Snapdragon

Je asked what the hat shown in yesterday’s post, was? It’s my Snapdragon Tam, I’ve been trying not to wear my samples too much, because it’s so great to have ones in good condition events. I love seeing knitters try on my designs and sometimes it’s also fun to convince one of my friends to show one off at an event, as Laura kindly did at Rhinebeck.

However, in the case of this pattern and the accompanying flip-top mitts I haven’t been able to resist wearing them. The mittens are so practical, the hat works both posed at a careful angle and pulled down to keep the wind (and snow!) out of my ears and even if those things weren’t true I don’t think I’d be able to resist this colour. This magical, instant smile, go with everything, cheer up the gloomiest of days glow is from Madelinetosh, really all of their colourways are beautiful but I can’t promise that any other than Gilded have these sorts of superpowers.

I’m sorry Sarah, but I might have to talk you into knitting up some pristine samples for events, wearing these is just making me too happy.

That yellow really is a color that warms the heart and brings a smile to the face. I can’t wait to make a Snapdragon for myself!

They really are the thing for this weather. So cheerful! And the colour is just stunning.

Snapdragon is next on my list. It is COOOOOOOOOOLD here. And I can’t WAIT to have both the hat and the tam.

Yay, new subway projects! Woo!

And I saw Laura in the snapdragons at Rhinebeck. She looked awesome and that color is so beautiful in person.

That color is so amazingly happy! I wish I had some of that, in person, to cheer up this bear of a day. What beautiful work it’s been used for, and it stands out so brightly in the snow, like captured sunlight.

I just love the set. I have the pattern, but haven’t bought the yarn yet. This post gave me the motivation. :) I’m trying to decide what color to buy, I love the color you’ve chosen, but am worried about how it’ll look on me. Wish I was closer so I could try on your sample!

p.s. I’m making a point of commenting on the blogs I’ve been reading for years. Hello, btw! :)

Yeap, I had to have it too and every time I wear it I always get a compliment about it. Sam, you should get it, indeed the color is very powerful, I’m sure it will look great on you :-)
I was wondering, Ysolda, how about accompanying Snapdragon tam and mittens with a scarf? Just selfishly thought about this morning :-)

I don’t blame you for wanting to wear the sample. It’s gorgeous and the color really suits you. As speedy as Sarah is, you’ll have a pristine sample for your trunk shows in no time! :)

I have to say again that I love your Snapdragon Tam. I just finished mine using Sweet Georgia Merino Silk and I absolutely love it! In fact, I think I’ll wear it today.

I LOVED making the tam…so much I made it twice! It made much-loved gifts for both my brother’s 27 year old girlfriend (in slouchy medium) and my boyfriend’s 82 year old mother (in a small). Your patterns are flawless – crystal clear instructions and gorgeous designs. Keep up the amazing work and I’ll keep knitting it : )
