How exciting! I love wearing tank tops and I’m definitely planning to make an Angostura. I would make mine in a bright colour – maybe green – so that I can use it to add extra colour to an outfit. I’d probably wear it over a buttoned shirt and with one of my many straight, knee length skirts. Maybe my red velvet one, or my denim skirt. With coloured tights and mary-jane shoes. I seem to mostly dress like a five-year-old these days and I love it!
I would love to win this yarn, this vest is very much on my list of things I wanted to knit from Little Red. I wear many vests during the cooler months as I feel the cold, so I would wear it over long sleeved t-shirts and shirts to keep me comfortable and smart.
Oh how lovely! The thing I love most about this vest is that I could wear it with just about anything! Dressed down with a pair of jeans and boots or a bit dressier with a skirt and tailored shirt.. It’s a beautiful layering piece!
I think I’d wear it with a shirt with a 3/4 lenght sleeve underneat, leaving the collar of the shirt unbuttoned and with a big necklace. Coupled with my black jeans (that is, when I can fit them again after pregnancy) and a nice pair of shoes it would be a perfect outfit both for being nice at work and for going out afterwards!
I love all the patterns in the book but this one caught my eye as something lovely to layer over my usual tops for the office to help keep warm in it’s refrigerator like temperatures!
I would wear it over a button down shirt to add a little personal touch to office attire.
Black skinny jeans, brogues, bare arms and a golden yellow shawl – perfect for English summer!
I think the way it’s show on the LRitC pics is the perfect choice to wear it… with a vintage dress or like Amanda with trousers and a shirt.
I’ll wear it like Amanda!!! I don’t look good on dresses…
I’d wear it with a polo neck long sleeved top, long skirt and boots on a cool autumnal day, so I can scuff through the leaves in style!
I love this! Considering I turn up to work every day looking like a scruff, I think an Angostura with a crisp white shirt would be just what I need to smarten myself up. I would also wear it casually with a coloured top, denim shorts and coloured stripy tights. Two extremes but both would work wonderfully with Angostura. Thanks for the competition!
on top of a nice cool t-shirt for casual occasions and for work on top of a white button up and slacks for a more professional look.
Oh, I want to win this! I would wear mine over long sleeved tees in the cold months.
It’s such a cute little waistcoat/vest. I think I’d love it in a rich purple-y red colour (say the colour of a nicely aged Bordeaux). In spring and autumn, it would be great with my grey scoop neck long sleeve t-shirt, my favourite blue jeans and my Doc Martin mary janes.
I’ve just discovered the joy of tanktops, and am looking forward to making Angostura. I would make it in a bold colour, like purple or crimson, and wear it with my black trousers and kitten heels for work.
I have a black dress that needs a good piece over it to make it transitional for autumn/winter, and Angostura would be ideal. I’ve never knit a sweater of any sort for *myself*, so that’d be an excellent way to start!
It would definitely be come a staple in my school wardrobe. The heating system is old in my school so layering is really good for me especially as as I cycle to work. I want to knit one in a deep purple and wear it with my short grey cycling skirt and my tall black leather boots! I would wear one of my sseveral long sleeved whitestuff tops underneath. Mel xx fingers crossed here
What a super competition with a super easy answer….I would wear mine with pride and teal boots!
Gorgeous pattern and would love to give it a go!

I would wear mine with my red pattern blouse underneath -my navy linen trousers and my beautiful bright red raincoat on top -to cheer up wet days in Derbyshire uk .Thank you
I’m planning to make mine in rich navy blue, worn with a cute little blouse I have that has red and blue flowers on it, with a red silk scarf tied jauntily around my neck. Or have the tank in red and the scarf in blue… I haven’t quite decided yet!
I have to make it, because my (sadly late) dad loved Angostura bitters, and the name makes me smile every time I see it ;)
I almost never wear shirts, I have this thing against buttons. But I’m working up to sewing myself a floral shirt (with press studs!) Wouldn’t it look great with an Angostura over? Mybe grey, like the photo? or hot pink!? And maybe comfy jeans & flowery sneakers…
Ooh, what a great give away! I’d wear it over shirts and dresses that need a little extra warmth in the winter :)
Ashley x
I’m really enjoying knitting Cria. I was thinking about Angostura next. I think I’d wear it like Amanda, with a casual white shirt and jeans or suit trousers.
I love the elegance of the pattern.
I love all Ysolda’s patterns. I live in Auckland, New Zealand, and it rarely gets really cold here, so a vest is a perfect piece of clothing to have. I’d wear it with jeans and a bright top, and I’d probably knit the Angostura in black or grey.
oh! my Angostura would keep me warm in the winter, over a long sleeved T.
First day on the job I will get in the near future, I would wear my new made Angostura with flare!!! <3
I would wear it over a 3/4 sleeve T and jeans with flat boots and a little jewelry to dress it up a bit!
Angosutra can be a great accessory to office wear. I would wear it over formal trousers, and collared 3-4th shirts. Love, love the details on this vest. Keeping my fingers and needles crossed.
I would wear it over a white t-shirt with my favorite pair of jeans to add that little extra layer of warmth on cool days.
This has so many seasons of interest.! In the spring and fall over a tshirt or tank. In the winter over a long sleeved shirt under a shawl or jacket. Dressed up over a dress or skirt. Dressed casual with jeans. And I love how the pattern will let me size it to fit me!
Oh this is such a lovely prize. I’d wear it with a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and under a fantastic blazer. And maybe a funky hat. And knitted socks. Can’t forget the knitted socks.
It would be perfect for my autumn work wardrobe. I’d like to wear it in a bright colour with a crisp white shirt underneath it. Need to check out all the colours available, but a red or fuschia type of pink would be good.
I used to never wear things without sleeves but lately have found how great they are for a person like me who uses her hands all the time. I’m always pushing my sleeves up while typing, playing the piano or guitar, doing dishes or knitting.
I’d definitely make it in a bright color as well, orange maybe, red or purple, and then I’d combine it with the new denim skirt I’m currently making, black boots, nice colorful tights, and a t-shirt with 3/4-length sleeves underneath.
I’ve just been queuing up vest patterns all week. I don’t know why I’m on a vest kick right now but it appears they are going to be my go-to for this fall and winter and Angostura is just the thing! I would wear it to work. I work with elementary kids in their computer lab. Here’s hoping for the yummy yarn to make it!
I’d probably wear it over a long-sleeved Tshirt, with a long skirt under it.
It has the most delightful detailing, so to show that off I would wear my hair up. It would look lovely on its own, with a matching pair of linen trousers, and some celtic knot silver earrings I bought on the Isle of Skye.
However, I also have a very lovely pin-tucked-all-over white blouse which it would sit over very happily, and a pouffy parachute linen skirt and boots for when the autumn comes. Woolly tights, boots and a shawl over the top would then take me into next year. I think I must make it – either in a slatey charcoal grey or a denim/indigo blue. It is too lovely (and too useful) not to indulge.
I would wear it over a long sleeve polo or a mock neck shirt with my jeans.
Oooh, ends onmy BIRTHDAY! I would wear mine over my long sleeve button ups… CLASSIC or also over some of my v-neck fitted t-shirts this fall before it gets truly chilly.
Angostura is a perfect wardrobe staple. I would make this in a fun color to wear to the office this winter.
This pattern is so “on fashion”. I would wear it with a white short sleeve tee in the fall and jeans and then transition it in the winter with a long-sleeve blouse for work. love it.
I’m dying to make this! I love the grey Amanda’s wearing, but I’m tempted to find a way to do all the i-cord edgings in a contrasting colour – red, perhaps.
Wow! This is such a versatile item! I can see myself wearing this to work over a blouse with chunky collar and sleeves. It would also look great with a turtleneck and jeans for weekends.! I will definitely be making this pattern soon! (And hopefully again with some Classic Elite Yarn I win :-)
Oh, I know! I would knit mine in the same color as Amanda’s and wear it over a black button down, collared shirt. Over jeans and black to-the-knee boots, of course. Love it!
I’d wear it with a shirt dress, tights and some bright shoes. probably this dress: http://www.trollieddolly.com/ourshop/prod_1033901-016-Tea-Dress-Creamy-Marshmallow-.html ! and then go to national trust houses and fancy places with lots of cake x
I just HAVE to have things like this to wear at work – everyone has mentioned the crisp white shirt, the kind of thing you wear under your suit jacket for that oh-so-important meeting. The meeting that is inevitably preceded by the hasty lunch – and the crisp white shirt becomes the crisp-white-shirt-with-tomato-and-coronation-chicken-down-the-front! Solution? Wear the lovely smart Angostura during the working part of the day and replace with the suit jacket for that meeting. If the Angostura makes it through the day without coffee stains the in the evening it goes just as well with jeans. I’m looking forward to mine already :-)
Since I have 2 babies myself I need that bag ;) o.k. and the yarn would be awesome too.
I guess I would go with a white shirt and a hot pink skirt http://farm1.static.flickr.com/91/248490943_6fb9cd75a7_m.jpg both made by yours truly :) Plus I would wear my boots (with heels :) )
I would use the vest to keep me warm in cold classrooms in the fall and winter. Together with a long sleeve shirt and loose-fitting linen pants.
And I’m very curious about the book!
I would be so happy to win this!
Oh how I hope this is open to people in Australia!
I’d wear it over a long sleeved top, the colour of which would depend on the colour of the vest. A grey vest would have a white, black or deep purple top underneath. If it were coloured (like, purple, or a teal grean) I’d wear in with white or black underneath, or a white blouse, like in the photo. It would be perfect for in the classroom!
I am in the process of updating my wardrobe to have a nicely tailored, and vintage feel. Angostura is a wonderful vest that would look good with just about any look. I’d love to do one in either a deep red or a crisp navy. Pair that with my wide leg navy pants, cute shirt and a pair of saddle shoes, I’m all ready for a fun day out!
I’ve been thinking about turning Angostura into a cardigan, adding sleeves, and wearing it with wool dresses for winter – lovely!
This vest looks so versatile I can imagine wearing it a myriad of ways — with a tee shirt and jeans, over a printed blouse with trousers or a skirt, or even over a dress. I’d do it in a neutral colour just to make sure I could wear it with many things already in my wardrobe!
I’d make one in either grey or blue and use it as a layering piece that goes with everything.
I am going to wear mine on its own as a tank. Very excited for this. :D
I’d knit it in purple and wear it over a black and white stripey long sleeved tshirt, and maybe add a crocheted flower brooch with a button centre for a bit of decoration. I like to highlight my waist so I could wear it with an i-cord belt to pull me in just under my bust as well :) definately wear it with jeans!
I think it’s perfect with a crisply ironed white shirt, a pair of jeans and loafers. Oh and a nice pair of coordinating socks. :)
I’d knit Angostura with a deeper neck opening and wear it over a white shirt to work – that combo always makes me feel like a cool young businesswoman ;)
with a denim mini, thick tights and a bright long-sleeved stripy tshirt. Plus my fab black winter boots!
I wear a lot of tee’s. This would be perfect with them for fall/winter.
I’d wear it over a pin-striped white and blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up to 3/4 length. Business-y but still a bit casual.
i’d wear it over button down shirts, and over long sleeved tees as well!
I will wear it over my usual work blouses to help extend my short-sleeved wardrobe further into the fall. Boring pants and heels too. I’ve been enchanted with this design ever since my book arrived.
Definitely with a long-sleeve button-up shirt. And jeans.
Love the photos — they really highlight the details.
I love this pattern.
I would wear it over a long sleeve shirt and my jeans and the colour would be definitely blue.
I’d. Wear it over a nice white shirt. Would be perfect with jeans or dress pants. Very cool design!
I would make mine a little longer and wear it with leggings and a long sleeve shirt underneath!
Mmmmmmmmm. Well Angostura is in first in my queue from Little Red in the city – I definitely want to make it before this wild Edinburgh summer turns into autumn. I fancy something red, layered over long-sleeve tees or the white dress shirt my husband no longer needs and which I’m refashioning for myself….
I would love to knit one! I would wear it over a longsleeved shirt (maybe in white?) and either trousers or with a skirt and tights . I would knit the Angostura in purple, grey or black.
I would love to win this – it’s such a lovely design (and I need a September project!). I’d make it in a bright colour to cheer me up for the autumn.
I’d go all 1970s with it: roll-neck long-sleeved tee and a corduroy A-line skirt. I’m thinking rich, deep colours and nothing black or grey in sight!
This vest looks like a perfect piece for wearing with a simple slim fit tee and a pair of jeans.
Over a t-shirt for early fall mornings, over a button down shirt under a jacket into fall. In a medium grey so it works with everything!
With verve! Over a pretty print dress for perfect autumn layering as it gets chillier.
I don’t currently have any vests in my knitting wardrobe but I have been thinking about making one for a long time. Depending on my mood, I would pair it with a highly contrasting button up shirt underneath, or a simple white shirt. And a skirt….always a skirt!
I would wear it over a short sleeved polo and jeans. :)
I would love to knit one of this. I would wear it on a roll-neck long-sleeved tea with a short skirt and thick tights.
I really like the color of the one on the pictures but I think something brighter like scuba blue or shanghai red could bring a little bit of a sun in the winter !
I would rock it with my purple and white button-down blouse and a slim black skirt…with fishnet stockings and Fluevog Chinoas.
I would wear it over a white blouse and my blue jeans skirt.
I would make one in red wool, and wear it with jeans, boots & a long-sleeved white T. Or make a light blue linen/cotton version to wear with a floral skirt & sandals. I might need one for every season!
I would wear it over a white tee, with jeans and a wool blazer, for walking the kids to school in the crisp autumn. (Can you tell I’m tired of summer?) It’s a beautiful pattern, thanks for the contest!
I would pair it with a crisp shirt, a denim skirt, opaque tights and some clunky shoes. Love it!!
kristinfitzgerald on Ravelry
This is the ultimate autumnal knit! I would love to make this in a nice warm color that reflects the changing colors if the leaves. Pair it with a tweed or tartan skirt and some long wooly socks and we’re good to go!
I totally rock the casual button-down at work, so I would knit this up in a steeley gray and match it with my plaid button downs with rolled up sleeves and black or khaki pants :)
Vests are the best–they are my favorite item of clothing. I’d wear it with a collared shirt or a T-shirt, with tails flapping; maybe under a jacket if the weather is getting cooler. I’d wear it all winter and into the spring. It’s essential.
