Lauriel is worked from the top down, beginning with the leaf pattern yoke which is shaped exactly like a larger round yoke with increases hidden in the stitch pattern. At the shoulders the sleeves are shaped like set in sleeves and short rows are used to shape the front neckline. At the chest the front is wider than the back and the additional stitches are decreased at the underbust. At this stage the cardigan can easily be tried on to determine the best point at which to decrease.
24 sts and 30 rows = 4" / 10cm in st st knit flat.
Double knitting weight yarn with a suggested gauge of 5.5 sts per inch / 2.5 cm
