.... And it's a big one! Usually, the sale runs across a set number of days and things get pretty fast paced around here with shipping and customer service emails. With the need to continue to prioritise staff safety and a smaller team than usual, we decided to make this a whole birthday month.
Eight weeks ago, as school closures were announced here in the UK, we made the decision to pause shipping physical goods until we'd had time to take stock and figure out how to continue. After a week or so we came back with a plan: to do a small update every Monday, cycling through our stock so that only a limited range would be available each week.
I want to take a moment to be transparent with where we’re at. My priorities right now are to keep our staff safe and healthy, while we figure out how to keep going as a business. We are looking at how to keep the online store operational for as long as possible, in order to keep paying our team as normal.
Our latest Ysolda brand yarn is Moss, available as Moss DKand Moss Light (a fingerinf 4 ply). We chose the name because this 2-ply blend of British Blue Faced Leicester and Masham is soft, pillowy, and lustrous; it truly reminds me of walking on a mossy forest floor.
This post was originally in our newsletter last week and since then several subscribers have reached out with incredible kindness to say that they'll miss the club but want to keep supporting us. We appreciate that so much, and, although we obviously need purchases to keep the business going there are lots of other ways that you can support us. I've added a few notes at the end on ways that you can support our business and my design work without spending money. All of them apply to other small yarn businesses, and many of them to small businesses of all kinds.
With less than two weeks to go, we still don’t know what Brexit will look like, or whether it’s happening at all on October 31st. Like every other small business in the UK we’ve been trying to plan, without having much idea of what we’re planning for.
