Starting at the centre top, using a double sided cast on for a seamless beginning, yarn overs emerge from the reverse stocking stitch background trailing knit columns. The scattered pattern grows denser at the lower edge transitioning into a simple but effective mesh pattern.
Cariño’s edges have the appearance of neat I-cord but are worked as rolled stockinette to give the shawl more give for blocking. Increases are worked on every other row at the centre spine and on every row at the edges to create a wide shallow triangle that’s rounded off with the curved mesh border and completed with a crochet chain bind off.
The pattern is both fully charted and written out, to suit every knitter’s preference.
