Finishing Stripy
I’m being good today, I wove in ends,
I sewed on buttons,
I picked up stitches (with smiley happy needles),
I made buttonholes,
I buttoned up the cuffs,
dressed the model (just because),
and then I gave stripy a bath!

lucky, lucky me
is it worrying that I’ve been too busy knitting to blog? Haha. I’ve also been way to busy receiving gifts, first my angel package for sp8 from Bentota. I’ve been so impressed with both of my angels, sweet, communicative and thoughtful people who sent me wonderful gifts without expecting anything in return. Thankyou :)
Oh but [...]

It isn’t done yet, but it’s in useable condition and I thought you might like to see how its going. http://ysolda.me.uk/knitalong/ Feel free to register, and let me know if you have [...]

Skull Illusion Scarf en francaise
I don’t know why I never posted this, but anyway my skull illusion scarf pattern is now available in French: http://www.tricotin.com/modeleeng_skull.htm
If you can read even a little bit of French I’d take a look around that site, it’s pretty cool. There are lots of free patterns and tutorials on different dyeing techniques and stuff like [...]

oh dear little tree
it’s not your fault, but you really ought to be in a very different place. You should be where I’ve worked up to in this row, not several stitches further along. Once again I display my amazing inability to count. It wouldn’t be so bad if I had noticed, before working waist shaping, waist shaping [...]

a pictorial guide to spiralling stripes
Montse Stanley discusses this technique in The Handknitter’s Handbook, referring to it as Helix stripes. Her directions don’t quite make sense to me however, so here is what I worked out. In the process of making this pictorial guide for you teddy got a new hat, so everyone’s happy.

not the only baker
I just ate this with my coffee, raspberry and almond tart baked by my mum. I should pester her for the recipe, shouldn’t I?
I’m so happy other people love these vintage books as well. Apparently there is a whole series of them :) I’m still planning to do my own pictorial guides today, but I [...]

the pictorial guide
Jane recently posted a second hand book find that thrilled me: the Pictorial Guide to Modern Home Knitting . I’ve never even seen this book in real life, I didn’t even know of it’s existence. Now, though, I must have a copy of my very own. You see I have it’s sister book:
I’ve had [...]

Thankyou
sigh, that’s been bugging me for so long. No wonder I didn’t realise that the literary basis for my conviction that it would be possible to double knit 2 socks at once was Anna Karenina. You see, that must be relatively near the beginning of the novel, because I didn’t get very far with it. [...]

striping along
I’m soooo pleased you liked my little baking idea. More of that soon :)
I’m almost done with the stripy green jumper, just most of a sleeve and some button plackets left. Weee! A few of you have asked for pattern details. It’s my own design, although it’s pretty simple. I’m planning on selling the pattern, [...]