As it happens, this is my favorite pattern in the book! I’ll be wearing mine over a crisp shirt, straight skirt and a pair of gorgeous black suede, heeled boots.
I’d like to make this as a present for my mom, who first introduced me to knitting and crochet when I was a wee lad!
I would wear it just the way it is pictured. I already have the perfect 3/4 sleeve white blouse in my closet.
I’d wear it under a jacket at work and over a long cotton tee with jeans for a casual weekend. :)
I’d wear it over a plain long sleeve tshirt with a simple a-line skirt and my ballet flats – very pretty, I think!
I’d wear it with jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt, simply :D
I’ll be wearing mine with a blue jean skirt and sandals. I like the little white blouse underneath, too. It is still very HOT here in Alabama! PS Amanda is gorgeous!
This is so exciting! This is next in my queue to knit. I would wear it in the winter months when the buildings are very warm. I’ve been dreaming of wearing this with a solid brown shirt I have that’s got orange colored stripes sleeves. I’ve also been thinking of wearing it with a top I’ve got that’s a cowl and hoodie.
I think I would pair it with any of my button down dress shirts and wear it to work! I’ve been eyeing this pattern for quite some time and Classic Elite makes some of my favorite yarns too!
This would be great work- wear. Comfy but dressy, esp. with a crisp white shirt underneath.
I would LOVE this in a gorgeous red like the pattern, this is one of my faes from the book :)
Love this pattern (ok, love every single pattern in the book and when my budget allows some yarn purchases, it will be towards something in this book!). I think it would be really cute with a short-sleeve button-up and skinny jeans and my riding boots.
Oh, what fun!
I’d probably go simple – a tank or cami underneath when it’s warmer outside or a long sleeved tee when it’s cooler, then pair it with jeans and cute shoes. :)
Mmmmm, love this, so many options too. I think I’d wear this over a cami and wear a blazer over in cooler months or with a 3/4 or long sleeve tee or button down. Great layering piece to dress up or down.
I would wear it with my j crew button down with khakis or grey pants
I’d knit this in a bold red, and give it a 50s, sweater-vest type look by teaming it with a bold print circle skirt and saddle shoes. A few pin curls in my hair and I’d be ready to go!
This looks lovely on Amanda – I would knit it in dark red and wear it over a classic white shirt.
i would wear it with a jeans and a long white t-shirt underneath.
White tshirt, jeans, timeless Angostura, and my doc martens. Sounds perfect!
I’d wear it with pride (and a smug smile at having made *myself* something!) I don’t own a copy of Little Red in the City yet, but I’ve drooled over my friend’s – she didn’t appreciate that – so I ought to have my own copy!
I’d wear it happily dancing down the streets! =)
I have big crush on Angostura! I’ve been wanting to wear it with a shirtdress, just like you in the photoshoot!
What a cute baby! :)
I love that vest! I haven’t knit one in years. I’m such a tomboy so I’d probably pair it with a button down, jeans, and boat shoes! Or make it cute with a tweed skirt. Oh the possibilities!
I would knit it in turquoise and wear it with a white or light blue/gray shirt. Great initiative!
I’d team it with with shirts to see me through all seasons except summer – love that the yarn is a cotton-wool blend – makes it perfect for anything except the warmest weather here in northern England!
I would probably mostly wear it at work – but can’t wait to see other people’s FOs to get inspiration for other ways to wear it. Love the colour Amanda used on hers too – it would go with everything!
Very generous!
I’d wear my angostura… all year round to combat the chilliness of the English weather. Do you think it would go nicely over a swimsuit?
I think it looks great with a shirt underneath and either jeans or slacks. I’d like to see it over a blouse and wearing a skirt, but I’m not sure whether a pencil skirt or a more voluminous skirt would look best.
I would knit this in a neutral color because my shirts themselves are all pretty bright. The extra layer of Angostura would be great to wear to the office, where the climate control is always up and down, I am chilly in the morning and hot in the afternoon.
And I love the book, the patterns are great and I would love to knit a pattern from the book as my first knitted piece of clothing (all I knit now are socks, I love socks!).
I love Ysolda’s patterns! I would wear it while running the kid carpool and errands and look fab doing it. Wearing my Angostura would be far more attrtactive than my flannel pants and t-shirt. ;)
I would Definitely knit it a little longer and with some negative ease to show off my curves! No shirt underneath as the extra bulk doesn’t usually work on me. Love the V neck!
I’d wear it paired with skinny t’s and slacks or a skirt in the office….on the weekends – a little corduroy skirt or jeans.
To wear it to work, I’d pair with a classic white dress shirt, maybe even black.
Since I do wear vests with a pair of jeans, I sometimes opt for a t-shirt underneath my vests or even a casually collared shirt that has a pattern to it.
This sweater is on my list to knit up!
I just ordered your book today before I saw this post! I can’t wait to get it and start learning/planning some better fitted knits than I’ve made before. I would wear mine with a t-shirt and jeans on casual days, t-shirt and possibly a skinny belt to work and most definitely as in the pic above with a nice button up cotton shirt. What a versatile piece!! rethers on rav
If I make one it will definitely be in something warm and squishy, living in a stone built cottage means my knits get worn all year round!
Believe it or not, I have never made a vest in my knitting life! This would be so cute over a blouse paired with a sassy skirt with knee socks and Mary Janes. However, in reality, my go-to outfit in fall/winter is a pair of jeans with a solid colored long sleeved tee or turtleneck and this vest would provide a nice extra layer of warmth with that combo.
Love this…it will be perfect for teaching and giving presentations! I generally like menswear styles, but this would be the perfect little touch of femininity to tweed trousers, buttondown, and my cozy brown men’s jacket. Beautiful!
It would be perfect over a long-sleeved t-shirt in the winter!
I’d wear it over a long sleeve shirt and with a handmade skirt.
I would wear in the fall over a turtleneck sweater – just the right thing to take the chill off.
I would wear mine to work and at home under a cute tee!
So cute! I have a million button down shirts I wear to work and Angostura would look great over them.
I’ve never really been a vest person, but this might be the pattern to change that! I would probably wear it on my first day back in class – either as teacher or student, depending on when I’m able to turn it into an FO – with a classic white button-down and either a pair of smart trousers and killer pumps (if teaching) or a pair of skinny jeans and simple flats (if not).
I would wear it with a long shirt (I used to have a “grandfather shirt”, down to the middle of my thighs), a pair of jeans, a nice pair of shoes (Fluevog Amanda if I had the funds..) and a beret. Berets are the new scarves ;-)
I will wear it with some cute slacks! I am no longer working and have time to knit knit knit!!
I love sweater-vests, and I wear mine with jeans and long-sleeved t-shirts, or button up shirts. They’re perfect for fall and spring in New England :)
I love to layer, so it would definitely be used a lot! It’s in my list of must knits.
With a white t-shirt and a little neck scarf. Adorable!!
This vest is rockin’. I’d wear it with nothing under it in warmer weather and over a t-shirt when it’s a little cooler. Long sleeve tee in the winter!
This would be a three season garment for me here in the Southern US. I’d wear it over button down shirts and t-shirts to work and at play.
I’d make mine in the lovely, warm, autumnal Caramel, and wear it over a black dress to the office when it finally cools off around here. I know black and browns aren’t supposed to go together, but I love the combination! It would also go beautifully with a white t-shirt and jeans on casual Fridays or those weekends when I want to be a little more put together.
I would wear it very carefully. To my preschool. On a day with no paint! When it is no longer two hundred degrees outside. Your book is beautiful and I would love to add it to my collection!
Love! I would wear mine (in red) over a longer, almost tunic length top with a little bit of flowiness to the hemline. This would balance out the structure of the Angostura. I would pair this with slim fitting boot-cut jeans or even a pair of capris. I can’t wait to make this!
I would wear mine with a little dress or with a tunic and slim jeans and boots. Thanks for this contest, I’d love to receive your book and to knit mine Angostura !
I love the puffy sleeves from the photo shoot, but I also think it would look good with longer fitted sleeves and a pair of jeans! Perfect!
I think I’d wear it almost every day over different outfits to bridge the seasons between swimming and skiing.
I’d love wearing this over a soft long sleeve tee shirt with comfy old boyfriend jeans & my favorite moccasins – cosy ^v^.
Cute new glasses & baby!
Gigi
I would wear mine Angostura with a pair of sleek black pants and a button down shirt – one way to make a boring office outfit a bit more fun.
Hmm… I’ve never worn a tank top before but angostura is really tempting (not to mention reminding me of one of my favourite cocktail ingredients).
I think I would wear it over one of my favourite slim fitting long sleeve cotton/modal t-shirts.
i would wear it with a tee shirt underneath and a full, knee length skirt!
I would love to add Augostura to my fall wardrobe. I would wear it over a three quarter or long sleeve shirt with either jeans or slacks.
Ooh, what a great giveaway!! I’d wear mine over a floral button up to school–and I would definitely pair it with spectacles!
What a versatile article of clothing! I could wear it to work layered over a 3/4 or long sleeved shirt or blouse with my dress pants or on weekend with my skinny jeans. I love Ysolda’s patterns. Oh , and I could also wear my Ishbel as an accessory or one if my long chain necklaces would look great, too!
Oooh, I love this pattern! You can really dress it up or down. I would knit it in red and put it over a white blouse and charcoal slacks with heels. And then wear it over a black t-shirt and jeans and black boots on the weekend.
i would wear mine in a lovely autumnal red, with my tissue long sleeved shirts & denim jeans..perfect for walking eldest granddaughter to school this fall!
Oh my goodness, a better question would be how “wouldn’t” I wear it! I think my cute pink skirt and my white puffy cap sleeved top would be brilliant for it’s first outing… and then with my plaid charcoal skirt for it’s second outing.. and I have a gorgeous red dress that it would look perfect with… and I also have the cutest pair of capris that are screaming for this vest… you see what I mean… lol.
I would wear Angostura with a fitted shirtdress I have from H&M, with tights and shoes with small heels.
I love vests because they provide enough warmth, but do not bulk up too much. I would knit mine in a rich colour – purple, red, orange are favourites – and wear it over a blouse and wide-legged trousers or a below-the knit A line skirt for the office, or over a dress (I’m thinking one with a little collar and buttons down the front).
I love wearing vests at work! This one is so cute.
I would want to make my Augostura in a deep cranberry red, with black denims, black shirt and black hair, it would be very much the signature piece of my outfit.
Colder weather will soon be here. This would be a great garment to keep warm and to wear with layers. Made in a bright colour, of course!
I’d wear it with a crisp white shirt and the lanesplitter skirt I’m gonna make one day.
The Angostura is so versatile. I think I would love to wear it with a white frilly, puffy sleeved top. But I could also see me throwing it on over a tank. Lovely pattern.
Mine will be worn over a fitted tee with a kick pleat skirt, tights and my favorite pair of Danskos. Hmmmm… maybe chocolate brown?
I’d love mine to be in that gorgeous shade of red featured on the pattern page and I’d wear it with a pair of faded jeans and a crisp white shirt. And I have a perfect red necklace to go with it :) Thanks for the giveaway!
I think that I would wear it in a gray…possibly with a bright pink shirt underneath. Love the texture on it!
I’d likely knit this in orange! I’d wear it vest over a ruffled white short-sleeve tee with a brown tweed herringbone kilt-style skirt, olive green patterned tights with cream/tan/yellow over-the-knee socks or legwarmers, and my favorite rust-colored moccasins…the perfect fall look!
I would wear it as a tank top with jeans. And when it gets colder, over a longsleeved tshirt
I would like mine in bright red. I would were it with a blue vintage dress. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d love to wear mine Angostura (i’ll make one in red or green) with a black winter dress!
What do you think?
Thanks for the giveaway!
The Angostura’s lovely. I’m thinking Angostura over a peter pan – collar blouse, long pencil skirt, boots; glasses, lipstick, knowing smile–sexy librarian!
I love the color Amanda used! It’s very versatile. I’d pair it with a nice tweed skirt or a pair of jeans. It’s a timeless piece that could go with just about anything. Add the right accessories and it can go from ultra dressy to casual in a moments notice.
This would likely become a staple in my wardrobe in varying colors.
I would pair it with a pair of black pants and a button down top to wear to my new job. I think that it would give me a little added confidence as I take on some new professional challenges!
the cable detailing on the back of Angostura is the first thing in Little Red that caught my eye. I’d make it in red and wear it over a 3/4 length sleeve white shirt with a black and white plaid full skirt and knee high boots.
I live in hot, humid Mississippi. I am also ‘une femme d’un certain age.’ The design is wonderful and classic. This would be a great addition to a wardrobe in a climate that never gets very cold. Thanks.
I would wear mine with a huge smile!
I love this vest! I run on the cold side, and so wear lots of layers. I’d probably wear this over a long-sleeved shirt in the winter to keep toasty. Thanks!
I would make it a bit longer, where it over a tee and with leggings.
I love vests and the details on Angostura are gorgeous! I’d wear it over a long sleeved tee for a casual look or a button up blouse for the office. Casually, it’d go great with jeans and for the office I’d love to pair it with an a-line skirt. What a great giveaway – thanks!
I tried on a sample of this pattern at knitnation, and it was one of the things that made me decide I would definitely buy the book. I, like so many others, would mostly wear it over a shirt, and would probably accidentally choose to do so on the same day my husband wore his sleeveless cabled sweater over a shirt – we’d be a matching pair :D
With a light blouse and floaty sort of a skirt it would make for a nice feminine look.
Lovely pattern :)
*squee* That’s my baby!
Ahem.
I don’t normally wear vests but I would probably wear this one with a black top underneath, over a skirt with my big stompy knee high boots. And a baby.
I’d probably make it in some sort of green and wear it with a white button-down and khakis for work. It’s perfect because button down shirts and I do not get along, but this would keep the gaping to a minimum. This is the perfect piece for my growing librarian wardrobe!
Black long sleeved t shirt, a denim pencil skirt, peep toe black heels and red lips.
I would wear it with a long sleeved tshirt over jeans. I love the book. Thanks for the chance to win it.
I would wear it with toddlers attached. That’s how I wear everything. The toddlers would also be wearing handknit sweaters. So many pretty colors to choose from!
What fun! I just bought a black oxford shirt for the fall and I think I would pair it with Angostura – maybe in a oatmeal or beige. Just need to get myself a tweed skirt to make the outfit! Think I would make it in a 34 or 36.
what a shame the babe’s not included!!
