A brilliant way to experiment with different yarn styles, this beret is knit from the bottom up and can be customised to suit your taste, whether classic or more contemporary.
Classic and perfectly on-trend our stylish Cepes Beret makes the most of simple texture and clean finishes. You begin construction by making a neat folded hem and then knit from the bottom up in a deeply textured banded rib pattern, which uses half twisted rib to crisply emphasise the pattern. The crown shaping is cleverly hidden between the ribbed bands, with paired decreases so that the knit and purl stitch columns are perfectly offset around.

There is something eternally familiar and often magical, about catching sight of a mushroom cap strewn on the forest floor. Knitworthy 6 has been about returning our attention to the natural world and admiring the connections that are so vital within it. Boletus edulis, commonly known as cep, cepe, cèpe or porcini, is one of many mushrooms that grows in woodland and forms a complex, mutually beneficial relationship with the trees. Several varieties are found in Scotland and it's easy to see how Ysolda was caught by their resemblance to a beret when hiking in the woods. This beret pays homage to the art of slowing down and noticing the little things, no less important for their size, to the system all around.

Gauge
22 sts and 30 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in half twisted rib measured with the fabric relaxed after wet blocking. The rib should be opened up so that the purl columns are visible but not pulled out or stretched widthwise.
