Wish you were here?
Tonight is the very first K1 knit night - and if you’re in Edinburgh it would be wonderful to see you there. Come along whenever you’re free, the shop will be open until 9pm so you’re welcome to stop by to make a purchase or hang out with us all evening. This is what I’m [...]

But is it fun to knit?
This question seems to be becoming my new pattern writing + designing mantra, which is probably a very good thing for you. It’s the main reason I’m currently re-working both my Cloud Bolero and Posie designs and although the situations aren’t totally the same, the Cloud Bolero does exist as a pattern after all, my [...]

Things I love
A bowlful of colour for dinner full of goodies from the farmers’ market.
Including cheese made from milk from a goat named Violet.
An evening, or two, with a stack of movies from the greatest video store in the world. Seriously I adore that place, I should take pictures to show you sometime.
While watching - finally re-visiting [...]

Brownies and Lace
Peanut butter and chocolate brownies. There’s no shortage or recipes for this wonderful combination, but they mostly seem to add the peanut butter to an existing brownie recipe rather than make use of it as a key structural ingredient. So I made my own and I’m very pleased with how they turned out so I [...]

The beach
Yesterday I went to the beach, the trip got of to very exciting start. I was running late, as ever, so I took the bus to the train station. I was sitting upstairs, knitting my sock (yes I appear to have become a sock knitter again + a crocheter, everything’s topsy turvy) and daydreaming when [...]

What’s on my needles?
Ballee asked what was on my needles in the comments yesterday and for once the answer is almost nothing. The only thing I have actively on the needles that isn’t in some sort of deep hibernation is a pair socks that I have about 6 rounds left on and that I can’t show you. So [...]

Maybe it’s a good thing there’s 3300 miles between us*
Because not only did I have a lot of fun in Toronto with Laura (more of our adventures on her blog), but we now have matching shoes.
Predictably we didn’t manage to leave the Fluevog store after just trying them on, although that in itself was fun, what with trying on multiple sizes and prancing around [...]

Acquisitions of the yarny variety
I’ve actually been fairly well behaved while in Canada and I’ve so far resisted the temptation to buy sweater quantities of yarn. The thing I’ve loved about visiting yarn stores here is seeing (and feeling of course!) so many of the yarns that I’d only seen online. And I’ve been storing all of that information [...]

Spinning etc
Yesterday we went to a clothing show and I bought a couple of cute printed dresses. This is one of them, from a Canadian company called Passenger Pigeon. As is probably obvious from the print they make eco-friendly clothing, my dress is made from organic soy and organic cotton. The torso’s a little long, but [...]