I have always loved tank tops, even when they were completely out of fashion. perfect under a fitted jacket, perfect over a t-shirt, perfect with a summer dress, perfect for winter. I like Angostura’s detail on the back very very much! So – include me in the draw, even though I am number 176 in the queue!
Yay! This is my favorite pattern from the book and I can’t wait to make it! I LOVE a vest for fall. I’ll wear it over a collared shirt for work and over a long sleeve tee on the weekend.
I can’t get enough of your book. I am learning so much, and I can’t believe how much information you have in that one book! Thank you so much!
With a vintage white blouse with peter pan collar, short puff sleeves, and pearl buttons; a tweedy, gored A-line skirt; colored fishnet tights, and high-heeled Steve Madden mary janes. Tortoise shell hair combs and pearl earrings a must. :)
Oh, what a great giveaway! I’d probably wear it over many things – vests are so versatile like that! However, since I am starting law school in the fall, this would be a great item to have to stay warm and still have some style while I’m studying, studying, studying!
I would probably wear it by itself in the summer, with a shirt in spring and fall and under a jacket in the winter. I might drop the neckline a little and have it be able to get super glamourous because I usually wear camis to fill in the bust area at work. But that way it could serve lots of ways!
I’m a teacher, so in order to brighten up my classes, I’d knit it in a vibrant red or cerise pink, worn over a crisp white blouse, ready for back-to-school chic
I really like this vest, especially the rib details. I’d wear it with a 3/4 silk henley I have and a pencil skirt. Or with jeans or cords.
I’ll wear mine with wide leg tweed trousers and oxfords!
I love a vest, and I’m loving this vest especially. Stylish but interesting to knit – I’m thinking in a charcoal with a little cap sleeve shirt and a full light grey linen skirt and charcoal tights for work, or maybe in red with some dark pinstripe trousers and a black shirt with red shoes, or maybe in teal with white shirt, dark jeans and some Toms….How to choose?
I think this vest would look stunning as a dress wear with semi-transparent blouse (like chiffon) of similar or lighter color. No necklace, but ideally with large earring somewhat resembling cables (crocheted?!) I would also make it a little longer (I am short-waisted).
I’m probably the world’s most boring dresser but I’m passionate about V-necked anything… I’d wear this with a 3/4 or long sleeve tee and jeans, and everyone would gasp with amazement at how “dressed up” I am!
I’d wear it over a brightly colored button down collared shirt, with jeans and a pair of great shoes.
I’d wear it with a great collared shirt in the fall… Can’t wait to make this one!
The white shirt is always a favorite of mine.
I will wear it on my first day of school… I’m the teacher….:)
Thanks!
I’ll wear my Angostura over a collared shirt at work and over a long-sleeved t-shirt when I need extra warmth on the weekend.
I would wear it with a plain shirt underneath and with a brightly patterned skirt with some awesomely bright flats. Such a flattering pattern!
I think this would look amazing at work over a contrasting dress shirt. It would also be perfect with jeans and a long sleeved T. Awesome contest!
I would wear it over my thin, black, wool, long sleeved t-shirt with skinny jeans and tall boots. Perfect for fall!
I will wear mine with a polo t-shirt to go back to school in september after a 13 years hiatus.
Ooooh – Angostura is my favorite new pattern!! How exciting – I would love to win. I will wear it over a red striped collared shirt and a skirt with tights – cosy and warm!
I’ve been wanting to knit myself a vest. I’d wear it with a long sleeved tee, tights, and a wool skirt.
I’d wear mine with a t shirt or long sleeve dress shirt.
Angostura is an incredibly versatile piece, my favorite in a book of great patterns. It can be worn with anything I wear day-to-day at home and to the office – tank tops, short; 3/4 or long sleeves, jeans, skirts & dress pants. I would wear it with all of the above! My main accesssories: colorful earrings and a pashmina in the winter. This vest would be perfect with the Eastern patterning of a pashmina.
I love the way you styled it with just a white button down shirt underneath. And jeans of course!
I’ve been wanting to knit a sweater but am always disappointed by the fit. This book would be perfect to help me achieve my dream!
What a great giveaway! I’d probably wear mine over a button up shirt for some dressy-ness. I’m not usually a vest person, but it looks really cute and I need to dress up my wardrobe once in a while, so that would be the perfect thing to spice it up.
I’ll definitely be wearing mine with sleeves at least 3/4 length – probably over shirts at work but hopefully with some dresses at the weekend too! I’m really looking forward to making it :)
I will wear my Angostura at my new (dream!) job: teaching public school!
Angostura is one of the first sweaters I want to make from Little Red. I’ll probably wear it the way Amanda’s wearing it in the pictures – with a button down shirt underneath. I have a few sweater vests that I wear that way and the look is great for work.
This is the perfect top year-round for the climate here in the southwestern US desert (think Arizona heat and you’ll be right!).
My immediate thought was to make Angostura in CEY’s Scuba Blue (my favorite Chesapeake colorway), but then they came out with Sage for this fall, and I realized there was no reason I couldn’t make two of them … 8^)
Angostura will be worn over a camisole, and the nice vee neckline detail will provide a subtle focus for a bold necklace. This top will be the “it” piece of my outfit du jour, paired with either simple dark-colored pants or a white or tan skirt.
Many thanks for a wonderful contest!
I would wear this so many ways! I’d wear it as a tank top in the summer with shorts, I’d wear it as a layering piece over a crisp dress shirt in the fall and winter (much as the gorgeous Amanda did in the photos here!) – with jeans, dressed down, or with a nice pair of slacks for a slightly dressier feel.
So Much Love for this piece!
I’d love to wear this with a long sleeved shirt and jeans, that’s my staple wardrobe for the fall and winter!!!
I would wear it just like in the book!
Ooh, such a versatile piece! I’d wear it with a polo shirt :0)
Definitely over a white collared blouse with 3/4 sleeves and jeans. It looks a really flattering style.
Probably over a sundress so that I can wear my summer dresses in the cooler months!
Holy smokes, what an awesome giveaway! I’m thinking I’d wear it over a long sleeve t shirt with one of my wool skirts, tights, and boots, but I’m sure I could come up with many more possibilities!
I have always wanted a vest to wear over my red plaid shirt; this vest looks perfect for it.
I will wear Angostura with brand new jeans and a collared shirt because if I should happen to be lucky enough to win this contest I’m going shopping!
Thank you for the fabulous contest and great book.
Ooo! Angostura is at the top of my list to knit from Little Red. I’m thinking I’d wear it over a loose blouse with skinny jeans and flats or over a denim dress with boots. Oh, now I can’t wait for fall… finger’s crossed!!!
Oh no, I’ll have to go shopping to find shirts to wear with my Angostura! Darn it!
This is a perfect sweater for my often often foggy hometown. I would wear it as a vest with tees on those chilly foggy days and either as a tank or layered with a tank or short-sleeve tee when the sun finally breaks through!
I’ll wear it period!!!!
With a smart white blouse, a kilt and knee high boots. I just love it and hope I’ll be the lucky one to win it!
Thanks for the chance to win!! I think I would wear it like Amanda, but I do like brighter colors!!
Lovely design! ;)
I prefer to wear vest over a long-sleeved shirt and with jeans or straight gray velvet skirt.
I’ve been wanting to knit a vest just like this! just the right combination of comfort and style. I’d dress it up with a collared shirt or layered under a jacket. Or wear it more casually with a simple T. It would be perfect for back to school teacher wardrobe!
love love love the patterns in this book! thanks Ysolda!
I love classic designs and would wear this to my new job – it’s at a boutique and I’m supposed to “not be frumpy”….which is hard for me!
Fun! always game for something knit-worthy! (and the pattern sure is!)
I’ve been debating how to wear it. I think I need to go shopping for some cute clothes to go with my Angostura!
To me, Angostura seems to be versatile all year long. In the Spring and Summer with a flouncy skirt and strappy sandles to wear to a picnic with friends, Fall with blue jeans, collared shirt and boots to wear to a bonfire, and in the Winter as an extra layer for keeping warm while sled riding. I would keep the color neutral, i.e. grayscale, so that it can be versatile all year long.
I would wear it with jeans, naturally!
I especially love that little cable motif in the back – that’s awesome.
I’m about to move back to South Korea, where they have notoriously cold winters. So, as unfashionable as it probably is, I’d be wearing my Angostura over long-sleeve tees to class up my wardrobe a little, and maybe give me a little bit of a teacher look.
I’d wear it with blue jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt – I think it would lend a nice little professional touch to my usually very casual office wear.
I LOVE it in grey and also the white shirt under. Just how it is styled in the photo is how I would choose to wear it!
I am loving Little Red in the City and I can’t wait to start a project from it. (I have several going now- but what the heck- maybe I will start more!)
Thanks- Rhonda
I would knit this in a lovely brown or black so I could wear it with a nice bright pop of color in the form of a collared shirt. It is such a classic pattern!
With a white shirt and dress pants for work.
I just love this design! So versitile! I would love to knit one in gray to wear with a white or red shirt. Also, I ´d knit one in yellow to wear with a gray turleneck.
With a floral patterned short sleeved cotton shirt I already have, and either jeans to be casual, or a skirt for dress up. Would really love the book too!
No idea really, this is probably my least favourite pattern of the book. I guess I would wear it with a skirt and a t-shirt with poffed sleeves, elegant and feminine and of course high heels. There you got me thinking about it, I might as well knit it
i love this pattern. you could dress it up or down. i would mainly wear it to work with a white button down shirt. so super cute!!
I would love to knit this! I would knit it in a bright color like a teal or blue and I would wear it with blue jeans or a short skirt with tights. I would love to have your book! Great patterns!
I would wear it with a long sleeved t-shirt and cropped pants or jeans. Maybe a skirt. This is a very versatile layering piece. I love color so I would choose maybe scuba blue, true blue, mandarin orange – they are all good.
This is one of my favorite patterns from the book. I would love to make one in a neutral shade that I could wear over my standard 3/4 length shirt with either jeans or a skirt.
I plan on wearing it with aplomb and bravado. Oh, you meant sartorially? Hopefully with a brightly contrasting collared shirt underneath, maybe something with a Peter Pan or Mandarin style collar…
I’d wear this vest over a long-sleeved t-shirt, or a collared shirt on those days when it’s not quite cold enough for a sweater, but you need some extra warmth in the office.
Lovely design! I would most likely wear it with a long sleeved t-shirt or shirt.
Thanks for the giveaway! I love that color blue. For work I would probably style it like Amanda is wearing it–over a white oxford shirt and maybe with a pencil skirt. I also love the look of sweater vests over t-shirts for a casual weekend look!
This would be an excellent addition to my professional wardrobe. Worn with wide trousers or atop a blouse with a skirt, I would be stylin’. Go ahead. Pick me.
I’d have to wear it with a collarless shirt or a scoop-neck t-shirt – it would be a real shame to hide all that fab detail at the neck and shoulders. Lovely pattern (and model)!
I’d wear it over a blouse and under a jacket! All my suits are pretty boring colours, so a colourful vest is an excellent addition.
I’d do a geeky back to school Annie Hall vibe. Maybe a bow tie!
For storytime, of course… I’m a children’s librarian…
I think it would be a great layering piece for fall/winter over a long sleeved shirt with the usual jeans. Or a button-down if I’m feeling dressy! I’m just not sure if I should make it in a neutral color or perhaps something bolder and brighter? One of each.
I’d wear it over a short-sleeved blouse with puffy sleeves or over a dress.
I’d love to knit this up in a deep rich red to wear over a long sleeved t and a pair of jeans and my ever present blundstones!
Over a long, long-sleeved, striped tee shirt, with cords and blundstones.
I’d definitely wear this to work or play – over a button-down shirt, most likely. Thanks for the contest!
Angostura is such a versatile pattern. I think would wear it mostly over button up shirts. It’s such an elegant vest.
i would pull it over a sculpture of a woman which stands in the little town where i study. i have never seen something like this any time so i think people would be surprised =) and afterwards wear it myself.
Knit in a dark brown over a 3/4 sleeved peacock blue shirt.
oh my how i want this! i love angotura and i would wear it over a button down shirt with some skinny cropped pants..ala audrey hepburn style! thanks for the great giveaway!!!
I would wear mine with an A-line skirt and a white shirt. In colors of grey and burgundy. I tend to dress like a librarian.
I love layering pieces and vests are so versatile. This design has great details and I’d probably wear this one eight months of the year knit up in a deep purple. Thanks for the contest and the chance.
Oooh, I’ve been drooling over the book! It’s fantastic! Thanks for the chance to win one and yarn too!
Oops! Forgot to say I’d wear mine with trouser jeans and a white tee!
Oh the possibilities are endless! Dress it up or dress it down. As I am looking to go back to work in the corporate world, I’m thinking my Angostura would be great worn over a long sleeve button down silk shirt with flowy sleeves. ohhh, how I hope I win!
Oh, how exciting. I just love the details on this pattern. Yeah Classic Ellite!
Awesome vest! Love the project bag as well.
I’d wear it like in the picture with a collared shirt underneath so that I could wear it to work, or if it were hot outside I might wear it as a tanktop.
oh how perfect this would be for Florida fall/winter weather. I have also been wanting your book so badly… since I have your others it would make me happy to have it on my shelf. fingers crossed. (which makes knitting awfully hard you know?!)
One of my favourite patterns in the book! I showed my Mum and she loves it too … I may have convinced her to buy the book. Anyway, I’d wear my Ango as often as I could, and it would most commonly be with a button-up shirt underneath, just as the samples show. It’s super cute with short sleeves, as Amanda’s wearing it in the photo.
I would wear it over a long-sleeve t-shirt with my favorite jeans.
I’d love to realize angostura and wear it with a very long skirt, over a v-neck T-shirt and a coloured necklace.
Well, I am recently retired, so I would wear mine over a long-sleeved t-shirt to keep me warm while I continue to organize my craft room and enjoy the peacefulness of my own routine. Thanks for the chance to enter.
What a gorgeous vest! I would knit mine maybe an inch longer and wear it with straight slacks and heels. A great look for work!
I would wear it with a dress or jeans or over my tennis gear as I cycle to court
I would try to get a couple of different ways to wear it- both over a button up for when I’m shelving books at my job at the bookstore, under a t-shirt for a quick run to the ice cream store, or even over a long sleeve to keep my core warm while climbing up the cliffs at my local crag if the colors were nice and bright- good for climbing pictures! :)
To be honest I probably would were it much like Amanda has worn it in the book. It looks like such and amazing layering piece to have in the wardrobe. I really love the vest.
