Wee Chickadee

March 19, 2014

Wee Chickadee is now available. This was the first of my adult patternsthat I tried scaling down, the first couple of prototypes ended up as gifts for friends.

I think the fact that the neckline of Eloise’s is felted from drool is a good indication that this was well loved! Now there’s a good argument for using superwash other than whether your recipient will be ok with handwashing.

This little cardigan is a great shape for babies – round yokes go with their round shoulders perfectly and helps to ensure it fits for a good while (relatively speaking!). The cuffs look great folded up and directions are included for working the buttonholes on the left or the right.

If you’ve never done stranded colourwork or made a top down sweater it’s also an excellent pattern to try those out without the pressure of an adult garment fitting. Doesn’t hurt that it’s not nearly as much knitting either. Plus cute little models are excellent from distracting attention from any slightly less than perfect bits.

The pattern in sizes 3 months to 4 years can be found here.
