snow white v.2

Last night, after much ripping and re-knitting (with which the yarn coped with very impressively) I finished the second version of Snow White. I haven’t taken it off long enough to block it yet, but my mum was round this morning so I roped her into taking pictures.

It?s definitely my new favourite jumper, although it?s [...]

21 years

My dad gave me all of the pictures in the album he gave me for my 21st on a cd. I’ve uploaded all of them to the flickr set now.

twirly socks for xmas

I finished my aunts socks yesterday, not quite on schedule but close enough :) Unfortunately I can’t post them today because next day delivery isn’t available to the town my aunt lives in. Apparently it’s too remote. Stupid Royal Mail. Given the possibility of them getting lost I’m going to wait and post them until [...]

can I keep them?

I did indeed finish the first of these socks last night, yay! The thing is, they fit me better than any socks I’ve ever made for myself. Do I have to give them away? Of course I will, but I might make some for myself at some point.

I did manage to take it off, and [...]

crash!

I knew that was going to happen. As soon as I didn’t have anything I had to be well enough to do my cold took charge. I’ve spent the last few days hibernating, but I feel more or less ok today. Hibernating has meant I’ve managed some (very simple) knitting.

That’s the new version of Snow [...]

enchanted

I had my exam on poetry yesterday, was awful but it’s done :) The semester is finally over. Let’s ignore for the moment the fact that I have about 15 novels to read in less than a month and a dissertation to write by the first week of February. The rest of this week is [...]

Ariel Scarf

Here is the stitch pattern I used for Ariel (published in issue 1 of Yarn Forward, you can see it on the cover) and to make my mum’s scarf.
Each repeat is worked over 10 sts.

Row 1: (ssk, k8, yo)
Row 2: (p1, yo, p7, p2togb)
Row 3: (ssk, k6, yo, k2)
Row 4: (p3, yo, p5, p2togb)
Row 5: [...]

lined up

I printed the cards today. I actually found this process much harder to figure out than I was expecting too. I tried various things (rollers, heavy books) to press the card down on top of the print before eventually settling on a moisturiser jar with a folded paper towel taped over the top. (I was [...]

colouring

I took this photo several days ago, with the lack of light when I want to take photos if I want to post photos at the moment I’ll just have to accept them feeling a bit disjointed. This is a beret I’m now knitting for the third time. This one was the second one, and [...]

it’s gray and stormy outside

but I don’t care a bit. I always loved the idea of rainy days as a kid, that there were craft books of ‘rainy day activities’. It’s still a good excuse to stay at home crafting and baking. So far in this rainy weekend I’ve accomplished rather a lot. I dodged the rain yesterday to [...]
