I bought some rowan polar on sale last winter. I new it was going to be a jumper of some kind. I tried giant cables in the summer, and a cabled tree in the autumn:

but nothing was right

last week I finally gave up on making a jumper with a cabled tree (at least in this yarn) and sketched this:

I took all the yarn from my half-started jumpers and from this too small hat:

and now it’s almost done:

It needs a zip - and for some reason I had a white open ended one the right size lying around. But a white zip just wouldn’t go, so then I found a baggie full of black dye - not sure what kind but I figured I’d dump it in a bowl with some hot water, some salt and the zip:
