Learn more about the collectionUse the flexible Lifeline Mitts pattern to keep all of your loved ones’ hands warm and cosy this winter. Featuring two styles of edging, directions for fingerless mitts or full mittens and a wide range of gauges and sizes for effortless customisation.
The Lifeline Mitts feature the curved thumb gusset used in many of my most popular colourwork patterns, pared back to it’s simplest form in a classic stockinette mitten or fingerless mitt that’s perfect for stash-busting. Enjoy the simplicity or use the pattern as a blank canvas for your own creative details, with all the maths done for you. The mitts are worked in the round, beginning at the cuffs. Choose a classic rib to block harsh winds, or keep things clean and minimalist with a simple purled border.
Comfortably placed thumb shaping is worked with a single column of increases on the palm, creating a curved line that echoes the lifeline on the hand. After finishing the increases adjacent stitches will be put on hold for the thumb and you’ll continue working in the round for the rest of the hand, for your choice of a fingerless mitt or full mitten. Finally you’ll return the held thumb stitches to the needles and complete the thumb to match the hand.
The Lifeline Mitts is currently exclusive to the Knitworthy 9 collection and will be released as an individual pattern in mid-December.
