… and rightly so you’re on the cover! Arisaig’s brilliant! I’ve got some old Beehive 3-ply wool in a lovely forest green that I snagged on eBay a few years back. I had another design in mind for it, but I’ve since concluded that it’s really boring and, therefore, not worthy of this yarn. But Arisaig is perfect - I’ve even got some purple 3-ply for the border.
Thank you, Ysolda, for this beautiful design. I hope this is just the first of many!

BTW how do you pronounce Arisaid (there’s a clapotis style debate going on out there in blogland!) My money’s on some celtic type pronounciation like Orlaigth in Big Brother…….

arisaig is pronounced ar-i-say-g i guess. It’s a place just north of fort william in scotland,
thanks for all your lovely comments - keep me posted on your progress if you’re making it

Wow, wow, wow! Arisaig is absolutley beautiful and on my must knit list!! Thank you so much for a beautiful design. BTW I really liked the story about your grandfather. My grandfather died when I was real young and the only memory I have is sitting on his lap in the kitchen eating olives with him. :)

What a beautiful pattern! I want to knit it right away. I was wondering about yarn substitution: how do you think it would come out using lace-weight yarn doubled? Any thoughts?
Thank you for the lovely pattern — I can’t wait to try it.
Best,
Julie

Julie - I’m not entirely sure what you mean by lace weight, but as long as it doubled isn’t any thicker than a 4ply weight it should work. I would try swatching it in the lace pattern and see how you like the drape of the fabric (as well as if you can get gauge obviously). It might work without doubling the yarn you would just get a lighter weight fabric. I’d love to see the yarn you’re planning on using though.

I had to be one of the multitude. Congratulations on the Knitty cover. It is my favourite pattern from the new Knitty and a truly beautiful sweater. I, too, am particularly fond of crossover styles and will be making this next! You are talented; keep up the good work.

I love your knitty pattern. That being said, I am a size 6 butt, and 38 inch bust.
The pattern, as pictured, looks very straight and flat-chest friendly.
My question: Do you think your pattern would work to fit the boobilicious?
Comment from Ysolda

Because it’s a wrapover it should fit surprisingly well - depending on how you want it though you could make the decreases at the neckline steeper.

Saw your pattern on Knitty and I’ve just ordered the yarn to do it - it’s so pretty!
However, I just have one question? It might be really silly… Have you washed it yet? If so, what happened? Did it need reblocking? Again, if so, how did you do that when it had already been sown together? That was more than one question, sorry…

I was just sniffing around on knitty looking through the cardigans, when I found your one. I loved the story behind it about your grandfather. I also love the cardigan! It looks really lovely. I don’t think I’m quite good enough yet to attempt it, but it’s definitely going to be the first thing I make when I find the courage…
Also, a few months ago I stayed in a place just a mile or so up the road from Arisaig (my first trip to Scotland) and absolutely loved it! Going back to the same house in a couple of months - can’t wait!
