glad that you’re interested in this but for the moment the only option is to find the magazine, contractually I can republish it after 6 months so look out for it in a few months).

Is that the hedgehog? Sooo cute!!
Hedgehog? Pinecone? I suppose I should put my money on hedgehog. :-)
gosh your gorgeous patterns are so inspiring. i’m a complete beginning but i do love the way, stitch-by-stitch, my knitting makes me really present. It’s a slow and nourishing practice. can’t wait to by your book x
Hi Ysolda. I am curious, what software are you using in the picture of the chart?
Is that pink dress from Target? I keep seeing it online but I had no luck finding it when I was in the States a couple of weeks ago.
Welcome home! It’s nice that you’re settling in again–that readjustment is always tricky. Hooray for Sarah too, both of those items look great (online and on person!)
:)
Welcome home!
I love your studio – it looks like you’re happy to be back.
can’t wait for your latest creations online.
:)
Glad to see you’re home and settling in. It was so nice meeting you at The Point and hope you’ll be back again soon. Seems your visit started a massive Ishbel craze because I’m seeing it everywhere in all different sizes!
missing baking soda/powder = need more sleep, more cafffiene, or both! lol what an adorable hedgehog. yarn forward is a difficult mag to find in my area as only one store stocks it & then only 2-3 copies at a time. your studio messy looks better than front room at any time! glad you’re all settled & back into your groove.
It must be lovely to be home after being away so long. I like your studio and it looks like a nice old building you live in. Sarah’s Liesl is very pretty; I’ll have to keep that in mind for a future project.
is that a hedgehog??!! Love it. Can’t wait for that pattern. welcome back!
Gorgeous studio! Inspiring knits! Lovely blog.
Welcome home. I hope you are enjoying getting back into your routine! :)
love the liesl scarf sure hope you re publish it great that you are back home again
a hedgehog made without fun fur! brilliant!
Coming home after a long and interesting break can be so much fun. I love those little rediscoveries and it can be an inspiration to shake some things up at home.
The baking power however…
my english is not good, but i wish to say you that your blog is marvellous, and it is a inspiration for me. i read you every day and your creations are fantastic.
thank you very much for your lovely blog.
I love the hedgehog – looks like it would be a fun friend for Elijah.
Welcome home — I hope you enjoyed your travels here in the U.S.! I’m just finishing up Sophie for a friend — I think a hedgehog would be a great companion. And your workspace is inspiring!
Welcome home! I love your hedgehog and your doorstop. I wonder if the hedgehog could be filled with something heavy and be used as a doorstop himself? That would be a little mean, I guess. He’d probably want a life with less work!
Welcome back Ysolda! Your designs looking interesting especially with the three needles knitting! I look forward to see your creative designs!
What is the pizza sitting on? I thought it was some kind of stone (for baking) but my boyfriend thinks it’s a tablecloth. Mystery!
HOW exciting!! Is that a little hedgie I see in the making?! Can barely contain myself at the mention of new designs and patterns :D It looks blissful to be settling back in at home and reacquainting with all your lovely homely things, spiced with mementos from exotic places :)
I love the way you can scenes which might be mundane in anyone else’s eyes into the most gorgeous photos. What a great eye you have!
Ahhh! Love the hedgehog!
That room in your house is beautiful! Even if you say it’s cluttered, it is still a tiny sliver of a dream home for me. Lovely!
Also, ballwinder!
I really enjoy your blog, your photos, your studio and especially your lovely designs. I am sorry that I missed your visit to Fresh Purls in Providence, RI, my LYS, in May, but I am loving Whimsical Little Knits immensely! Liesl is in my Ravelry queue, and as a real hedgehog owner (her name is Truffle) and collector of all things hedgie, I can’t wait to see the finished version (and hopefully pattern) of your hedgehog in progress. Already he/she is super cute!
I’m awfully glad I managed to be home when you were home too! And thank you again for the book – Must.finish.current.project so I can dive in.
See you next July…
xx