I’d wear it with a simple long-sleeved t-shirt, jeans, and my favorite broken-in motorcycle boots!
With a cute printed top and wide leg jeans
I love vests, especially with skirts. I’d knit it in red, and wear it with a crisp white blouse and a skirt that features a large black and white floral print, the latter which I don’t wear nearly enough because I always struggle to pair something with it. I’d probably also knit up a pair of knee socks to match the vest, and wear chunky heels. Or Doc Martens.
I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal so it will be worn with those alot.
I also think it’s a perfect layering piece for fall over a nice blouse with some of my winter skirts. It’s next in my queue!
How exciting! I would wear it with a denim skirt, blouse and perhaps even try a bow tie!
It is such a sweet little sweater and reminds me of going back to school. I can see myself channeling my inner teacher and wearing the angostura paired with a tweedy skirt and a crisp white button-down shirt.
I love vests and would wear mine with my jeans and a white shirt. It would look great in a bright fuscia. Thanks for the contest.
Oh this is so much fun! I have a sincere lack of vests in my wardrobe. I’m really into plaid for the fall, so I’d have to say that I’d pair it with a plaid button-up, ‘boyfriend’ khakis and a pair of Mary Janes.
Over a long-sleeved tee with my favorite grey and blue plaid skirt. It would be totally awesomely gorgeous in some shade of grey-ish blue :-)
What a lovely giveaway! I would definitely wear it over a neutral-colored 3/4 sleeve tee and jeans with some fun flats. Thank you!
I would knit this little number in an Orange and wear it with longer sleeve beige t-shirt in the winter in California or short sleeve for spring and fall…excellent of teaching in…lovely pattern
LOVELY!!! great giveaway!
would layer with a long or short sleeve shirt, depending on the season, a knee length skirt and boots. and i would STRUT my stuff!
I love the subtle details of this vest. I’d want to wear it over a smart shirt dress or with jeans, a fitted oxford, and riding boots this fall! very cute!
I love wearing a vest to work over a plain white button down shirt. You can wear the same white button down and make it look different every day with a different vest!
I love a sweater vest over a white button down, maybe with 3/4 length sleeves. Jeans, skirts, just about anything works on the bottom! Thanks for the giveaway and the lovely work you do.
I love this vest – I’d wear this with a button-down shirt and an a-line skirt and boots, which is probably a very out of date look but I’m comfortable with it :)
I’d wear it over a long sleeved shirt in the office.
Since my return to the office is imminent, I figure I should make the Angostura business-appropriate by wearing it over a collared shirt. I think the vest will look equally great with a pair of pants, or a nice a-line skirt. What a wonderful giveaway!
I would knit this fabulous vest in red then wear it over a long sleeved white shirt…I have a really cute one with a rounded collar that would be perffect. Add jeans and converse chucks in red..my favorite color!
It’s such a beautiful design, and perfect for the oncoming fall. I’d wear mine with cords, over a brightly coloured shirt or long-sleeved T.
Hmm, I think I would try it with some plaid button-up shirts I have… definitely with a skirt!
I would wear such a lovely vest along with a crisp white cotton shirt, for an elegant, tailored look, along with a woolen jacket and skirt.
What a lovely slipover! I would love to win the yarn and the book!
I would wear the slipover over a dress together with knitted longstockings.
I would wear it either with a white button down shirt or tee shirt for a more casual look. Or I have been toying with the idea of knitting on sleeves to make it fit better into my wardrobe. Love the cables.
I would wear this with a tweed skirt and a long-sleeved blouse.
I love the look of Angostura over a collared white shirt, maybe then pair it with a plaid miniskirt and boots for a little fun?
A mock turtleneck or a button-down shirt would be my choice, beautiful lines! I like the idea of sleeves too.
I’d use it as smart wear I think. Over a shirt & with a black skirt or trousers for work. I love being able to bring knitting into my working life!
Being a SAHM, I don’t get much opportunity for dressing up. However, I do go to church every Sunday and the Lord deserves me taking the time to spruce up a bit. :o)
Plus, I’ve been getting healthy and losing weight, so I’d love to be able to show off a more svelte Cristi-Lael in this beautiful top.
Mine would be perfect for work. I would wear it over a boring shirt and it would give me that little bit of luxury. Yum. x
Over a plaid button-up shirt with jeans. I’ve been searching for the right vest for this outfit!
I love it! I would wear it to work with a pencil skirt and either a collared shirt or a bright T underneath and stiletto heels.
over a plaid button-up shirt with jeans. been searching for just the right vest.
I love this vest, and I would wear it with some flattering jeans tucked into my favorite brown boots, and pair it with a classic men’s style crisp white button-down shirt.
Not sure how I would wear it, I would have to think about it…..while I knit it up. Enter me to win win win!!!
Several weeks ago I requested this book from our library….they had to buy it…..but I am first on the list when it comes in…
I think it looks wonderful over the blouse pictured on the model. I would also wear it over a long sleeved, crew neck, t-shirt. The design looks interesting and fun.
I like to wear a crisp white shirt under vests. I like wearing thin layers rather than bulky sweaters. I love Ysolda’s pattern–it’s simple lines are what I like.
I love vests for work in my super air conditioned in summer and over heated in winter office. I appreciate any garment that can cross the micro-climates I experience at work!
I love the look on the model with a crisp white shirt, but I would also wear a long sleeved t or turtleneck even.
It looks so lovely over a crisp white shirt. I would probably go for a heathery green and wear it with all my long sleeved T’s and jeans, to keep my snow layers looking more respectable. Thanks!
This pattern is at the top of my list – something I can imagine actually finishing for myself after a hot summer of knitting a fisherman aran knit for my husband (almost done)! I would wear it with a tailored long sleeved shirt and jeans – my usual daily uniform! Thanks for the contest!
I love sweater vests and I wear them to work all the time with button down blouses and pencil skirts. I also love the layered look with jeans. I can’t wait to make Angostura!
I work from home so i would pair this with cotton t-shirts in all sleeve lengths for a little extra warmth, without the bulk. I would make it in a deep jewel tone like fuschia or purple.
I would wear it to show off my svelte new bod……..already have lost 8 lbs in one month!! whoot whoot
I’d wear it pretty much as you style it on the book, with a cute dress for a dressier ocassion or simply with a tee and jeans for school! And I don’t really know why, since I usually wear bright colors, but lately I’ve been thinking on knitting a dark vest (maybe gray or black).
Soooo pretty! I’d wear it with a t-shirt (long- or short-sleeved) and jeans. Having scrolled through the other comments, though, I think you could seriously wear it anytime with anything….
I would wear my Angostura with at white shirt, black tie and a checked, pleated skirt, kneeehigh stockings (knitted ofcourse:-).
I’m thinking it would be great over a silky t-shirt and a casual skirt and my shiny red shoes. I love how it’s styled in the book pictures too, I could see it being very versatile!
I’ve knit several vests for my husband, but never one for myself. I’d knit Angostura in either Mandarin orange or true blue – perfect for a Canadian fall with jeans or khakis.
The Angostura is lovely enough to wear on its own, which I would — paired with a flowing print skirt and some funky jewelry. ‘Twould also be marvelous over a featherweight long-sleeved t-shirt and paired with skinny jeans.
This is so gorgeous! I would probably wear it with something comfy like a long sleeved t-shirt and a skirt since I stay at home now!
Well I think for me it wouldbe with a shirt / blouse underneath for work. Smart enough to satisfy the boss but individual enough to satisfy me :)
I love a vest. Especially this one!! Thanks for a chance to win some beautiful yarn (love the project bag–glad baby isn’t included).
purl
I’ll be rockin’ my Angostura over a linen tunic and wide-leg wool pants for a little warming layer this fall. Mmm-hmm!
Perfect vest for dressing up and dressing down! Great for work to keep the core warm during winter, great with jeans for weekends. I would make it in red – good luck will certainly follow!
Over my summerdress. I think chocolate brown cause the dress has white and brown flowers.
I would totally layer this up with everything! I’d also consider modifying it into a dress. I think it would look lovely as a dress with opaque tights and really great boots or mary-janes.
With librarian chic: white blouse, tweed and brogues
What a wonderful offer! I’d wear my Angostura over a striped turtleneck in the fall while walking out over the Hogsback (a narrow bit of road over a deep gorge in southern Utah) to watch the sunset. Color on color on color!
Oooh, I’d probably wear it smart, with a dark shirt and pleated skirt.
I would wear my Agnostura on my favorite night of the week…Date Night with my dear hubby of 39 years!
I’d wear this to work – I teach, so I think it would be perfect! A nice autumnal color would do the trick. :)
With a t-shirt and jeans, like everything else I wear. ;-)
It would look great over a white shirt and jeans on a chilly college campus this fall!
Looking at the pictures, I know exactly how I will wear this. Over a t-shirt or short sleeved shirt with a skirt. It may sound a bit boring, but I made the decision this weekend to revamp my wardrobe and stop dressing like I’m still a student, because now I am Dr. Vicky, astrophysicist extraordinaire!! :) I’m thinking a golden yellow colour, or possibly a deep red. Just because I’m not a student anymore doesn’t mean I can’t wear colours :)
I’d love to knit this in a neutral colour and wear it over a long sleeved tee with jeans. It would also look fab over a smart blouse with a straight skirt and knee length boots.
I am a middle school English teacher who loves to wear hand knits in the classroom. Vest are very so very wearable and practical for teachers (schools are cold places). Over a white shirt with khakis (like the lovely model) would clearly be a regular option, but I am sure the vest would pair nicely with a skirt and blazer for those days when I meet with parents and want to look a tad more dressy. I am sure that the vest would make a great casual Friday ensemble paired with a gray long sleeved tee and jeans. I would knit mine in some deep wine-y plum shade and pair with black trousers as often as possible.
I love the look of this vest! It would be great to have this fall as I travel to North Carolina to be with my daughter for the birth of my granddaughter! Definitely a great look (and comfortable, too) with a blouse and jeans for traveling by plane.
I am desperately in need of clothes for the office. Whenever I get another job, that is. Thankfully, most of the offices I work in are business casual, so I’d love something in a jewel tone with a long sleeve tee or collared shirt with jeans & clogs.
Red….definitely red! Layered over a white shirt and jeans. :)
love the vest and the book and pattern are charming
If I didn’t have grandma arms, I’d wear the Angostura by itself. But since I’ve the floppy bits, I think a 3/4 sleeve blouse or T-shirt would be a better choice. And with a skirt.
Oh what an awesome vest! I would wear it with a white t-shirt underneath and add a scarf that had some virbrant matching colors to go with the vest. Make it a little fun and sassy.
I would wear it over a button down shirt or a T-Shirt.
Erika
Hey Ysolda, Thanks for doing this giveaway contest. I plan on wearing my Angostura over a thin long-sleeved collared shirt with a skirt. :)
What a great, versatile design!
Lisa
I would totally wear it with my flounciest dress complete a massively over the top underskirt underneath and the cute cap sleeves poking out.
I live in LA so I’m not much for wearing layers. I’d knit it in a light color and wear it as a tank!
I would so much love to receive a copy of “Little Red in the City” as I am a big fan of Ysolda Teague’s sense of style and fashion. The Angostura is another must have! I would make mine in the Shanghai Red colorway, and wear it over jeans–perfect! I would likely knit it somewhat shorter than shown, since as a short person, I look best wearing vests and seaters that end just above the widest point of my hips.
I’d probably wear this with a pair of dressy dark jeans (I always wear jeans) and over a light long sleeved shirt or 3/4 sleeve shirt in the winter or a nice button down shirt. It gets cold in my office in the winter time and this would be very cute and appropriate for the office!
I’m carrying some extra weight in my middle (two babies!) and have been thinking about knitting some vests to make my boring old jeans and a t-shirt style more flattering.
I cant wait to make one of these vests. With Fall coming soon to my home area (Buffalo, NY) I like to wear seeveral layers. I really cant wear sweaters to work because sometimes the heat is too much and the vest will be perfect.
I have a dress I bought last summer that’s a bit too strappy on it’s own (and too cleavage-y for work). I have a knitting fantasy of making my own Angostura to pair with it, either in a grey/blue (it would blend in w/ the dress) or bright red (to really make it stand out!). I’m really working on adding more knitted tops/ sweaters etc into my wardrobe and this piece is so versatile. I love it!!!!
I would wear it with an button down shirt or a long sleeved tee in the fall and winter. It would be a versatile addition to my wardrobe.
I like to wear jeans or corduroy pants with stretchy long-sleeved t-shirts and a vest would be the perfect addition in the often-chilly San Francisco weather.
I would wear this vest with pride and confidence! Everywhere!
A smile ,jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt. Boots with heels. Sorted!
I know that I would wear this to work over a crisp white shirt. I always need an extra layer since my office is in the basement!
I’ll make it in cheery yellow and wear it under a raincoat here in the midwest.
I could definitely see this as a go to garment. As a retiree, I spend a good chunk of my life in jeans–I see this vest with a Stewart plaid shirt. Yum!
I’d probably wear it as a tank most of the time. It’s so seldom chilly enough for layers where I am. When it is chilly though, it’ll go over a t-shirt.
I would be comfortable with this paired with jeans or a skirt. I think it looks fantastic with a collared shirt underneath!
I would style this lovey up with a short sleeve linen blouse, linen khaki skirt some summery shoes and pride!
I’m really looking forward to making one…two…three…of these. My current colour palette seems to be channelling peacock feather colours – greens, teals and glorious flashes of yellow. Not all together though, that might be a bit much. I love a good tank top – excellent for disguising those button-related challenges that us overly-endowed ladies have to wrestle with :-)
I’d make it longer and wear it with khaki’s. jeans or a black skirt, with a tee under or dress shirt with the tails out.
i’ll wear mine at my first post-grad school teaching job over a white blouse, gray slacks, and the red fluevogs i plan to buy myself as a present for finishing my ph.d.!
Over a dress or a button up for work. Seems like it could easily be styled with slacks or jeans. The classroom I teach in gets chilly once fall gets going, and absolutely frigid in the winter, so layers are a must :)
I think I’d wear it with a tank, thin jeans, and flip flops in the summer and with a 3/4 length sleeve white button down, jeans, and nice sneakers in the winter. I like how casual but also tidy it is! :) I’m feeling maybe a soft heather gray color so it matches everything! :)
That looks like a great vest to chase away chills in the office in winter! I’d make it in a bright colour (maybe orange?) to wear over a white shirt and tweed pants.
