Time Out

cherryshawl.jpg

When my third attempt at the border stitch pattern on the cherry shawl didn’t work out I stuffed it in a bag in frustration. Today I had some time to focus on it, and enough time had passed that I no longer hated it and I started ripping back ready to start again.

I’ve spent all day messing around with charts in illustrator, swatching, ripping and moving symbols about but I think I have something I’m happy with. The shawl is even growing again. I’m feeling rather enthusiastic about this project now, so I’m very glad I didn’t rip the whole thing out when it was annoying me.

Looks like it’s going to be lovely! The yarn is really pretty. I’m having similar frustrations with the border on a shawl - I guess there’s a reason why the border is traditionally knit all the way around!

Keep it up and it will all come together perfectly. I know the feeling involved when something isn’t working out as wished.

It really looks pretty - I hope once you have it just right, it’s one you will share.

Lovely color. I’m trying to teach myself how to knit lace and have been ripping back like mad. Can’t wait to see your lace project done.

Its funny how a project can go from being wonderful to torturous and then back to a favourite again isn’t it?

I’ve gone through the project seesaw, too, and with a lace project. It doesn’t help that it’s my first shawl ever. Thankfully, I seem to be progressing..slowly…

If you feel like ripping something out - put it away and go back to it another day. Lovely shawl in a beautiful colour.
