what’s missing?

hmmm…
lots of information here, but something’s missing

cygnetballband

oh yeah the length of the yarn would be useful.

And thanks to this

pinkwool

I can happily report that one 50g ball of Cygnet Superwash Pure Merino Double Knitting Wool is approximately 101 meters. That’s about 110.45 yards.

I did this for two reasons.

Firstly it was annoying me that the length wasn’t printed on the ball band. It’s pretty nice yarn, cheap, easily obtainable (in the uk) and decent quality. I might want to use this yarn for a pattern sometime - probably substituting it for something else. The length is a lot more useful than weight in that case.

Secondly (in case the colour doesn’t make this completly obvious) this is the yarn I’m using for my stripey socks. Otherwise known as the Narnia socks - I still don’t feel great, I’ve read 3 and a half Narnia books over the last few days. I’d like to share the pattern - or at least how I made the socks, but I don’t want to do that without being able to make subbing yarn easy.

It’s always annoying when there is no yardage listed…

By the way, yards are shorter than metres, so if it’s 101 metres then it’s 110.45 yards according to the handy calculator here http://www.yarn-shop.co.uk/yarn/charts.php

that makes more sense - I found a calculator that gave me that result, but it didn’t seem right

That is pretty strange not to list the yardage - I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that before. Love your red/white gloves by the way…

hey, the gloves are lovely, hope you don’t have to abandon them.

I just found your website, another knitter in edinburgh, do you go to any of the knitting groups? I haven’t made it to any yet. I studied English Lit too, but down south, moved up here a few years ago. I loved your design in knitty, didn’t realise the person who designed it lived so near to me!

Thankyou, I’m not abandoning them - just postponing them until I finish knitting some gifts and order more yarn.
I’ve been to the cityknitty group once, I keep meaning to go again but life insists on getting in the way. If you can call assignments life that is.

Hi Ysolda,
Could you email me? I’m writing an article you might be able to help me with. Many thanks!
