33yds / 30m per repeat of heavy fingering to light worsted weight yarn
17 sts and 36 rows = 4˝ / 10cm in garter st.
US 7 / 4.5mm needles.
Length is 13˝ / 33cm
Worked from side to side and shaped with simple short row wedges the capelet features a neat integrated I-cord edging around the neck and a deep lace and cable pattern around the gently flared bottom edge. The yarn used is perfect in garter stitch, so light and lofty that you’ll forget you’re wearing it, but whether at the ball or the supermarket it will keep your shoulders warm and add a little fairytale romance to your outfit.
The simplest way to size the capelet is to knit until you’re happy with the fit, but in case your intended wearer isn’t handy for constant try ons a table of the number of repeats to work for bust sizes between 30 - 56˝ / 76 - 142cm is given. Length is 13˝ / 33cm but can easily be altered by changing the number of sts cast on and working according to the pattern. Up to 8 sts can be removed before there will be problems with the shaping.
33yds / 30m per repeat of heavy fingering to light worsted weight yarn (the yarn used is very lofty and fills in the spaces when knit loosely, use a yarn that gives you a fabric you like at the correct gauge). Shown in Imperial Stock Ranch Sock (100% wool, 545yds / 498m, 4oz / 113g) in natural.
Stitch markers, 3 small buttons.