It’s really the perfect piece for the office. I’m not a suit-type girl, but this vest instantly makes a button-down & slacks look stylish and professional.
I love to wear vests. I would wear Angostura over a long sleeved tee with jeans on weekends and with slacks for work during the week. Vests are perfect in this climate, not too hot or cold. That grey is a perfect color-it would go with everything in my wardrobe. But green is nice too and so is purple. Even orange. But they say gold is a big color this year. I may have to make quite a few.
I don’t work in a setting where I can wear such lovely things, so I’d be making it for a friend who works as a teacher. She has the flair and style to wear it as it should be worn! I can see it now, in a dusky purple or muted deeper blue, over a 3/4 sleeve button down and one of her “teacher-lady” pencil skirts. She would look fabulous!
I do hope I win!
I love this! I would wear it over short sleeves and jeans until fall, then long sleeves as it gets colder. It’s so sleek and versatile that it would look great with anything!
I have never knitted a tank before but this pattern makes me want to have a go. I would wear it it with pride and I think it would also smarten me up very nicely!
I have a plethora of short sleeve shirts with ruffly collars, they are white so they go under vests, sweaters, cardigans etc wonderfully!
I’d probably pair it with a classic white button down shirt and trousers or jeans.
I think it would look great with a crisp white blouse and jeans.
This is just what I need for the autumn/winter in our rather chilly kindergarten room. Hmm! It would keep me just cosy…
I’d wear it as a vest with a snug scoop neck long sleeve t-shirt underneath. Maybe a lighter grey shirt with a darker grey vest.
I would am an avid knitter who makes garments for everyone but myself. I really love Angostura and would wear it often. Living in Wiarton, Ontario, even the summers are cool in the evening…this would be the perfect item to pair up with a white shirt and pants any time of the year.
I’ve been wanting to knit a vest so I can bring out the button-down shirts I haven’t been wearing!
thanks for this giveaway!
I have a few fair trade skirts Angostura would look great worn together with a long-sleeved top underneath. I’m thinking a deep red…
I’d definitely wear this over some sort of button-down and jeans!
How fun! I love the color of the sample and would wear this fall over a teal silk blouse with a grey tweed skirt, tights, and boots. Makes me long even more for our heat wave to end!
ohmygoodness! I would wear this vest soo often! perfect for fall!!! i would most definitely wear it every way i could think of ;) over a long sleeved dress shirt, over a t-shirt… by itself… (don’t worry, i’d wear bottom’s too) ;) what a fantastic giveaway!!! thanks for the opportunity!
Tunic + jeggings + motorcycle boots. :)
For work, I would wear Angostura over a crisp white button down shirt w/ short, 3/4 or long sleeves depending on the weather. Casual wear would be over a short or long sleeved tee untucked w/ a bit of the bottom or the tee showing under the vest. Both a fitted suit jacket or denim jacket would look great w/ eithe rlook.
**crossing my fingers**
Great vest! I’d make it in a fun color to wear over a long-sleeve tee with jeans.
Angostura is my favourite in Little Red in the City book. I love vests and this would be perfect for my style. I’d wear it over a shirt with either jeans or a skirt for work during winter. It could easily become my every-week-outfit.
Love it! I’ve been wanting to make a vest for sometime and that one is gorgeous! I’d probably wear a lot like the model and in that color. Very nice!
I’d wear it with a T shirt, a pair of skinny jeans and wooden ankle boots . Wonderful!!!
I’d wear with a wide skirt and bright colored pantyhose.
I would wear mine with a pencil skirt and button up shirt :)
I would pair Angostura with a blouse and either jeans or a classic pencil skirt. Love the design!
Would love to make this vest, it looks so versatile and fits many different body types. I have been eyeing the new Chesapeake color called caramel. This color and the vest would go great with black jeans and a white shirt for a nice evening out attire.
Oh my my my my my!!!! Vests are a magnet for me – not toooo hot, not too cold, but just right :) So versatile – I would wear it over tees, – long or short (but NOT a turtleneck :(, or over a cotton shirt with the bottom untucked, with jeans, or capris, or ……? as I said, so versatile :) Hmmm, as to colour? – maybe, teal/peacock, or blackberry/raisin or….? do I have to decide now? :)
Love the pattern — I think in red with a white button down shirt …. a great addition to any wardrobe and what fun it would be to knit.
I’m about to buy a fedora, so I’d wear it with my new fedora, jeans (rolled up), clogs, and a t shirt. This knit (along with everything else in Little Red) is definitely on my “to knit” list!
I would love to wear this with a beautiful crisp white shirt and darling plaid skirt. It would make me feel like a school girl again!
I will wear it as a vest, over a collared shirt and under my jean jacket.
Angostura will spiff up my routine of short & long-sleeved tee shirts with jeans! Not to mention keep me warm in our overly air conditioned office. Just the thing for Seattle’s fall weather, I’d probably make it in that yummy purple to clash beautifully with my RED raincoat!
I love Angostura. I think like all my sweater vests I would wear it with a tshirt.
I’ve been on the look out for a vest pattern for a while so I’m planning to make a few versions of this. I think the first will have to be black or grey as I can justify wearing it for work, I’ll pair it with I white chiffon blouse printed in black butterfly’s that I’m sewing which has big bell sleeves and is so see through it needs something on top to be work suitable. Then I can add a black shirt and colourful tights. I’m moving back to Scotland in a few weeks so I imagine I’ll be wearing it a lot this winter as I try and readjust to the cold.
Minnesota is chilly to freezing 8 out of 12 months of the year, so I would wear that pretty little vest with EVERYTHING!!!
This would be perfect to pair with a crisp white French-cuff shirt to go under a suit coat while I look for work! Great inspiration, thanks!
What a lovely vest! I’d wear it with denim, to jazz up my jeans.
I’d wear it with jeans and my shiny red flats.
I would love to make this adorable tank! Would probably style it a number of different ways, maybe wear it by itself with a skirt in the summer, but primarily I love it for a business casual outfit with a button up. I would probably like to make it in a neutral, so it could work with my various tops in tones like deep green and burgandy.
I would likely wear this more casual-prep. With a pair of dark jeans, a v-neck tee and one of my (many) pairs of boots. And my left-right earrings! (I found them on etsy in aquabeet’s store, and everyone who stares at them long enough to figure out that they have words on them is envious. Best etsy purchase EVER). I would probably throw my brown corduroy blazer over the whole thing. If I don’t win his I will apparently have to make it now as I am getting emotionally attached to this hypothetical outfit!
I would pair the Angostura (that I would make in red) with a classic white button up with a peter pan collar and a black pencil skirt. I’d also wear it with silk stockings with a seam up the back and a pair of baby doll wing tip pumps. I’d wear my hair in victory rolls and wear my black frame librarian glasses.
I’d wear it similar to the modeled pics….3/4 length sleeves, then long sleeves as the weather got cooler. Love layering pieces like the Angostura. Our winter days can fluctuate by 40 degrees F from morning to afternoon, so a piece like that would be perfect. Off to add it to the queue ;)
I love this vest. I spend the winter wearing long sleeve t’s with vests or sweaters over them for both modesty and coverage (48″ bust and protruding tummy), so this looks just lovely for fall and winter wear like that.
I would wear it over a fitted white 3/4 length sleeve cotton shirt, with a pair of jeans rolled up. I would wear it especially to my knitting class : )
This would be so cute with a pair of wool trousers, a la Kate Hepburn. I’d layer the vest over a cute little silk shirt with slightly puffed short sleeves, and top it off with an artfully tied scarf. Thanks! Hannah
I love wearing vests over long sleeve button down shirts to add a little warmth and style :) I would love to win this yarn and book, as I would love to learn how to make items that fit me better. Having a much larger bust than waist make it very hard to find patterns that flatter my figure unless they are meant to be super strechy.
I’d wear it over a long sleeved shirt, with trousers to work or with jeans the rest of the time. It’s that perfect blend of dressy-yet-casual that I love!
Oh I would love it in grey or red w a pair of jeans and flip flops.. I so have to look at this pattern. Ive been looking for a new project.
Thanks
Oh, I love this — perfect with bare arms or over a little tee in Spring/Fall and over a long sleeve tee in the winter, maybe even under a little sportjacket for work.
My favorite blouse, a black/white/purple striped affair, is a little tight through the bosom. I will knit this up in a charcoal (like pictured) or dark purple and wear it over that shirt with black pants. I’ll look like I actually know what I’m doing.
Too bad about the baby not being included because that is one adorable child.
That vest would look lovely in the winter with a long skirt, thick tights and chunky heeled shoes. Then I’d clip clop off to class with my books held tightly to my chest. A perfect vest for a new grad student – me!
I would wear it more casually over a t-shirt and wahtever trousers I happen to be wearing that day. I often need some extra warmth and this looks very adaptable. Also, if I wore shirts regularly this would definitely feature in that outfit.
Very pretty pattern. I think I would make it a bit longer and use it as a tank top. I’m not much of a vest person, but I think it would make a nice top on its own. :)
I love this vest. With a bright top underneath and a pair of jeans what a great and comfortble way to head to town with this kids without being too bulky.
This would be a great looking vest to be made up in one or more of my college colors (the awesome blue and orange of UVA) and worn to UVA sporting events! Wahoowa!
It is such a lovely vest. It would look great with one of my a-line skirts and a white shirt for work and equally great for weekends with jeans and a long sleeve shirt.
Thank you so much for your book and this opportunity to win one. Classic Elite patterns are so dependable and appealing that their glowing endorsement of your book makes me excited to see it.
I would make my Angostura vest out of Scuba blue chesapeake. I love to wear vests and this one has a classic look that will wear well over time.
In a gorgeous grass green color, over a white button up, my favorite pencil skirt & a rocking pair of heels.
I’d wear it over a turtleneck in the cooler months with a slimming black skirt. May even dig out my boots, too!
I would make it in the color in the picture because that it a perfect color for me. I would wear it to work with slacks and a blazer.
I would wear it over a short sleeve button-down, with an a-line skirt. I think it would be the perfect amount of nice-yet-casual that would fit in with my office!
I love this give-away. I would wear this with a crisp white shirt and great jeans. What a great vest! Loving the cable detail!!!
I don’t really like vests(bad memories of childhood)…but I think Angostura could convert me. Would wear it simply because I lack confidence to carry it off… so it would be a white shirt, black skirt combo for work..with Angostura in red because I’ve never met a red I don’t like
Oo- I would wear my new garment at my new job! After a year of unemployment, my wardrobe needs an update!
I would wear it to work and our knitting group would all want to knit one too!
I love, love, love this vest. I can’t wait to knit it. I would knit it in a dark blue and wear it with dressier jeans, either over a button up or even a 3/4 length sleeved tee.
I’m a recent vest convert, and this one has been on my radar since Amanda showed it to me at TNNA. I’m a red girl, so I think I’d like it in deep blood red or in eggplant (aubergine?). I’m learning now that I’m a vest convert, I need a really nice button-down shirt for the bottom layer…I’m thinking a nice, crisp white shirt like Amanda’s would be just right.
And I think I might try to move the twisty cables at the waist to a higher position, more like a pseudo empire waist, since my true waist isn’t what I want to emphasize. Maybe.
I would make a gray one — with a yellow flower in my hair. And a swirly, twirly skirt. And a polka-dot top. And these shoes: http://tiny.cc/p98gx !
I received your book and want to knit everything.
Not sure which item will come first.
If I knit the vest, it will be in my alma mater colors!
Go Bears!
Love the detail! I would wear it with a white long sleeve tee shirt, skinny blue jeans and a pair of boots. Top it off with a gorgeous CEY knit shawl.
I would love to wear this all fall, winter, and spring with a variety of shirts, skirts, and slacks. I think it would go with pretty much anything in my closet.
This is one my faves from Little Red. I’d do it up in a heathery lilac and wear it with a crisp white collared shirt and charcoal trousers to work or with jeans for casual wear. Love love love!!
I am heading back to Uni this September as mature aged creative arts student. I want to have a uni wardrobe which reflects my age but also my subject area. So think creative arts student who is going for the comfortable preppy look – I am a busy mom and I dont want to dress like my teenager.
Layers is the key I think for me. For the library or Lecture I think tailored shirt and the standard navy trousers slacks, quirky socks in red mary janes with red accessories. Or If I have to do a teaching gig to pay for new materials the same but swapping out slacks, socks and shoes for a gored or pleated skirt, panty hoses,my orthotic heels and a suit cut jacket.
It would be just too good of an item to come anywhere near the workshop sessions. No way would I get clay on this.
This would be a great layering piece for most seasons in NYC. I’ll wear it over a button down shirt (like above) in the office with a pair of slacks or with a plain white t-shirt and a pair of jeans through the weekend. How lovely would that be?!
I love this vest!!! Texture is my knitting muse these days, so this would be hard to turn down. Blues aren’t great on me, so I’d go with a yellow or a fuscia – something bright and cheery – to wear over a t-shirt or tank top. I’d go fitted at the bust, but give myself a bit more breathing room at the waist and hips. Love this!
probably over a white shirt to work! :) beautiful vest.
I don’t have any vests and I think I need one! This one is so cute and I love the details, and that there is so much info to make sure it fits me. I’d be another gal in boots, black jeans and a white shirt. My vest would be forest green.
Crisp white shirt, long necklace, tweedy pants or jeans…I love fall outfits!
Short or 3-quarter sleeve t-shirt over either chinos or dress slacks, depending upon theoccasion and the weather. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I love vests over a blouse or turtleneck. The details on this one are great!
I’d love to wear Angostura in a completely OUTRAGEOUS and unexpected color…lime green…shocking pink…bright eye-stabbing orange. The classic line with the crazy color – perfect!
dressed down over a long sleeved v-neck t-shirt. because that’s my style!
congratulations on your publication. i’ve seen the book in person and it’s so gorgeous.
Whimsy + Classical: over a brightly colored ruffled edged shirt (small ruffles) with an A-Line classic black skirt.
With 50′s style dresses (complete with excellent lapels), excellent sweater tights, and some Fluevogs!
Such a lovely design. I immediately envisioned wearing a crisp, white, button down blouse under Angostura knit in the same color as Amanda is wearing, with a black pencil skirt, funky black/gray patterned tights and my black knee high wedge boots. I really love this design.
