OMG my mum used to get us Clothkit clothes when I was wee…still have a hat from 30+ years ago which has been passed onto various offspring! I didn’t know they were still around….thanks for posting this…I’m so excited….maybe I will attempt some sewing! Can’t wait to see your skirt!

I love Clothkits too, my mum still has some of our old stuff. I recently made one of the new pinafores but haven’t blogged about it yet as it’s for a present.

The daughter of the original Clothkits team has a fabric company called Noolibird and also designs sewing kits for Gossypium.

So you got a skirt (??) in a box to sew! How exciting. I didn’t know the idea of a kit existed. I am going to check this out. I love the sound of my sewing machine and the smell of it working (yes, it has a smell!). Thanks for this tidbit and the inspiration to pull my machine out of storage. Love those ribbons and the entire packaging scheme.

I grew up wearing Clothkits clothes! I noticed that they’d made a comeback and am very, very tempted by the Rob Ryan skirt. I hope yours turns out well.

I saw Kate’s skirt and loved it too, but I didn’t actually realise it came as a kit. It’s absolutely gorgeous!

me too! loads of my clothes were made from clothkits when i was wee. i had a really cool coat with toy animals hidden all over it! Had no idea they were still going, those skirts look fab! thanks for alerting me they are still going!

Ha, this is practically a Clothkits-kids reunion! I was dressed more or less head to toe in Clothkits as a child (as were most of my cousins - a slightly scary photo from my parents’ wedding shows us all in identical woolen Clothkits dresses, which our parents had bought completely independently of one another). It’s great to see that they’re back; I hope they reintroduce the gorgeous printed corduroy…

Ooops, I’m obviously even more short-sighted than I thought - some of the skirts are printed cord! I might choose to interpret this as fate prompting me to place and order.

Woohoo! I had the clothkits patchwork jacket with the animals too. My mum used to love clothkits when I was young. Thanks for letting me know that they’re back, I’m going to send my mum an e-mail now… (I rebelled against the itchy woolen dresses though).

I made lots of the Clothkits clothes for my sons and myself in the 70s. They had some useful knitting patterns too. I think I made about five of the saddle shoulder design jumpers for various members of the family.

I’ve had the Big Birdie skirt sitting in the study for ages. Hoping to find time to have a crack at it next week, although I’m a complete novice at sewing so I know I should really make a practice version with an old sheet first. Have fun with yours!

When I was browsing through the clothkit website, my eye caught this sentence at the bottom of their about page:

“And if you have an idea for a design do email us on keepmeposted@clothkits.co.uk as we are always on the look out for exciting new talent…”

Ha! I am a clothkits kid too, I was soooo excited to see them back again and have splurged on three little dresses for my girls. They are beautiful, I’m a bit sad I haven’t made something for myself….
