This little elve
has been having a very festive week!
I baked some very salty fake gingerbread cookies
and made candied peel.
I went ice skating in princess street gardens
on a slippery surface
which was followed by a trip to Ikea for some decorations and lots of cheery candles.
That’s Hannah that I was skating with and if you signed up for my card swap I think she might be your new favourite person. Somehow I convinced her that spending 5 hours helping me cut and fold and print 100+ cards would be fun. And it was, but I’m not sure I would have got them done by myself.
Last night we went out for a rather atmospheric and seasonal late night photo shoot of a finished object that has so far totally escaped the blog, it’s also my first proper crochet design. I do hope you’ll agree with me that it’s on the cute vintagey side of dorky. For now here’s a little sneak peak. More about it soon.
My friend Jamie’s also pretty up there on the list of people who rock, he not only helped me stick the stamps on all of the international cards (er I hope they don’t take too long to arrive, my cold is making everything happen too slowly so I missed the last posting date for xmas - sorry!) but also helped me carry a tree home today. I don’t have many ornaments though, other than a few glass baubles I bought when we were skating, the cookies above and a couple that were attached to some of last year’s cards. This is the first time I’ve ever had my own tree, so I think I’ll spend the rest of the evening cosied up with felt, glitter and clay making some more ornaments.

Two years ago I made a bunch of felt balls and felt garland, inspired by a project in Handknit Holidays, and they look so great on the tree! They were really inexpensive too.

Yesterday was spent watching Upstairs Downstairs (an old favourite), knitting socks and wristwarmers. To top it off I went to a Christmas Concert in a beautiful church. I also managed to cram in a skiing race.
Today it’s more skiing with knitting but also a visit to my local knitting café. : )

Ah, the crochet cute/vintagey/not-quite-dorky thing looks wonderful, and I’ve been trying to make something similar over the last few weeks after seeing one in a kids storybook, so am very excited to see more! hehe
Making festive things looks so much fun, I love the fake gingerbread cookies, I spent the day yesterday making clove oranges (I’m sure there is a proper name for these..!)

I love the photo. And your head wrap is beautiful. I can’t crochet but I always love the look a delicately crocheted items. I cant wait to see more.
