What’s on my needles?
Ballee asked what was on my needles in the comments yesterday and for once the answer is almost nothing. The only thing I have actively on the needles that isn’t in some sort of deep hibernation is a pair socks that I have about 6 rounds left on and that I can’t show you. So that’s my very dull answer. I do have something on my hook though! I spent my last day in Toronto in Lettuce Knit with Laura and the crochet cardigan she’s working on got me thinking about crochet. So I found myself finally buying a sweater’s worth of yarn and a hook. Seems to be working out.
I do have a knitting fo to share that you haven’t seen yet, but by the time I remembered to photograph it even this last patch of sunlight had gone from my studio. It’s still light though, long summer evenings is pretty high on my list of reasons to love Scotland.

I was just telling someone today that one of the things I miss most about Scotland are those long lovely summer evenings!….those extra hours make one feel that its possible to pack more things into the day…like crochet!….maybe I’ll find the time to attempt some crochet during my stay in Shetland (even more hours of twilight)!

That’s funny, same style overhere! A sock (testing my own pattern, must be a secret for now), and a hook with green cotton.

oooh - I love the colour of the crochet. Hurrah for long summer evenings too - makes such a difference to how productive I am both at work and with knitting! Really nice to meet you on Friday. Lara x

I’ve moved 450 miles south to Surrey and still miss those lovely, long evenings and the feeling of such a big, open sky. I lived in Glasgow for 6 and a half years in total and still remember my shock at walking with my husband down the 18th fairway at a golf course in Renfrew, thinking it must be only about 8 o’clock and finding it was still broad daylight at 10 o’clock. My brain couldn’t make sense of it at all. Don’t miss all that wind-assisted rain they get in Glasgow though…
I like the look of what’s on your hook, btw

What pattern are you using for that crochet project? Just curious … I’m always looking for cute crochet sweater patterns.

I like the long summer evenings as well. The only problem I have though is when it’s daylight I automatically think it’s early, and my kids end up going to bed too late because of it. I’m sure they don’t mind. lol We’ll all be relaxing watchin tv or something, then I notice it’s 11 pm and have to rush them to bed. :-)

Hi! I love your blog. I’ve been reading it for a couple of months now.
It’s funny what you say about crochet…I am a Crocheter who is attempting to start knitting. Your things really inspire me to pick up the needles!!
Thank you for that. And keep creating beautiful things to share with all of us! :)
Best~Kalurah H.
