The Cute and the Gory
It’s almost Halloween, it’s stormy outside and I’m oh so excited. I’m sure it will come as no surprise at all to learn that I love Halloween and this year is special because it’s the first for several years that I’ve not had an important essay deadline too close to care about much than studying. [...]

2 by 2, knits of blue
Continuing with my terribly inefficient but very effective system of knitting everything twice the second Elijah and slipover vesty thing are progressing. The slipover vesty thing will henceforward be known as Arabella since I’ve been reading Jonathon Strange while knitting it (and other things, ’tis a very long book and I read a lot less [...]

Pretty on the inside
I love using a contrast colour for the facing of a knitted hem, even though it’s a detail that can’t be seen while the garment is being worn. Normally when stitching up the hem you would use the main colour yarn to whipstitch up the hem. Elizabeth Zimmerman reasonably suggested that instead of binding off [...]

Pretty pictures
Today I finally got around to hacking up a cardboard box and making a lightbox. I made one of these ages ago, but it didn’t survive moving house. It’s only taken me, oh about 18 months to make a new one. I used Lolly’s most excellent tutorial (and the one she linked to).
Right now it’s [...]

Slipover, vest, tank?
Er whatever you want to call it, I decided that given the frosty weather and my penchant for puffed sleeve blouses that I needed one and my little bird stitch markers needed to be put to use.
This yarn - Louisa Harding Grace - is so beautifully soft, I actually used it for a hat a [...]

Stripy - 4 - Boobs!
Read all posts in the Stripy series.
Ahem, sorry for the silly title. Anyway here’s what I would do if I woke up one morning, found I had my breasts had grown a lot overnight, and decided to knit a well fitted stripy. Admittedly there might be some freaking out first because that would be one [...]

Elijah
I took these pictures rather hastily while getting ready to visit the real baby Elijah and give him his gift, but I think you can see how he turned out well enough.
Since he was a gift for a teeny wee baby I didn’t want to use safety eyes, although they might look cute on a [...]

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Is, as you may be aware this month. Lin is generously donating 5p for every comment she gets throughout the month to Cancer Research UK. Today is her birthday, so go and say happy birthday, and check out her gorgeous Malabrigo Gretel, and see if we can increase her total. This feels particularly close to [...]

Sore fingers
from wrestling with wire
and tightly held double pointed needles.
The leaves are for an autumnal themed sock package.
And the birds are for me, I couldn’t resist them in the bead shop and given my ability to lose them I don’t think I could ever have too many stitch markers. I considered doing a tutorial but it’s [...]

Estella
The pattern for Estella is now available to purchase in the shop.
I’ve tried a few new things with the layout of this pattern that will hopefully make it easier to read and keep track of where you are so I’d love to know what you think of it.
