Learn more about the collectionThe classic beret gets the signature Ysolda swatchless-hat treatment. Versatile, multi-gauge and oh-so-stylish, it’s sure to be a treasured gift.
If you loved Musselburgh you’ll love this Beret twist, and everyone on your gift list will too. Simple, satisfying and ready to cast-on right away, the Musselburgh Beret makes a great last-minute stash-busting gift. And we really, really mean it when we say no swatching required: if you haven’t knit a swatchless hat before get ready to fall in love with measuring gauge on your in-progress project. The pattern includes detailed instructions and done-for-you maths for 5 gauges and 6 sizes, from baby to adult x-large, resulting in a perfect fit in (almost) any yarn.
You’ll start at the top with a few rows of I-cord, a classic detail that also makes that centre-out beginning much easier. Win, win. Pairs of mirrored increases are worked at 8 points for a neat crown that lies perfectly flat. After increasing enjoy a section of mindless stockinette that’s just the right length to be relaxing, before decreasing rapidly to bring the beret back in at the bottom. Finally, you’ll mirror the initial stalk with an I-cord bind-off for the perfect clean finish.
The Musselburgh Beret is currently exclusive to the Knitworthy 9 collection and will be released as an individual pattern in mid-December.
