WIP Week - Thursday - The simple one

I always try and keep a simple stocking st project on the needles that I can carry around and pick up when I’m not able to give knitting my full attention. Here’s my current one, can you tell it’s been crumpled up in my bag?

A provisional cast on that will eventually be replaced by a sideways knit lace border.

These six markers mark the positions of darts, this is going to have lots of shaping.

And here’s a very rough sketch of what I’m making. Inspired (although it might not be obvious from the end result) by vintage slips in Carnivale.

While I was photographing my sketch book I thought you might like a peek inside at some other pages. Click thumbnails for flickr.

Hey, cool! I just finished watching both seasons of Carnivale and am now cursing HBO that they canceled it. I can’t wait to see your interpretation of a vintage slip-y top.

Hiya! It’s nice to have a simple stockinette project going. I like sketching ideas for future projects as well but I doubt many of them will become Fo’s though! I have nominated you as a Rockin’ Girl Blogger so if you want, pop round to my blog and pick up a button then nominate five other blogs.

I couldn’t help myself to peek in while on holiday but your wips are breathtaking. Your sketches are quite extraordinary too. I usually have ideas in my head and then I sketch but only a few of them come to life. Once in a while I look back in my sketchbook to see if I still like the idea……and maybe do something about it!
I am also becoming a fan of a simple stockinette stitch project for those times I don’t need complicated knitting. It’s getting easier to get used to and am enjoying it too. Enjoy your wips!

I love your sketch, especially the lacey bit of the top, can’t wait to see what the knitted item turns out like