I love that Amanda is my size so I can see how the knit would look on a bigger size. It’s a great idea Ysolde. Even the designers who are themselves a size 14+ aren’t brave enough to break the convention of using skinny models. Why give a pattern 4 or 5 sizes yet always opt for showing the smallest size?
Anyway, I digress. I would wear my Angostura over a shirt and long denim skirt.
J x
I LOVE this pattern. I’d wear it with long sleeved t-shirts and a silk scarf at the neck—-sometimes with jeans and sometimes with a long paisley skirt.
I’d wear it with a long sleeved t-shirt and my favorite capri pants. I love the pattern and think it would look wonderful in a heathered green color!
Oh yes, how I would wear it. For sure with a nice bell sleeve shirt I have and a grey skirt that swirls very gently.
I would wear it with a long sleeve button down shirt and the a bright pink A line skirt.
I’m a teacher and vests like Angostura are a great addition to any teacher’s wardrobe. I would wear it over a fitted short sleeve button down with a black pencil skirt and a small scarf.
I would love to win this yarn. One of my favorites items to knit are vests. Great for fall!!
Wow! It would look great for work… over a shirt with a pencil skirt. But also really cool dressed down with some skinny jeans. Fantastic!
I’ll use my Angostura with great honor!
Definitely for winter wear over long sleeve thermal tops!
I’ll wear my Angostura over a blouse with a great pair of dress pants or a cute pencil skirt while teaching…or I could wear it with a pair of jeans and a blouse on the weekends.
Jeans and a tee or simple shirt to dress them up and because a vest so beautiful doesn’t need competition from a fancy piece of clothing
I would wear my Angostura over a dress and some cool leather boots, or over a blouse and some jeans once it’s autumn and I can pull it off :D
I will wear my Angostura vest over a floppy polyester button-up blouse with a hugely over-sized collar and hopefully some crazy, colorful pattern. I’d pair these with a pair of jeans or tennis-skirt, both of which I recently picked up at a second-hand clothing shop. I’d accessorize with a headband in a color similar to that of my new vest. Maybe I’d even throw on some of my plastic rings in a variety of colors. Lastly, I’d wear my trusted Doc Martin’s in bubble-gum pink.
Just bought the book and I TOTALLY LOVE IT.
I love to wear vests, especially now that I work in my church’s office as a secretary. We can wear pretty much anything we want, which means I wear handknits all the time. Thanks to lots of A/C during the summer and coldness in the winter, I can wear wooly things all year round. Especially vests, since I can wear a short sleeve or a long sleeve shirt underneath one.
GORGEOUS! I’d wear it with a button-down blouse and jeans or a skirt.
I would wear it over a light-colored button up shirt, a skirt and knee-high socks (knit of course!).
I already have yarn picked out (a deep gold) for my Angostura, which I plan to wear as a vest, over a long-sleeved shirt of some kind. I’ll keep it pretty casual.
Hmmm, I would wear the vest over a short or long sleeved tee paired up with some jeans (jeans are my uniform). And if I subbed with a summery yarn, bet I could wear the vest as a tank top over some matching shorts
I love this giveaway, the book seems amazing! I’d wear the Angostura vest with a 3/4 sleeve shirt and a skirt.
Since I don’t wear vests. I’d add a touch more ease and some sleeves and make it a sweater. That way it’d go with most anything.
I would wear it over dresses of all sorts, I love wearing vests over dresses for a bit of added warmth or for a splash of colour!
This is a great giveaway. I love the colour. I would wear with Jeans and crisp white shirt.
My Angostura will be a green that approximates a spruce (sort of blue-ish but basically green) and it shall be worn over a gold turtleneck with black pants and a pair of black pumps for a terribly classic and classy look!
Awesome pattern. I have the perfect skirt to wear it with – over top of a long-sleeve or 3/4 sleeve shirt and a fab necklace. Everyone in my office will be jealous :)
I would make it in something bright and cheery and wear it with a white shirt and black or grey pants for work.
How lovely..would knit this for my daughter in a beautiful burnt orange colour. She’d wear it at Uni – very prepy. Ps – gorgeous baby!!
Being a teacher I tend to lean toward the preppy look and would make this in a neutral color to wear with a oxford shirt underneath!
I would love to learn to accomodate my pregnant, soon to be growing belly!
First I want to say the stitching on this is beautiful! You really did a fabulous job. I would make one of these for my soon to be 15 year old she turns 15 on the 15th of this month and is totally into sweaters and would love it in a bright color. I would also make one for me to wear in a beautiful burnt orange or a gold (something fall colored) with a skirt and some boots in the fall or with jeans and some boots for a concert or the fair. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win!
Oooh, how lovely! I’d wear mine with an airy skirt and clunky boots. What a fashionista I am! :)
Great design and a fab competition! I’d wear mine with my embroidered tweed skirt and a fawn coloured blouse. I can at least *pretend* to be grown up!
Such a fabulous top: A vest in the winter, an office-appropriate cool tank in the summer, perfect with jeans or a skirt and tights.
And, perhaps what is especially appealing is that it wouldn’t be boring to knit!
I would wear it as soon as the weather cools off!
I can really see me wearing this in fall with a light long sleeve blouse under it! Love the detail!
Angostura is a beautifully detailed, feminine vest. I would knit one in a deep navy blue.
I will wear it and that’s all! But I’ll have to knit it first…
lovely piece! sounds like so many of us are planning on adding it to our wardrobe as a layering piece! I work in a hospital and am FREEZING cold all the time- I think that an Angostura would be a snuggly warm vest! It would look professional and put together with pretty much anything- skirt, slacks, blouse or t-shirt!
As I am about to start a kinda “serious” new job, I think this piece of garment would be a nice addition to my wardrobe. It look very neat with a shirt!
I love this pattern, and I think it’s the one I’ll attempt first from the book.
I would definitely make it in green or red, and wear it with a black jersey 3/4 sleeve button down shirt and a black pencil skirt, with black tights and ankle boots, perfect for Autumn.
I’d consider it a perfect work outfit, but one that could transition to drinks really easily too.
Oh yes please! I’d love to knit Angostura. I’d wear mine with a tailored shirt, dark dress-jeans and red heels (not high heels, just nice little dressy heels that you can still easily walk in)
So cute! I’d love to make an Angostura to wear with nice shirts to work.
I would wear this vest, knitted in blue over a crisp, white cotton, long-sleeved shirt with khaki pants. That may become my go-to outfit, or uniform.
I want to make one in a bright colour to combat my very beige office!
I love this vest! I think I would knit in A fall color. I would pair it with a skirt, buttoned shirt, and some flats for the office or for date night!
I would knit this in a neutral color and use it as a piece that can work with any of my clothes, jeans, pants, skirts, dresses. it would be a great piece to travel with and accessorize it differently each time with jewelry, scaves, etc.
I love corduroys and vests…I think I’d make Angostura in at least ONE neutral color so I could change it up but then I think I’d like to make it in a deep purple, or maybe my go-to color pumpkin orange or a christmas red, emerald green, I don’t know, there are just so many possibilities and being a school teacher in a cold classroom I wear vests most of the school year, I absolutely LOVE Ysolda Teague and would love to own her book, please, please, PLEASE pick me!
Thank you, such a wonderful giveaway Classic Elite
My favourite work blouse is a deep pink silk with a neck tie, and my favourite pants are these super-high-waisted charcoal wool wide-legged forties-style numbers. I’d wear angostura with those. In the office. Chic.
What a lovely vest. I have never won anything and this would be a first. I am a proud great grandmother, who knits for grandkids, kids ,assorted kin, and immediate friends. It would be nice to make something for myself and indulge in the beauty of the yarn and the pattern. Good luck to me.
This vest is so beautiful and unlike any other I have seen. I would pick a color that goes with everything, so whenever I need a pick-me-up I can surely wear it with something in my closet. Periwinkle? Teal? Can’t wait to make it!
How lovely! I’d probably make this up in a classic red to wear to the office with a white button-down and gray flannel skirt for winter … or with black and gray … or mustard and white … or white and blue … or olive and cream. I keep knitting red/warm sweaters but they go with everything!
I would knit it in a nice neutral – I have a business casual dress code at work and something like this would be a great layering piece!
Are there even a 508 different ways to style this vest? Yes, it is versatile – but we humans only have so many choices regarding the coverage of our skin, right? Anyway – this is my favourite pattern from Little Red and I would choose a bright colour to match my shoes and to colour-up my wardrobe.
I would wear this vest to the office and look professional, but would only need to slip on a pair of jeans once home and still look/feel comfortable.
It would dress up an outfit when worn over a plain shirt and look extra cute over a patterned shirt.
This vest is on the top of my list as I love wearing vests. I want to knit the vest in grey or dark blue & wear it over a t-shirt & with jeans (my daily outfit).
That is one adorable baby.
I’d layer Angostura over a crisp button-down shirt, worn over skinny jeans or leggings. And I’d have a drink in my hand, made with–guess what–Angostura!
With a grey jersey skirt, or my stand by uniform of jeans and a button up :)
I would probably wear it with a tailored buttoned shirt and a pencil skirt. And maybe with a cute skinny belt. But I bet it would work just as well over a more casual outfit with jeans.
I would love to wear this with a long-sleeved white blouse. Perfect and just the right amount of warmth for a Georgia winter.
I’ve already made Skelf and would love to add this to my wardrobe. Thanks for such versatile and fun to wear patterns!
Lovely pattern! The waist detail at the back is just beautiful. I’d pair mine with jeans and an untucked button down.
I have the book, and I’m dying to make Angostura. I would wear it over a button-down shirt to work.
Are you sure that the baby is not included in this giveaway :)
Adorable!
This is so versatile I would wear it with almost anything. Probably most often a button down and jeans. Love it!
I’d love to knit more than one Angostura. It would work perfectly over a business shirt for work. And also I’d love to knit one in a really fun colour for a more casual look.
I really don’t like wearing full length sleeves, even during winter. So I tend to wear a woolen vest and short sleeved shirt to keep me warm. The other day I picked up a really pretty work skirt from the op-shop and I plan to shorten it, put some red tulle under it to give it some body, that with a cream shirt and grey vest would look divine :) (Oh and I’m currently knitting traveling woman in natural cream alpaca 4 ply – that would finsh the whole thing off beautifully) !
I would love to wear this great vest over a button down shirt with a cute skirt and boots. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
I would make it in a muted color and wear it over a black or white long sleeve collared dress shirt and straight leg jeans!
I was so inspired by this book and read it as soon as it came. I’ve been so hesitant to knit clothing because I’m quite busty but this book and this pattern can be adjusted to fit my fuller figure. I so appreciate seeing the patterns pictured on two different women. This vest is flattering and simply detailed to give pizazz to any outfit be it jeans or a skirt. The possibilities are endless! I love a good mustard color. It goes with everything, like gray, navy, brown, etc. I think that’s what I would do to show off the pretty detail.
I’d knit this up in Bronte Blue with a little negative ease for wearing over a blouse at the office or more casually over a long/short-sleeved t-shirt. Maybe make a tank-top version for warmer weather, too!
I’d love to knit this vest. You had me at the lovely cables on the shoulder! :)
This would be the perfect all season wear garment! A cool cotton summer top, a little something to go over a short collared shirt in fall and spring, and perfect for log sleeved collared shirts in the winter with a little silk scarf tied around the neck! Perfect for jeans or full skirts ( two of my fav bottoms!)
I always thought I would not like a vest as a big girl, but seeing that model totally looking fabulous, now I really want one! I have a lot of plain long sleeve t’s and I think it would look great with those.
I think that it would look great with a suit for work.
This vest is one of my favorites from the book. I would like to have one to wear over long or 3/4 length sleeve shirts. Thank you for the give-away!
I’d wear it with a shirt to work. Though I don’t know if I’d go for a colour or stick with the same grey as pictured.
I would love to win this! I would wear it to school- As a teacher it would be a great addition to my wardrobe?!
I’d love to make this vest in either Mandarin Orange or Tokyo Rose. I have quite a few pieces in my wardrobe that would look fantastic with an Angostura over them, including a couple dresses, and a shirt/skirt set. It is such a versatile piece & I know I’d wear it often at the knitting & needlepoint shop where I work in New Orleans!
what a cute pattern! I haven’t spent as much attention on your new book as I should have. I’m off to go take a better look……
in meyer lemon with my denim paperbag skirt and a navy & white striped top underneath. so many possibilities!
luv your glasses, btw.
I’d wear it with a long sleeve T and choose a really sparkly necklace to show the vest off. I’d probably wear it with a skirt and my knee high boots! I could rock that vest!
Angostura is the first pattern I want to knit from your new book. Thanks for the chance to win the yarn! I would wear it just as Amanda is wearing the vest… with a crisp white shirt.
OMG! I LOVE the Angostura vest. I’d make one in a warm rose tone and wear it over EVERYTHING! Angostura looks like it’d look as good over white t-shirt as it does over a ruffle-cuff button-down shirt!
irene (prymnumber on Ravelry)
I’ve decided to knit every sweater in Little Red in the City! I’ve already Knit a Cria and I’m almost finished with the Lauriel. I would love to win this yarn and knit the Angostura vest next. I would wear it over a basic dress or with a cute skirt. I work in a yarn store so I would probably wear it all winter long at the shop. A vest would be a perfect layering piece for the not-so-warm but still indoor temps.
I would wear it over a long white tunic blouse and black skinny jeans. Tunic, vest & skinny jeans, a great combo.
This top looks like it would be great for me to wear as a layering piece at work. You never know what the temperature is going to be in the library where I work and sweater vests are great for that. I would wear it layered over a boat-neck 3/4 length tee shirt since that is my usual work top.
I would probably go for a nice bright color because most of my work shits are neutrals and it’s nice to have a little more color.
Well for summer in San Francisco, I’d wear it over a long sleeved thermal then wrap around a euro scarf…brrr…
This vest would look great dressed up or down. Nice layering piece.
I’ll wear it with a 3/4 sleeve shirt or a shirt just like it in the pictures.
I would definitely wear that to work, with a three-quarter or elbow length top underneath. With some capris. Yes. I think that would do quite nicely!
I love the detail at the lower back. So flattering!
I would probably wear it over a plain long-sleeved t-shirt … with one of the a-line skirts that I can’t seem to stop making myself these days. And I’ll be the most glamourous mum on the school run in it!
I would wear it with a shirt and jeans…But it also would look nice with some cap sleeves.
