Love talking to knitters? In order to grow our online community and give our customers the best experience possible we’re now looking for an enthusiastic community manager to join our team. The role will be remote and part time, and is open to applicants located anywhere. You’ll be a natural networker, enjoy building relationships through social platforms, and have a passion for helping people with their craft projects. This is a new role for us, which means you’ll play a key role in shaping both the role itself and developing our online community.
Ysolda is an online publisher of knitting patterns and educational resources. We’re a small, close team with a friendly, flexible and hardworking environment. Effectively marketing our products is vital to the success of our business, but our social media is not just about selling. We’re looking for someone who understands our values and the importance of connecting with our audience and building community. A key responsibility of this role will be ensuring that each platform actively embodies our ethical values as a company as the community grows. The role will involve both answering customer questions about their knitting and liaising with our team on producing patterns and educational content that meets our community’s needs. Consequently we are looking for an enthusiastic knitter. However, knowing when to delegate a question or where to point someone towards is more important than how many techniques you can do or how many projects you’ve completed.
You’ll be well organised, able to keep to deadlines and on top of recurring tasks, with great communication skills. You’ll love automating the bits that don’t require a personal touch, and know when one is required. You’ll be passionate about learning new skills yourself, and supporting the love of learning we see in our knitters.

Hours: approx 28 hours per week
some flexibility is possible and we’re open to applicants in different time zones. The role will involve working closely with our UK based team and will require some availability 10–3 GMT Monday - Friday.
Salary: from £26k pro rata - if you’re not in the UK this will be a freelance contract position
Start date: November 2021
Contract length: 3 month initial contract, with the possibility of extending the contract
Equipment: you’ll need your own computer, but all software will be browser based and licenses will be provided. If a lack of computer equipment would prevent you from taking this role please do fill out the application form and include a note. This will not affect your application.
