Beautiful Projects – Matching Sets

Have you ever finished up a project, had a good amount of yarn leftover and wished for a matching set? Of course if the pattern’s already been written its easy, but I’m sure there are many knitters like me who see no co-ordinating pattern to their new FO and just move on. There are those who simply knit something to match, without a pattern or by combining elements of several, and they are to be admired! So today, here a few examples of knitters who’ve made their own matching sets and who are, I’m sure, both warmer and more co-ordinated…

Turning a hat into a cowl can be fairly straightforward but monkeybee has gone the other way and turned her cowl into a hat. I love the colour palette of her Retro 80’s Pyukkleen.

northumbrianmalla’s Damson mittens are so clever, I love how she’s taken the design elements of the shawl like the looped edging, garter stitch and shaping and used them in a different way on a completely different garment.

debby’s Sophie is one of the most adorable I’ve seen. Not only did this little rabbit get an outfit, she got a bag to match.

FlapHapsi knit up a Bronntanas cowl to match her hat, the squishy honeycomb pattern make a perfect fabric for keeping your neck cosy.

There are a few Ishbel variations out there in the world and on your needles, but I love the simplicity of this little pair of fingerless mitts, knit by jcscot. She’s also knit the shawl and beret to be truly co-ordinated!

Another stitch pattern that’s perfect for being squished up around your neck, this is a Snapdragon cowl knit by Minniemoll, who has also included some helpful notes on her project page in case you want to do the same!

And finally, an Icing Swirl cowl to match mooncalf’s hat. She’s also written some helpful notes, and this is a great idea for using up every inch of your yarn, just work in pattern until you run out!
