Vine Yoke Cardigan

The new Twist Collective is up and includes my pattern the Vine Yoke Cardigan.

Once again I failed to take any photos before it left my hands, but I did take a couple of progress shots.

This lack of finished photos is hardly surprising given that I handed it over to Twist’s Art Director Irene at Maryland Sheep and Wool. The soothing, comforting garter stitch kept me company through screen filled days finishing up the layout for Whimsical Little Knits, anxious days waiting for those books to return from the printers, hand cramping days signing books, long days labeling and envelope stuffing, hectic days trying organise my trip, exciting days in New York and Philadelphia. And finally, in our hotel room in Maryland, I sewed on the buttons, used every towel we’d been given and laid it out on our floor. When Irene called me at the festival the next day I desperately asked if she’d still be there the following day, for my poor sweater, like everything else that weekend, was still wet. Luckily by Sunday, the cardigan was dry and Irene was still around, and so we managed a very sly hand off at the Ravelry meet up, joking that Kate would kill us if we accidentally held it up in front of so many knitters.

MDSW day 1-4

so many knitters!

Knit in the amazingly squishy Lorna’s Laces Green Line Worsted Vine Yoke is such a perfect project to me. Reasonably mindless, with just enough lace and short rows to be interesting, it’s ideal to pick up and put down, simple enough to knit at the end of a tiring day, perfect to fit into busy life. The end result is flattering and easy to wear and should fit just as naturally into your life and wardrobe. What journeys will you take the Vine Yoke Cardigan on?

It’s beautiful, Ysolda. Do you happen to sell time too? I could use some extra hours to knit all your patterns I want to knit!

Another amazing design, you make it hard to chose what to cast on first

You’ll never stop making me want to cast on projects right now! That’s what happened with Damson.

What a beautiful cardigan! That is *almost* enough to get me to put down the baby knitting in progress and make something for myself. I have a few things to finish up and then I will be downloading this pattern. Swoon!

So gorgeous! I think I can see what you’ve done with the buttonholes, and if I’m right, that’s a mighty clever little item. I will have to buy it and knit it to find out. :-)

I also love that you’ve done it in a neutral. It would be too girly for me if it were in a different sort of hue, but the gray lets me see how well it would suit me.

I love this cardigan – I am a great fan of yokes, and have recently made socks with a twisted vine type pattern … might just have to try this one out!

I have already purchased it and am planning to make it with an unplied yarn, which will give it a bit more structure, I think. I have never seen a sweater made this way, done side to side–I’m eager to get into it!

This time (as opposed to Vivian) I saw it in Twist before your blog. It’s very pretty, and looks do-able. Can’t believe they chose to dress their model in red, purple and brown, though! I almost looked away, until I saw the designer name. Plain, natural colors could have made it stand out in a better way, I think…

Red, purple and brown. Gah!

I fell in love with this pattern as soon as my eyes fell upon it. I can’t wait to get started with it. It will be my first ever cardigan! I also want to thank you for making this pattern in the larger sizes. It is so rare that such a beauty is designed with all sizes in mind.
