Sizing
My patterns are based on the following measurement chart. These are body measurements, and the finished garment measurements may vary depending on the design. Please bear in mind that not all patterns are in all of these sizes. Some patterns have half as many sizing ‘steps’ as others, eg. one size will be designed to fit bust sizes from 40-42 inches. The number of ‘steps’ between sizes given for a particular pattern will depend on both how fitted a particular style is intended to be and on the elasticity of the fabric.
For a perfect fit, compare your own measurements to both this chart and the finished garment measurements shown in the pattern schematic and adjust the shaping as necessary. You may prefer more or less ease than suggested in a particular pattern, it’s a good idea to measure a sweater in a similar style and weight that you love the fit of to get an idea of the amount of positive or negative ease that you like.
As a general rule average sizes are for a b-c cup. For larger cup sizes choose your size by measuring around the chest directly under the arms. Use this measurement to select your size and add extra bust shaping to accommodate the difference between this measurement and your full bust measurement. You may also wish to add short row bust shaping to add extra length at the center front so that the hem does not pull up. If you want extra advice on how to adapt a particular pattern to fit your own shape please do not hesitate to email support@ysolda.com

As a designer, I’ve found it quite difficult to find an extensive measurement chart. It was compiled by combining the Yarn Standards sizing chart and British Industry Standard Charts. The measurements in this chart are the ones I have found necessary in designing my own patterns. If you wish to use this chart as a basis for sizing your own patterns please feel free to do so.
