apocalypse tree hoodie
and every jumper needs thumb holes :)
and have i sewn the ends in?
no
and is the zip squint?
yup
and have I been wearing it constantly for several days?
of course.
Details:
knit from the top down in one piece with NO seams with rowan polar on 8mm needles.
and the name?
when I lived in Aberdeen (I went to uni there for a year) there was a perfectly manicured grassy slope outside my building with a single tree on it. If you looked at it from a funny angle it looked like there was nothing else in the world except a perfect kids drawing sort of tree on a plastic perfect slope. The apocalypse tree. And because if the apocalypse comes you want to be cozy, don’t you?

ooh, lovely! How many balls did it take? The Liberty sale is coming up and I’m sure Polar will feature again this year. I’ll stock up in anticipation of you sharing the pattern!

That is an absolutely gorgeous sweater! Wonderful design! Can you ever go wrong when inspired by natural objects like naked trees, stones, sea? For some reason it also reminds me of mysterious tv shows… X-files? Or perhaps it’s just Six Feet Under? And then there is Yggdrasil of course…

How difficult would you rate this pattern? Do you consider it to be pretty easy, or not a good idea for a first sweater?
I’m attempting to get over my fear of making knitted items that actually have to fit, and I think I would be really excited about making this sweater ^_^

I’m looking for a hoddie to knit for my DIL, she’s a teacher on windy playground duty and this would be ideal, could I also purchase a pattern when you do it please?
