A yoked pullover I designed as a collaboration with my studio manager Bex. Her vision was to combine more affordable Létt Lopi as the main colour of a sweater and use Einrúm for the yoke, really highlighting its beauty.

The loose fit and drapey gauge were based on a sweater she’d already made for herself. We worked on the grading and yoke design together, but this is mostly Bex’s sweater. It seemed only fitting to name it after her long-time Ravelry username, the Scottish Gaelic word for snowflake.

  • Bleideag is worked from the bottom up in the round. The sleeves and body are joined at the underarm and the yoke is also worked in the round, with decreases subtly incorporated into the colourwork. The pattern includes directions for optional short row bust shaping, for different cup sizes. Short rows are also used to lower the yoke at the front and raise the back of the neck for a more comfortable fit. Bleideag includes fifteen sizes, from a finished chest measurement of 38" to 66". Shown in size 7 with C/D bust darts and 7 inches of positive ease.

    NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

    US 9 / 5.5mm 24” / 60cm or longer circular needle.

Additionally, for sizes 3–15 a 32"/ 80cm, and for sizes 8–15 also a 40"/100cm circular in the same size.

For these sizes, begin with the longest needle and switch to a shorter needle as necessary while working the yoke.

US 9 / 5.5mm dpns or circular(s) for your preferred method of knitting small circumferences in the rnd.

Stranded colourwork gauge is highly personal. You may need to use a smaller or larger needle for the colourwork.
