Shaping is worked into the stitch pattern to create a flattering shape that flares out around the shoulders and narrows to hug the neck. The thickly textured fabric is structured enough to stay up around the nose and mouth in particularly chilly weather. The cable pattern features some unusual increases and decreases, utilising Barbara Walker’s innovative “closed loop” technique, but is enjoyable and intuitive to work. Bourley is worked in the round from the bottom up.
