Sizing
I’ve put together a fairly extensive sizing chart, both for consistency across my own pattern line and as a resource for other designers who might find it useful. Marnie’s awesome post on using excel to manage sizing patterns (which was really helpful to me since it’s been a couple of years since I worked in an office and was familiar with excel) alongside a ravelry thread on sizing patterns finally prompted me to get around to doing this. You can find gif, pdf and excel versions here: http://www.ysolda.me.uk/wordpress/index.php/sizing/ Hope it’s helpful.

That is a mightily handy chart! You’re right, it’s always a real pain to find a properly comprehensive set of measurements. I have Sweater Design in Plain English by Maggie Righetti, which has the same kind of thing in the appendix, it is a book you definitely might like!

This is so great Ysolda! …. For us “stitcherers” aswell as you talented knitters :) A source for standard sizing is so complicated to come across, thanks indeed for all your hard work on this!

Thanks for putting this together. I think i ‘ll find it very useful because let’s face it, trying to combine M&S sizing with Howies sizing just isn’t that sensible.

Hey Ysolda,
I downloaded your sizing chart, and thank fo i didn’t have to put my inches measurment in to cm! It must have been a pain for you.
A few error i found though was your conversion factor from inches to cm is off. Its actually 2.54 not 2.44. (corrding to google) lol Also you left out the definition for “nape to waist” = base of back of neck waist length.
ArgH! I didn’t mean to point this out to be snob or geeky but i thought it was important!
