The shawl is worked bottom up with a garter stitch border followed by the cable panel. Short rows are then worked to shape the centre in a shallow curve. The straight top edge is finished by continuing the garter and slipped stitch edging set up at the beginning. Each side is worked into the centre, decreasing across the remaining live sts and the ends are kitchener stitched together for a neat finish at the centre top.
