I hate tubular cast-on, but I think Pam’s comment + this photo may have given me a clue: mine looks like drek. This, of course, is a thing of beauty, and (sigh) I suppose I might have to try harder, since it might actually be worthwhile.
Is that three pugs in the canal photo? If so, I swear I saw the same dogs in Tollcross yesterday. I’m starting to feel like a scary pug stalker, “I’m following you in real life, I’m following you on other people’s blogs…!”
like (1). I miss Edinburgh… (long-time transplantee to Glasgow). I took my boy to the farm (National Museum of Rural Life. Check it out, it’s GREAT), drank some nice wine, and finished the left cuff for some funky-coloured Veyla mitts (slowly, due to combination of chart and afore-mentioned wine).
AHHH! That last photo is such a tease. I’ve never tried tubular cast-on, but have been pulling my hair trying to find out how to use it with straight stockinette, no ribbing. I can’t tell if it’s 1×1 or stockinette here, though.
I really love your tubular cast on, I didn’t know this kind of cast on, sorry, could you tell me where to find an example to be able to do it?, I would really enjoy to try it.
Maby in you tube, I don’t know….
Well is great to know what you are doing, thank you for your lovely post, as always.
Thanks for those lovely photos! It seems silly that this would be the time of year that I would miss Edinburgh so much, but I’ve been gone almost a year and that canal path was one of my favorite walks, so you’ve made me quite homesick!
I love the Ediburgh pictures too and am relived the canal isn’t too ‘gentrified’ for dogs – mine used to be walked there daily when I lived round the corner – although the swans could be a bit scary when nesting!

That swatch is a gorgeous colour! Could you reveal the yarn?

Beautiful pictures! What kind of camera do you use?
The chubby little pugs chasing after the chubby man on the bike is a HILarious photo.

I see people recognise this as tubular cast on… I never tried that- but maybe some time… Looks like you had a nice day, anyway!
I am envious of your bread baking skills, the last time I made bread it was as hard as a brick. Love the pictures and hope you feel better soon.
pretty!

If I would have read this a few years ago, I’m not sure what I would have thought ugg australia .. but today I agree with everything in this post.
Love the bread picture, do you mind sharing the recipe?
