The first Snow White
made by hands other than mine.
So exciting! Jennifer at Cabbage Eats Yarn was the first of my test knitters to finish. Doesn’t it look great? I know that another of my testers is also finished so look out for more pics soon. Snow White is finally on her way.

Sizing
I’ve put together a fairly extensive sizing chart, both for consistency across my own pattern line and as a resource for other designers who might find it useful. Marnie’s awesome post on using excel to manage sizing patterns (which was really helpful to me since it’s been a couple of years since I worked in [...]

Hit with a John Knox Space Bonnet!
Honestly I have no idea why, but on Wednesday I was tapped on the head by the university’s Vice-Chancellor with a bonnet that was apparently made from John Knox’s britches and the addition of fabric that had been sent into space. After that they gave me a degree, and I managed to return to my [...]

Briar Rose
The sun finally came out for a little while today so we took some photos. Summer doesn’t seem to be coming, but these at least look summery.
This second version of the bolero was basically to refine some issues with the fit, but style wise the major differences are in the two different yarns I used [...]

Catching up
I swear time has sped up recently, anyway weekly blogging wasn’t an intentional thing and hopefully this will be the end of it. So here’s a quick catch up post that won’t be kept waiting around for another similar list to follow it in about ten days or so.

In Pictures
So many things to share - so this is going to be mostly pictures, but I’m sure I will have lots more to say about some of these things over the next few days.
Our picnic for knitting in public day was great, I’ve blogged about it on the City Knitty blog. If you’re in Edinburgh [...]

cupcakes and knitting and yarn oh my!
This evening I made so many cakes I couldn’t get them all in one photo. I’m staying with my wee brother in my parents’ house at the moment because my parents are in Rome for my dad’s birthday. So I took advantage of their fancy kitchen and made it a look a lot less smart. [...]

Competition!
I was planning a contest to celebrate my 2 year blogiversary which is tomorrow, so it seems like a fun idea to combine that occasion with naming the short story readalong project. Thank you for the enthusiasm for this project, I’m definitely going to set up a separate collaborative blog. I’m quite excited. (See my [...]

Short stories
I’ve spent all afternoon compiling your recommendations alongside my own into a list of short stories. This page is going to be useful to me I know, and hopefully it will be to you. I love how it has become a sort of virtual anthology, and I’ve tried to make it something that (like [...]
