Smith is an adorable Hedgehog that can be knit in a variety of sizes by using different yarn weights. Smith was inspired by one of my favourite childhood books, Smith the Lonely Hedgehog by Althea.
Although knitting anything with spikes is going to be a little fiddly, the construction method used is simple and fun. The body is worked in the round and the spikes are worked in separate pieces and joined to the body as you go, this also makes it easy to work the spikes in a darker colour if desired.

Big Smith is shown in Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton in Nut.
Little Smith is shown in Rowan Scottish Tweed DK in Oatmeal and Peat.
Teeny Tiny Smith is shown in 100% British Alpaca 4ply in light natural brown and dark natural brown.
Needles and notions
Body: Size 7[2.5, 0] US / 4.5[3, 2]mm double pointed needles
Spikes: Size 9[6, 2.5] US / 5.5[4, 3]mm straights