I think Angostura would be the perfect way to dress up my regular “uniform” of jeans and a t-shirt – it always makes me happy to be wearing something I’ve knitted!
I would knit mine in a deep yellow and wear it with a pale pink, long sleeved shirt. The sleeves would be float and loose at the wrist. I would wear a knee length deep brown skirt and yellow shoes. Yes!
How wonderful! I received your book yesterday and have not even read half of it as yet but I really like how you plan out how to customise to suit anyone’s body shape in the first section. This pattern is one of my favourites from the book and I can imagine wearing a long sleeved white shirt and jeans with it for a casual look!
I would love to wear it with skirts and cute blouses! Thanks for a great giveaway!
Wow – great giveaway! I would wear it over a t-shirt and with a skirt to work!
Or in colder weather perhaps a long sleeved T- and jeans?
I would wear it with dark, straight leg jeans, patent leather flats, and a tailored shirt. I’d probably wear my awesome glasses to complete the ensemble. Holy cow, the details on that thing are (not surprisingly) gorgeous!
Just wear it over a long sleeve tee to keep the chill away on fall days. Beautiful design!
I would wear it over a shirt JUST like that (it’s so very cute) and with a full, pleated knee-length skirt. What a wonderful giveaway. Thank you!
Very awesome contest.
I absolutely love it as shown, but I’d probably pair it with jeans.
Over a tee or a button up just like your lovely model.
i would choose a light colored yarn and wear it over a grey tee and comfy jeans! the perfect outfit, in my opinion :)
I’m really loving red at the moment so I think I would knit this in Tokyo Rose and wear it over a white long-sleeved shirt with my jeans.
Oh, what a great yarn and pattern! I’d knit it in color, because I love color next to my face, and wear it over a black puff-sleeved blouse. I think the puff sleeves in the modeled photo really set off the fitted vest!
I’d knit it in a color and wear it with jeans or black pants over a white shirt or tee. Dull styling, but it’s so terrific, I’d want it to stand out.
I would love making this vest in a maroon or forest green. I would wear it with a collared buttoned blouse, black skirt, tights, and my red satchel bag. …. It would be a nice change from my boring work uniform…
I’d try adding sleeves and wearing it with a skirt and dark tights.
I think it would look great over my dog-collar/minister’s shirt with black trousers and purple boots!
Ohh…with a skirt & shawl!!!
I’d wear it with jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt or white shirt. It would look great at work.
How cool…. :)
I would make it gray or blue and wear it with a skirt (as i always wear) and some long sleeved t-shirt or a blouse beneath it. Maybe a knitted shawl would perfect the outfit…yes…that sounds god to me.. it would look great.
I like wearing my vests with tshirt + jeans, shawl
I would wear it with a button down blouse and skirt.
melodyj(at)gmail(dot)com
I need a great layering piece for my hikes around The City this fall. This vest is perfect, whether it’s over shorts and a tee or jeans and long sleeve shirt. It’s also dressy enough to go over slacks for a dinner out.
I’d wear mine over a long shirt with leggings and add my Ishbel. Perfect for Sunday morning carboot sales and antique markets.
I still haven’t got a copy of the book, so it would be great to win :)
Lovely vest! I would wear it as a sleeveless top with a pair of walking shorts or a skirt and top it with a a blazer or cardigan when it gets chilly.
What a lovely pattern! I’d wear one to keep me warm in these classic English summers :) It would look lovely over t-shirts and work shirts: I could wear it every day!
Oh I love this pattern, and have been looking for exiting yarn for this. I would wear it with enything from my wardrobe, that would look nice of course. Have a nice day.
I’d wear it over a long sleeved teeshirt with a long skirt, brightly coloured tights and mary janes.
With my favourite yellow skirt!!
Oh, what a great giveaway!
I’d probably knit this in red and wear it together with a shirt with my favourite pair of jeans :)
I’d wear mine with a shirt and mini kilt (bringing back the 90s) so everyone knows where i’m from when i’m canada! x
In fact, I think I may well end up making two; one ‘regular’ length for wearing with long-sleeved tshirts and a skirt, and another one where I would lengthen it by about 6 inches. I will wear it with a smart tailored shirt, and cords. I will make it a bit longer than the pattern calls for because I work as a teacher, and spend a lot of my time crawling round on my knees, so I wear lots of tank tops/sleeveless tunics for avoiding accidental knicker flashage when wearing trousers!! :D
Hi I would wear it with a crisp white a-line skirt that I have.
Mmmm library chic!
I would probably make one in emerald green and would wear it with blue or black jeans, a white or pink shirt , and high boots or tenis shoes.
But I would love to make one in your surprise colour ;-)
What a generous giveaway.
I’d wear mine over a shirt/blouse for a more professional look. But also over a tee for the more casual/lazy days. Hmm, the more I think about it I think I’d probably end up making two. One in a more subdued colour, and another in a bright and vibrant colour.
I’d wear it with just about anything in my closet – and with a great big smile!
What a very nice contest!
I’ll wear my Angostura over a dress with a little flowerpattern, my 19th century boots/shoes and I’ll hopefully have my copie of Little Red in the City under my arms. (wich I miss right now because it is still in my VW T2, which broke down on my way to the UK and couldn’t take it with me in the much-to-small- replacement car. OH, I do hope so that no one toke out of my VW bus…..!)
How would I wear it? How wouldn’t I wear it??!
This is my no1 must make item from Little Red. It will be in a nice dusky pink or chocolate brown (or one in each!)
I will wear it:
for work, with a shirt and smart trousers
for dress down Friday, with jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt, and some killer heels
for uber smart, under a suit jacket with a plain shirt under it
for weekends, on its own with some jeans and trainers
for holidays, as a layering piece, possibly over a sundress (how cute would that look!) with sandals and my cowboy hat!
for when it’s really cold, under a nice warm cardigan with thick woollen trousers and my chunky fur lined Earth Boots.
Vests work so well with skirts and slacks and jeans. I’d wear mine with trouser-style jeans or my jean skirt. Underneath, a tissue weight tee or short sleeve blouse, or really just about anything.
I think I would wear my Angostura over a japanese dress that I will make to match it.
Or maybe with a white shirt and a skirt in a contrasting color.
Oh I would wear this everyday to work, over t shirts, button downs in the wonderful fall weather after this incredibly hot summer! It looks like a versatile piece you could dress up or down! Love Ysolda’s patterns and style!
I would make it for my mom to wear- she loves layers, and needs them… (She would also like that baby for a minute or 2)
Thanks for your never ending inspiration Ysolda!
Oh this would be so cute for Spring over a long sleeve top. It would definitely be the perfect thing to work on once the bump produces the baby in 7 weeks time!! With all the work baby will involve I’d probably only have the vest finished for Spring!!
Vests are perfect for my air-conditioned office at any time of year, and I love the details at lower back and shoulders on this one. This is a ‘must knit’ whether or not I win!
I would wear it over a gray dress that I have. Also with jeans and a button up shirt. A beautiful pattern.
I plan on wearing it like a boss with my lab coat, because the lab gets cold and this would be so nice to wear underneath.
I’d love to win the yarn … and I’d wear that vest all the time!
The vest is gorgeous and would be the perfect fall accessory! I would wear it with long sleeve t-shirts and jeans or a skirt. Love, love, love!
What a wonderful vest. I would wear it over a longsleeve shirt or a button down shirt. I’ll wear it at the Chattanooga Market and brag about :D
Best regards, Katja
I love this. I would wear this with a simple black skirt with a crisp white shirt or over a shirt dress. The possibilities are endless. This is absolutely beautiful.
Love this top, one of my favourites in Little Red….. I think I’d knit it in grey, and wear over a striped long sleeve t-shirt, jeans and my Fly boots. Perfect for autumn in Cornwall!
I would wear it over a bright shirt with 3/4 inch sleeves, and with jeans. (My usual style :D)
i love the look of it with that snappy white shirt – would style it just like that!
I would love to do this top. Maybe in a color that would compliment the solstice skirt I am making in the Calais. I would love this book as well. I browsed through it at a knitting shop and love the sizing options.
I absolutely love the color of the vest in this post! I would make it in the same color because I could dress it down (jeans) or up with black dress pants or a skirt. It would be fabulous with a white button down shirt, but amazing with a vibrant print shirt too!
The greatest thing about Angostura is that you do not need to plan how you will wear it. You can wear it all year long with dresess, skirts, pants, shirts, T-shirts, shawls, necklace, belt… You will always find a new way to use it. That is why I really want to knit it as soon as possible, the only question is : what color ? I think I will choose caramel as it sounds yummy and works with summer sun, autumn leaves and pumpkins, christmas cookies and stars, and spring blooms ! I bet it will look awesome on a all black outfit with a long sleeves shirt and pants or skirt.
Mine would be a dark colour – probably a slate grey, to wear over a checked top with a maroon corduroy skirt underneath. Or just with jeans! Perfect with a white shirt as well.
I hope that Isolda will design a nice gown to wear with Angostura :)
In the meantime I’ll wear it with a pair of jeans.
I would wear it to work with a cute skirt and some boots.
I love this vest. i would wear it with jeans and a buttoned shirt with little puffy sleeves, some funky boots, a big bag and lots of bangles. Now all I have to do is knit it. And buy the shirt. And the bag. And the boots……
This would be perfect for layering with a blouse and jacket for an Alaskan winter. Love your patterns.
Loving this on top of a colored t-shirt, with a scarf, tight denims and my favorite all-stars. Almost can’t wait, this is going to be fun! I could even wear it to work with a blouse underneath it :)
I work from home, so I don’t have to dress up much, but this would be perfect to make me look a little more professional when I go out for presentations.
I lost a bunch of weight (a good thing) and so am often cold on even the warmest days (therefore, always a small jacket or sweater is necessary). I would keep it pretty simple (but perhaps throw in some pattern) and red is my favorite color.
I love the detailing of this vest, it is very versitle. I would dress it down with nice jeans and boots, or dress it up with a tailored shirt and skirt. Any way you wear it it is going to look great! Thanks Ysolda and Classic Elite Yarns.
I would wear it over a white shirt and with a suit in the winter. A little added warmth is always good in the snowy Northeast U.S.!
On casual days, with a pair of slacks or a skirt over a button down.
I live in Arizona and everyone assumes it’s always hot, but I live at 6,000 feet in Prescott in the mountains. We have cold and we have snow in the winter. I would wear this wonderful vest to keep toasty warm on our cold days. Donna Meyer
I’ll wear it over long shorts while running errands around town on my bicycle this autumn
Beautiful sweater vest– I love it, and I will probably wear mine (when I knit it) in a classic way: pants, button-down shirt, vest. One of my favorite outfits for teaching, when I’m not wearing sweaters with elbow patches!
Proudly & with a smile of course!
I’m loving this vest for fall, with a button-up underneath and a pencil skirt for work. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would make this one for my daughter. She says she’d want it in either red or blue. And she would wear it with skinny jeans, a long sleeve t-shirt and some boots.
I´m planning to knit this and wear it everywhere!! :))
With a long sleeved shirt, black pants and my new heels. Yay!
I think I would wear it with a t-shirt and jeans. I’m home with the kids all day and it’d be nice to have something special to wear that’s casual enough for the kids, but still classy enough to feel like I’m dressing up a bit.
Pencil skirt, blouse with a twee collar and poufed sleeves, and high heeled oxfords.
I would probably make one in a mustard color and wear it over a navy blue 3/4 length sleeve shirt paired with a wide-swinging skirt, also navy blue. I’d have mustard coloured tights to go with that and a cute pair of brown 1″ heeled brogues.
Angostura, what a very interesting desgin.
Would wear with jeans, what else, eh?
I’d wear it with my blue jeans, over a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to my elbows. I think it would be great – casual yet classy. Cowboy boots would set the outfit for day, and heels for night. I’m thinking a burgandy, dark grey or emerald green would be stunning!
OH!!! I SO need a new project! The Angostura is beautiful and absolutely something I would reach for again and again!! I’d wear it over t’s for back to school and over long-sleeved t’s for fall & into winter!! This single mom certainly needs some yarny goodness!!
I would like to knit it in a light color, that way you can really see the stitches. I would wear it with jeans and t-shirt.
Here in LA, I can wear it sleeveless in summer, and over a nice crisp shirt (i’m thinking striped) in our mild winters. It would be great in cranberry red….
I’ll make this for my sister, who will wear it to work over a short-sleeved t-shirt or blouse. It’s a good layer without being too warm, since she’s moving around all day. However I make it, I’ll definitely be using combination knitting. I learned it from you book, and love it.
Being a jeans and t-shirt sort of gal, I love vests! They make my jeans and t-shirt look not quite so jeans and t-shirt-y. :) This vest is especially gorgeous! Thanks, Ysolda! (For your awesome creative fashion genius and for the giveaway.)
Wow would I love to knit this vest and to have book signed oh my. I would wear it this fall out with my grand-kid playing in the leafs, and going to get apple’s.
I’d love to make this in a dark charcoal gray and wear it with a white collared shirt and a red lacy scarf.
Great book! Great patterns! Being of ample proportions this vest is the perfect compliment to a pantsuit for business and pleasure.
How absolutely chic you will look wearing this versatile vest.
I’m excited to wear this and show off my fashion sense!!
I love this vest! I am currently a (dyed) red head taking the plunge to be silver, yikes…so my color palette is going to change soon. I visualize this vest in a smokey blue. I also look forward to reading your book.
This top is so pretty I can picture myself wearing 1000 different ways!
As a tank top with a pair of dark skinny jeans and some cute ballet flats for a drink out this end of summer; as a vest with a long sleeve T. shirt, a pair of washed boot cut jeans and so pretty sneakers for work (I’m a scientist at the university, so we dress pretty casual…); or on top of a white shirt with a nice knee high skirt and some awesome boots for a more special occasion. That’s fun to think about all the possible combinations!
Jeans and Tee. That’s for meee. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.
With a cute little handknit scarf or course.
Thanks for the contest.
I’d wear mine casually, with my cute pintuck blouse I made underneath. It would go so lovely! Thank you for this fun contest!
Neutral color with a brightly printed buttondown shirt underneath. Something to keep me warm in my icebox of an office.
I have become a big fan of skirts and vests to wear to work. This vest is lovely and would work dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. If I made one, I’d probably have to lengthen it a bit as I’m long waisted.
