You GENIUS! I am on a serious post-Christmas yarn diet, but there’s nothing for it — I have to make these instantly. So, I will spend this evening relentlessly frogging my DB alpaca silk neckwarmer and casting these on instead. Thank you for a really gorgeous pattern.

Maybe you should give them a name like “Soprano” or “Alto”? I kind of like Alto since it sort of implies rising up (as do the gloves) to me…what do you think? :-)

Those are absolutely gorgeous. The blue of the bloves and the black of the ribbon look marvelouse together, and they looks oh so soft! Excellent job :)

Love them! They are going on the needles as I type… well, not simultaneously, but you know what I mean, I think. And the whole time I am knitting them, I can be deciding what ribbon color might go well with a nice shade of cornflower blue. Hmm… The possibilities are endless!

Carmen (to go w/ the whole opera theme)
Crow (they look like gloves the Sara character from the Crow would wear)
Spledificant (just because I like the word)

hi i just have a couple questions:

1. Is the number of sts to cast on correct (20), seems too few

2. What does ”knit across picking up cast on sts and knittng them together with each stitch’ mean- i have no clue

PLEASE help me- the gloves look awesome and i really want to make myself a pair as soon as possible

Very clever, I’ve been looking for an easy pattern for this kinda thing for a while. I especially like the “picking up cast on sts and knitting tog”
It took me a few minutes, but once I got it I was like OHHH WOW! COOL!

You should call them corset opera gloves! They’re awesome.

A few questions, though:

I don’t understand “Knit across row picking up cast on sts and knitting them together with each st”. How do you go about this? Do you knit a stitch first and then pick up a stick and then knit them both together? Or do you just pick up the stitch and knit them together? (I’m using the slipslipknit method to knit them together). Maybe I’m just lost, hehe.

Also, what’s a gusset increase?

hello, i am from paris, those are really fabulous especially that i love to introduce satin ribbons in my knit pieces, so this is perfect!
what i do not understand is the word: “worsted yarn”, and you’re saying one needs approximately 128m for BOTH gloves? yes? that is not much with needles n? 5mm.
i have yarn that is to be knit with size 6, have you experimented knitting this pattern in a tighter stitch with thicker yarn? if yes, did you like the gloves?
if i stay with needles 6mm, would i have to cast on less stitches for the thumb?
thank you for answering, when i do knit those, would you like a photo?

Oooh pretty! Before I start making them, I want to know: would I be able to play the guitar in them? Anyone tried? I see you are typing in the picture; when you close your hand, does the palm material get in the way at all? “Carmen” sounds like a very good name, especially considering I plan to make them red.
