Snippets

Peeking out from trying to study to let you know that my friend Cat’s ace new magazine, Snippets, is online.

I’ll be back to actually blogging next week. Right now I have to get back to trying to cram my (rather opinionated) thoughts on a vast subject into a 3000 word limit. The question (?Even [...]

It’s a good idea to look at your knitting occasionally

My head just isn’t that asymmetrical.? Which normally is a good thing.

After going to four shops I did at least find enough safety pins. So when I convince myself to go back to this I’ll be prepared. That’s something, right?
For now I think it’s back to swatching new yarns for me. Hand Knit may have [...]

punk sock heel hood with an apple

Ha, sorry for the silly title. Apparently I’m in a somewhat silly mood. Handed an essay in yesterday, so 3 final things to go :) I’ve got an exam on Tuesday, so until then I have to read lots of Victorian Comedy (oh so entertaining!) which means I get to work on the hoodie while [...]

a little knitting and some random thoughts

The reading hoodie is progressing slowly (although if I wasn’t procrastinating on Uni work so much it would be even slower). This is the first shoulder, completed up to the point where those stitches will be grafted with those from the back shoulder without any more knitting. More playing with seamless set in sleeves. I [...]

becoming a knitter

I am making this attempt because the prize is Socks that Rock. Seemingly simple questions [...]

librivox love

thanks to the librivox recording of Diary of a Nobody I got lots of stuff done while ‘reading’ one of my course books. Unfortunately, most of my courses this year were on 20th C literature that isn’t on Librivox because it’s still in copyright. Some of the other books for my Victorian comedy course are [...]

bunnies

I’d forgotten how fast knitting can progress when you’re not using needles less than 3mm in diameter. Although the border, while pretty, isn’t so easy to knit while reading. Progress should, but probably won’t, stall.

Expect a finished object post soon, if I can convince the bunnies to give up their new friend.

I was only swatching

My flat is actually, mostly, spring cleaned, and I’ve started studying for finals.
I found some nice yarns while cleaning, and had a few random balls of yarn that I bought specifically just to try. So on Monday I settled down to study, while knitting swatches. This was the first, Rowan Bamboo Soft. Which feels [...]
