The winter Twist Collective is up and features a new pattern of mine, the Farinelli opera gloves. I have a terrible habit of mailing off samples without photographing them, but this time I remembered. They’re very silly, somehow taking photos of yourself in opera gloves is inherently silly, but hopefully they amuse you!

Much as I love the drama of opera gloves, they might not be wearable in every situation. Don’t worry if you like these but aren’t sure whether they’ll work for you – I’m currently knitting up a shorter, fingerless pair that I’m in love with so I’ll share the very simple modifications for those here soon.

You’ve just made Opera seem inherently cute and very accessible – I love these, (esp the fingerless version I’ve just seen at WLK2 book launch in Jelly, Reading)

How cute would those be with a saucy little black dress? I’ll have to make them to wear to my friend’s annual Christmas party!

Could you be any cuter? I think not.

I’m one of those sorts which loves to dress dramatically, and I must make these! Thank you.

I’d love to see the look on my friends faces if I were to wear that in public! Nevertheless, they are beautiful and I would consider knitting them just for the fun of knitting them – and take pictures for my bloggy!

Totally wearable — 3/4 sleeves are in and my forearms get cold……

beautiful gloves – did you name them after the castrato? I loved that film :o) Haven’t seen it in years – might have to add the pattern to my wish list and the film to my LoveFilm list.

The pictures are adorable! And the gloves look oh-so-wearable, as Kelly said, to office holiday parties.

Girl, how the heck do you do it? Every time I think, “That’s it. That’s her best pattern,” you come up with one even better. These gloves are marvelous and you look marvelous in them.

Will we see you in Maryland this year? Hope so! Meeting you was such a surprise last year. It’s one of my favorite stories–I tell it whenever anyone complains about the lines to the bathroom.

Ack, they are adorable! The color is incredible. If you go over the top, might as well make it RED.

Love!! I’m a big Baroque opera nerd, so I absolutely have to make these. :) They’ll be great for dressing up for our more formal choir performances (the fingerless version will be best for turning pages). Perhaps in silver…

I feel compelled to be silly when I’m taking pictures of myself – perhaps it is the lack of visible audience?

I love those gloves but will probably wait for the fingerless mods before I make them up – I wear fingerless mitts all the time at work in the winter.

Something weird: I first found your blog when I was searching for opera length (fingerless) glove for my wedding three years ago.

I have to thank you for creating such a lovely pattern, no matter how silly, with the Cherry Coloured Twist.
It is always gratifying to see ones work put to good use. The colour in your images is so good too, r ed is always so difficult to photograph. Ask me how I know!
This morning when I was washing the latest batch of yarn I was wondering if you too were aware of the connection you have knit between our small Pyrenean workshop and your Edinburgh home.
I wish you much success with the pattern and its shorter offspring.

Some silly opera-glove pictures were just what I needed tonight. I don’t know how you managed to find matching lipstick, but the colors are perfect. Thank you for making me smile!

I have just been thinking how i love the 50’s look of a 3/4 length sleeve with long gloves that are scrunched down a bit and then I got the Twist Collective email about the new issue and saw these! They are perfect! Thank you Ysolda!

And the pictures are wonderfully silly!

Fantastic Gloves! I’ve still to knit up a pair of Veyla’s but these are gorgeous. Perhaps they can wait until autumn. The idea of wearing gloves right now is making my palms sweat. nice.

Love the pictures. So red, sooo good. The lippy is a great colour. What do you wear?
