A Guide to Customizing a Hand-Stitched Alabama Chanin Wardrobe

We've made the decision not to take orders for physical products at this time, so that our team can stay at home and we aren't straining resources like the postal service, until clearer guidance is issued by the Scottish or UK government. Thank you for understanding.

For sewists jealous of knitting’s portability, or knitters looking to get into sewing garments, hand-sewing may be surprisingly enjoyable. Alabama Chanin makes creating unique, beautiful pieces accessible and this book collects many of the garment patterns previously only available in their ready to wear collection.

The company that has become what Alabama Chanin is today began early in 2000 with the creation of hand-sewn garments made from cotton jersey t-shirts by founder and slow design pioneer Natalie Chanin.

In this book she offers three new core patterns—the A-Line Dress/Tunic/Top, the Long and Short Wrap Skirt, and the Classic Coat/Jacket/Cardigan—and a guide to customizing garments to fit and flatter. The book comes with a disc containing patterns for all of the garments from the previous three books in the Alabama Studio Series with additional sizing for XXL.
