Yarn

approx 128 metres (140 yards) of worsted weight yarn, I used 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk in colour 09; 4 metres (4.4 yards) of ribbon, I used 1″ wide black satin.

US 8 / 5mm needle for your preferred method of working small circumference in the rnd

Gauge

16 sts and 24 rows = 10cm (4″) in stocking st.

Size

one size. The lacing makes it pretty adjustable but making them wider or longer would be a simple matter. Just CO more sts or work more rows.

Sew short edges of thumb together and cast on sts of thumb and hand together.

Repeat for left glove reversing gusset increases.

* Note: there is no reason you couldn’t use dpns to knit the thumb in the round. I just didn’t have any handy when I made them.
