Get cosy this winter with the Halftone Cowl, a bright, wearable cowl with a textured stitch pattern
The Halftone Cowl mimics the look of an asymmetrical shawl whilst benefitting from the throw-on-and-go styling of a cowl, with no ends to keep in place, and no need to readjust throughout the day. Make your version unique by customising it to your or your recipient’s tastes. With the options of two weights, worsted and chunky, and a stitch pattern that works with alternating colours or stripes of different scraps, the Halftone Cowl can be the perfect gift for anyone in your life.
Halftone is a printing technique that uses patterns of dots to create images. The dots are varied in size and spacing in order to create various gradient effects to create the illusion of a continuous, smooth tones. This cowl was designed with a nod to this technique, although with a lot more colour than the traditional black and grey.
The Halftone Cowl is currently exclusive to the Knitworthy 8 collection and will be released as an individual pattern in mid-December.
Our newest collection of accessory patterns, perfect to gift. Knitworthy 8 includes six patterns spanning a wide range of techniques and styles.
Beginning with the ribbed border that forms one side of the centre point the Halftone Cowl is knit flat, with a clean double knit selvedge that is worked as you go. The main body is a deeply textured stitch pattern that’s a variation on the classic fisherman’s rib. It is easy to memorise and has a rhythmic quality to it that makes it a delight to knit, and results in a fabric which drapes beautifully. Finish with a short seam at the back of the neck, turning the flat piece into a triangular cowl.
