Stripy - 1 - Swatching

Almost all of Stripy is going to be knit in the round. I’ve decided to do a false button placket at the neck because there is no need for it to function and the original one pops open occasionally, presumably because of the various button sizes, which is annoying. Of course, if you really want [...]

Cheering up

I’ve been feeling rather out of sorts for the last few days, mainly because of the full moon and it’s effect on my ability to concentrate or sleep. Today became sort of dedicated to cheering myself up and I think it’s worked.

It got off to a good start. I was awoken at 7.30 by the [...]

A quiet Sunday

Organizing craft supplies, winding yarn into balls, sketching, swatching and baking cookies.
I quite like winding yarn by hand around a cardboard tube but it is very time consuming, so maybe I ought to buy a ball winder. They seem so expensive for a bit of plastic though. Sigh.

The oaty cookies are pretty much this [...]

Playing

With old lace doily patterns found in books in this fantastic collection. For the super curious this is 2 repeats of fig. 73 in the Priscilla Cotton Knitting Book.

I can’t share everything I’ve been working on, but I did get around to trying something I’ve been thinking of for a while.

I really love the [...]

Vegan pal swap questionaire

1. What is/are your craft(s), & how long have you been doing it/them?
I knit + design knitting patterns, sew, crochet, draw and bake. I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t doing some kind of craft, but knitting has pretty much taken over in the last 3 years or so.
2. Are you a vegan, vegetarian, [...]

Stripy - gather your yarn

Remember Stripy?

Well every so often someone asks about the pattern, but it’s always been my intention to do a tutorial on making this in your yarn to fit your measurements. Finally I’ve got the time to do this, so over the next few weeks I’ll be doing a series of posts on making this. If [...]

Sewn Button Loops

You can now find the tutorial for working the sewn button loops I used on Coraline here.  I hope everything makes sense.

Coraline

This one insisted on being named after Neil Gaiman’s modern-day fairy tale.

You can see all the photos, including the in-progress ones, on flickr.

Button loop tutorial to follow :)

Things I love

Finally figured out where my camera charger disappeared in the move and so, in no particular order, I present a very picture heavy post of some of the things I adore right now.

Cooking dinner for my self.

My traditional drying pulley.

These buttons.

Sewn button loops - are these one of those things everyone just knows or would [...]

New Shop

I’m feeling quite proud of myself for getting this setup - there was quite a bit of delving into the code, and finally ready to share it with you.
The new pattern shop is up. This was one of the major reasons for moving hosts, not that it would have been impossible with the old host [...]
