Urban Snowmen

by ysolda on December 24, 2009

This afternoon I had to walk into town for an appointment and took my camera with me.

The canal is frozen,

and I’m very, very glad I bought these expensive wellies and for the woolly socks inside them.

After just a few days it seems like the places I walk past so frequently have always been trimmed with fleece.

Best of all there are snowmen everywhere.

It’s making the city pretty, but I do hope that if you’re experiencing the snow that you’re getting to enjoy it – safe, warm and with those you love.

the snowmen are so cute and everywhere it looks like, on the side walks in the parks. wish there was snow here. maybe not that much but wishful thinking for at least cooler temp. For the frozen canal pic it took me a second before reading the explanation what kind of cars or caravans those were. Happy Christ-mas

Lovely pictures and I really agree about wellies- they rule at the moment! I got some Spats boots (http://spats-boots.com/about_us/spatz_product_sheet.pdf) a couple of years ago and I love them!

Snow makes Christmas so pretty doesn’t it? We’re having a Crispy White Christmas. Last night it rained on top of the snow and then the rain froze. Now the ice is crackling and tinkling – nature’s music of the season!

So cute! I don’t know when the last time I saw a snowman was – probably 6-8 years ago – though we get plenty of snow in Wisconsin.

Love the snowmen. Love the photos!

Somebody built a very cute one near where I am right now (D.C.) and festooned it with celery and corks. It’s been cracking me up ever since we got here. I might go out and add later this evening… :)

It was a sunny and extremely comfy 20C in my part of Australia, today, with almost 15 hours of sun ;) No snowmen for me, though!

Love the photos of Edinburgh blanketed in snowy fleece. We broke a record for the coldest temp on Dec 26 and had a foot of snow to boot! Lots of snowmen here!

Hi, just found your blog, and recognized and loved the photos from Boston. My husband and I just honeymooned there in October. It was a great city and a great trip.

There was 15cm of fresh snow this morning in town so went to work with my camera and when I came back there was a father and his sons building a snowman so I asked them if I could take a picture of it:
