This pattern is aimed at more experienced knitters but could be a good stepping stone for someone at an intermediate level.

    Specifically evoking the Icelandic Lopapeysas yoke style, this slouchy, comfortable sweater pattern lets you combine the colours you love wearing to create a unique handmade piece. One of our favourite features of this style is the way that the yoke feathers into the main body of the sweater, which means it avoids the visual heaviness of some more blocky yoke patterns. And you don’t have to worry about long floats while constructing the yoke detailing - the Threipmuir pattern uses a fun slipped stitch trick to avoid them.

    We’ve created a kit that pairs the pattern with a suggested yarn, in colours that we think look great together. For this kit, it’s Tukuwool Fingering, a wool yarn that’s grown, spun and dyed in Finland. We have selected five colour combinations of Tukuwool Fingering to purchase as a kit in sizes XS - 7XL, featuring the pattern and enough yarn to complete the sweater in your size.

    Scroll down for the schematic and full sizing information. Yardages for T sizes are based on combining the directions for the broader yoke with longer lengths in the sleeves and body. You can mix and match any options for your perfect fit.

    Threipmuir

    The Threipmuir sweater is a cosy and stylish design with a Nordic-inspired yoke. The pattern has been newly updated to include sizes from XS - 7XL, with fit options for all genders. Between the deep yoke, the positive ease in the design and the gently dropped underarm, this style creates a slouchy, comfortable fit on all genders and body shapes. It’s the perfect knit to challenge yourself at an intermediate level, or would make a good match for a more experienced knitter.

    The Threipmuir pattern is included in the kit, and can also be ordered separately if you prefer to substitute yarn.

    Optional Techniques


    About the yarn
    The yarn provided with this kit is Tukuwool Fingering, a unique yarn that’s grown, spun and dyed in Finland. A 2-ply yarn with a tight and lively twist, your knit will become even and smooth once washed. Tukuwool is a non-superwash yarn but is easy to care for: a cold handwash with wool detergent when you feel it needs it should be enough.
    We know that making a sweater in a larger size is an investment, so sizes 9-11 include a 5% discount, and sizes 12-16 include a 10% discount compared to buying the yarn separately.

    Sizing

    The pattern includes 16 sizes, with a finished chest circumference of 32 1/4" to 72 1/4", equivalent to ready to wear sizes XS-7XL. Our models are wearing the size 9 with between 2 and 8" of positive ease. Directions are included for regular and tall lengths, a broader yoke in proportion to the chest, and optional waist shaping. Note that the numerical sizes are provided simply for ease of following the pattern, and do not correspond to any sizing system, use the measurements provided to choose a size.

    Yardage and the schematic group the regular yoke and lengths, and the broad yoke and lengths, however all options can be mixed and matched for your perfect fit. Choose the regular yoke circumference if you usually find that the shoulders on womenswear garments fit or the shoulders on menswear garments are too wide, and the broad yoke circumference if you usually find that the shoulders on menswear garments fit or the shoulders on womenswear garments are too narrow. Everyone's body proportions are different but the regular lengths are most likely to fit if you are under 5' 8" and the tall if you are 5' 8" or taller.
