Is Ysolda coming to a store near you?

by ysoldateague October 14, 2011

Ysolda left the UK earlier this week for a tour through the States. This coming weekend she’ll be at Rhinebeck and will be signing books in the author’s area from 2pm to 4pm on both Saturday the 15 and Sunday the 16 of October.
The next stop on the tour is The Woolie Ewe in Plano, Texas on the 20 and 21 October. Ysolda will be signing books and teaching, for more information on the events visit the Woolie Ewe site here or join in the discussion in the Woolie Ewe group on Ravelry.

Starting with The Woolie Ewe this box sweaters will be accompanying Ysolda (and we’ve heard the box has already arrived there!)

It contains all the samples in Little Red in the City, plus a medium sized version of each sweater that wasn’t pictured in the book!  These sweaters will be displayed and you’ll be able to try on and play with as many as you like.

The second stop in Texas is The Knitting Nest in Austin.  Ysolda will be there the 22 and 23 of October. For more information about the visit to The Knitting Nest visit their website.

Next up is a visit to The Fancy Tiger in Denver, Colorado. Ysolda will be doing a book signing and teaching The Perfect Sweater class, the details can be found here.

She’ll then be heading west to Happy Knits in Portland, Oregon for a lecture and party on the 5 November, and a class on Friday 4 November.

For the final leg of this US tour Ysolda will be heading back to A Verb for Keeping Warm in Oakland, California for a talk and classes on the 12-13 November.

I know she’ll be happy to be reunited with Cleo – the little dog belonging to the owner of A Verb for Keeping Warm, as well as hanging out in the store.  If you’re nearby please come and say hello!

Pay what you can pattern pricing
Pay what you can pattern pricing

Pricing patterns has always been one of the hardest parts of designing and I’ve often felt like the “standard” price of knitting patterns is both lower than other similar products (eg. indie sewing patterns) and doesn’t really reflect the amount of work that goes into them. At the same time, it’s totally fair to worry that rising pattern prices will price people out.