This calls for a very crisp white shirt untucked and a great pair of skinny black jeans with boots. I love this pattern and the rest and this book would be a great asset to my library.
it looks like it would be wonderful lots of ways! comfy, too, which is a big plus in my book!
I’ve drooled over this pattern for some time (I have a huge shopping cart on Ravelry), and find this to be a very versatile garment. Loads of potential for wearing opporunities from work to weekend to just having another layer to stay warm with. Great look, great yarn.
Angostura with jeans and a 3/4 sleeve tee, definitely. Or maybe with a crisp white button down. Then again, it would look quite preppy with a cute skirt. I probably wouldn’t have thought of wearing it over a dress, but Ysolde makes it look wicked cute that way. Perhaps all of the above :-)
Living in Florida, heavy sweaters are out; so I would wear the Angostura vest with my short jeans, no-sock clogs, and a lightweight gauzy shirt. Of course, I’d add earrings to match that wonderfully bright color.
I’d wear it over a long sleeve tee shirt to help keep warm during the San Francisco “summer”.
Love your patterns! This would be a vest for me, over another tank, a short or long sleeved shirt or a 3/4 sleeve T-shirt. Such a flexible garment as well as so interesting, with it’s small of the back detail.
Wow! What a great giveaway! I would have to say that I would wear my vest with just about everything! It’s a great style that works with all kinds of shirts and dresses and jeans and skirts. Picking just one colour to make it from .. now that would be the challenge!
I would love this for office wear. I work in an office that’s cool year round and we are very casual here. I often need an extra layer, but it seems nuts to be wearing cardigans in the summer.
Because I work in a veritable ice cave, I’ve come to really appreciate vests for their easy extra warmth. Angostura would be smashing over a blouse, turtleneck, long-sleeved tee — almost anything!
Thanks for the offer! I am definitely a crisp-white-shirt kind of gal wearing my vests. My current favorite is a wide collar with the edges showing and 3/4 length sleeves.
Firstly, congrats on this new book, I can’t wait to dig in!
This vest is great, the vertical lines and thoughtful medallion placement are a huge plus. I would stick to charcoal-esque colors and would wear it quite similarly, with a crisp white button-up… but I would go for 3/4 length sleeves. A winner, for certain!
Thanks ^_^
At last!! A vest that will look as good in the office as it will with my jeans in a size that will look good on me.
Gotta have one of these in Bronte blue or Tokyo Rose to liven up a white shirt and blue jeans!
So cute. I am dreaming of cooler weather so I would wear it with a denim pencil skirt, white blouse and a pair of knee boots. So cute!! Love it and your patterns :).
Oooh, too bad that baby isn’t included! I would love to make one in a deep charcoal or black and wear with a turtleneck and jeans when the weather takes on a chill. pair it with a cute tam in a matching color and it will be very fashionable as well as slimming!
Ooooh! First, I’d knit my Angostura in the Catawba Grape colorway.
I’d wear it with a chartreuse button-down very-tailored blouse. Dressed down with jeans or dressed up with a slim skirt. And a little crocheted choker in the same grape yarn to tie it together!
I would wear this as a vest over a white cotton shirt. Then I think it would show off a longer necklace very nicely!
I would wear Amanda’s Angostura over a poet sleeved blouse…no, I think over a tutleneck…no, I think a tailored pink shirt… no… which ever one, I am thinking a scarf with the cable pattern should go with it!
What I love about this is I can dress it up with a skirt or go grubby with jeans. A wardrobe staple
Vests are like pockets…essential. This particular vest would be great with lots of long skirts and pants. I could even layer it over some of my old vintage dresses. Well, they seem vintage to me because I’ve had them forever. A lovely design, especially that special crossover near the bottom of the back.
I enjoyed your interview with Alana D of Never Not Knitting last month about your new book.
Ooo, Ooo, Pick me, Pick me!!
I would love to knit this vest! I also need the book because I have lost about 25 lbs and am not sure how to knit for my new slimmer bod.
Thanks.
An Angostura to call my own would be knit shorter with a slightly deeper v-neck.
I see it over a skin tight long sleeved tee and with baggy, pockety pants.
also over tight jeans with a cropped jacket * a scarf.
I love this vest! I think I would wear it with a white short-sleeve T-shirt when the summer finally cools off a little or over a long-sleeve blouse and a pair of jeans or slacks. Thanks for the great pattern!
Love the cabling and vertical lines. This would go with so much already in my wardrobe. Maybe I’ll make it in a navy blue or red – perfect with jeans or a denim skirt.
Gee I like it on it’s own but would probably style it with a white T underneath or maybe a simple blouse when the weather is chillier. Such a versatile design!
I would wear it like your model – with RED hair too! Love this for a casual look for work or play. Definitely with jeans. And I need the vertical ribbing to make me look taller than my pee wee body is. Thanks for your wonderful knits!!
Please pick me!
… that being said, I will own your book one way or another, cause it looks FAB-U-LOUS. I always have trouble getting sweaters to fit the way I *want* them to in my head, so I’m looking forward to absorbing your tips.
I have always loved vests, and for many years sewed several in beautiful fabrics to wear with blouses, skirts and pants. Vests work wonderfully for me in the winter. They provide the extra layer of warmth when I’m outside, but are not too heavy when I’m in my slightly over-heated office. Now that I’ve picked up knitting again after so many years, I would love to make this pattern.
I’m going to make it in scuba blue and wear it over a crisp white shirt and either black pants or dark jeans. The patterns in this book are so gorgeous and the sizing info really needed in this skinny girl world.
I absolutely LOVE how the cables play up the shaping! Vests make me HAPPY!! They are the PERFECT way to add a pop of color to a work outfit or just a bit of pizazz to the tshirt and jeans crowd. Plus they provide warmth to the core without bulk under the arms. I’d wear it over a button down and nice pair of wide leg trousers for the office, and then pair it with jeans and a simple tank for trips to the farmer’s market. Oh the possibilities!
This vest is beautiful. I think that it would be a great three-season item, worn over a tee shirt or turtleneck, depending on the weather.
Jeans, tee shirt, and Birkenstocks are my everyday, and I mean every day, clothes. This vest would be a perfect addition. I’m thinking dark rust, teal, or a red- purple would be great. I’m a bit short waisted and it looks like an easy pattern to adapt.
This is a beautiful vest. I can see making it in a nice neutral gray and then pairing with everything from a button down for work to a long sleeve t-shirt to go to the mall. I love the detail at the small of the back and on the shoulder.
Fitting tips from the book, fantastic yarn to work with-I’d wear it with pride!
My favorite jeans, handknit (of course) socks and lace up boots with a 3/4 sleeve scoop neck tee, a nice necklace (maybe my turquoise quail one with matching earrings) and I’m set to roll.
Only one would never do! I live in the northwest so cool in the summer and misty in winter. I am 68 so need my torso always warm but arms and hands free for gardening and knitting, and looking good for a quick trip to Seattle by throwing on coat.
I guess I would just rise in the am, put on a clean shirt and don my many choices of colors of my vest and the day begins!!!!
Luv the lines and simplicity with just enought stitch interest.
This is lovely! I think that it would be delicious knit up in pink, and worn with a white puffed sleeved blouse. I am not usually a vest person, but this one is so much more feminine than vests usually are. I love it!
I love the fact that this patter can fit and flatter larger ladies. I would so much love to knit this for myself especially since vests are a favorite wardrobe piece for me. I just finished an Ishbel shawl and look forward to knitting another pattern by Ysolda!
I would wear this with a long sleeve shirt and jeans so I could turn down the heat this winter. I would love, love, love the book!.
I would wear this vest just as soon as the first cool front comes in (predicted high today 107 in TX),with a button down shirt and jeans! Thanks for the great giveaway!!
I love the grey version with the pop of red from her bag! I would probably knit one in an olive green or a dark red, and wear it with everything from a long-sleeve T and jeans, to a buttoned blouse and slacks. It’s a lovely pattern!
Such a versatile piece will go with jeans or a skirt. A perfect addition to any wardrobe like the little black dress.
Layers! Let’s talk layers…it’s chilly in the morning, warm in the afternoon and the AC in the office is on full blast.
It would be perfect over a t-shirt and under a demure jacket or cardi.
Popped over the top of a long sleeved shirt in the office that they keep below freezing year round! Hoping to win- Love the book!
I love the idea of layering. Living in Denver, Colorado, one must always be prepared. I’ve seen snow in July and snowless Christmases.
As an ample women I love the idea of a pattern that is not made exclusively for twigs. I also love the fact that it isn’t just some oversized boxy vest. Even we larger women have curves we want to show off. I can’t wait to get started. Thanks for some really great stylish looking garments.
Oh, My, this is soooo pretty!! This is an opportunity for me to actually make something for myself for a change. Since I live in Colorado, I think I’d make the sleeveless top in a muted colour, and add one of my patterned turtlenecks underneath. I’d need extra time because I’ve never made something for my ample frame!!!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to possibly win this contest.
Who would not enjoy wearing such a versitile vest! You can’t go wrong knitting it up in several colors.
With the book at my side, and using a dark elegant shade of Chesapeake yarn, I would craft Angostura to perfectly fit my larger bust-smaller waist petite shape. She would then become the chameleon of my wardrobe. Of course she can dress down with jeans or go business with slacks and a crisp button-down. But…Can’t you just see her topping a black chiffon skirt, killer heels, and sipping a martini? I can!
I love vests and cables, so this is a natural for me to wear with my jeans!
Thanks :)
I’d wear this lovely vest to work in the winter when my office is too too cold (brrr, hard to imagine right now). I especially would love to study the book on fit because I am short-waisted and have avoided vests with shaping. This one has the nifty back detail and I’d like to place it where it is right for me!
This book sounds exciting. I would really like to understand how to make adjustments for the larger bust.
I love this pattern and would wear my Angostura three ways. Because we have cool weather year round, I’d knit it in wool and in summer I’d wear it alone with my dark denim and white denim short skirts with platform flip flops.
In the winter I’d wear it over a long sleeve light wool shirt. I’d also use it that way for biking, running or cycling in cooler weather because wool wicks moisture so nicely while keeping me warm.
I would wear the vest with a simple long sleeve t-shirt and jeans or a jeans skirt.
With the updated details at the back, shoulders and V-neck, I would want to wear my Angostura EVERY day. Seriously. It would be great with a jean skirt, over a dressy dress, under a blazer or with a tee and capris. Beautiful design.
ooooh… I would LOVE to make an Angostura vest!
I would make it with 5955 Shanghai Red (after Lttle Red)
and wear it with jeans and a smile in the city!
thanks for the chance
karen :o)
I’d wear Angostura with either a cami or a long white tee shirt underneath for an urban casual style. I love the shoulder and back detail!
That’s an original question for a give-away. As much as I love bright colors I think I’d got for a gray or black colorway. I don’t like showing my arms so it’s perfect for putting over a long sleeved blouse or even a long sleeved t-shirt. I’m in North Carolina – even though it gets cold in the winter – a sleeveless vest over a long sleeved tee is about all you need most of the time – especially if you’ve got to put a coat over it. I would just be challenged. I’m a huge lace knitter so this would be an exciting change for me. thanks.
Love the twisted stitches!
I’d wear mine over a tee, with jeans….maybe boring but it’s me!
I would Love to make my angostura in a lime green to celebrate the end of summer! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration!
I’d wear mine with a thin cotton batiste blouse I have in my wardrobe. It would look smashing with it!
I love the pretty little cables on this vest. I’d love to wear it to dress up jeans on casual days at the office.
My office is always cold. I would wear it as a stylish outer layer for warmth!
I love this top – the subtle cabling is perfect, not overdone. I’m looking forward to tips in the book to lengthen garments as I’m tall and most patterns are too short. I’d adjust the vest to be longer and maybe make the neck a little deeper.
I would wear a striped long-armed shirt beneath it and probably a skirt.
Depending on the color, I would wear it one of two ways. Cool tone, say purple: wear it over a long sleeve dress shirt, maybe with a stripe, with gray slacks or a black pencil skirt. Warm tone, probably a yellowy-green: Over a cream-colored t-shirt with one of my orange sari-silk skirts.
I would wear this all by itself as a summer tank. And wouldn’t it be great to have a matching cardi twin set. I’m at that “magical” age where my internal thermostat is currently unreliable!
What a beautiful addition this will be to my work wardrobe!
Simply, but with flair.
I live in Minnesota so I would wear my Angostura over a turtleneck to keep warm. We turn the thermostat down to 60 to save money, and good knits are necessities.
I would wear it on a chilly day in NY State fall weather, just to stay cozy.
My style is very simple – I’d wear it layered over a thin, long sleeve white tee shirt with jeans.
I’d wear it with EVERYTHING!!! I love these little tank/vests to wear over tee, blouses, maybe even by themselves. Its a great way to dress up, or pull together an outfit. If you’re bold, its a great way to add a splash of unexpected color. So excited about this giveaway!!!
how i’d style it:
i’d have the model wear a huge knit hat, bulky cotton, hair inside and out.
the tank worn alone, nothing underneath, tiny shorts or man’s boxers thrown on, ballerina flats.
the setting would be a table outside a countryside house, breakfast time, table set on a teck table people already waiting, model looking as if straight out from bed, gorgeous.
as for the colors: natural ones and the tank looking like a “marcel”.
I really like the detail placement in this pattern. With the added instructions and tips in the book, a custom fit is exciting as I am hard to fit. I would wear mine as both a tank and a vest, casual as well as dressed up.
Detail on your back is FAB
I love this pattern. A deep red would be great for me. I would wear the Angostura in layers for fall and winter months. It would be great when walking with my dogs. A universal piece!
First off, thanks so much for including sizes up to 60 inches. So nice to have the option to knit to my size, not have to fiddle and figure out how to enlarge. That said, I’d knit the vest in a vibrant teal, and wear it over a sea green blouse with billowy sleeves. And I’d just love to win the book and the yarn (I’m unemployed at the moment!). Sally
I guess I would just wear it over a t-shirt once it got quite a bit cooler around here. Maybe it could work out instead of a jacket. Keep the great patterns coming.
That is some fine vest and I am sure I would wear mine with just about everything I plan to wear is fall. I like the super casual look of a x-large man’s white v-neck tea and straight leg jeans.
How beautiful! I love blue shades and brown, although might consider a purple too! I wear mostly skirts, so paired with a skirt of course!
This would be great with my usual jeans ,tee shirt, and hand-knit socks.
It would be nice to have a pattern that fits and was designed for the fuller figure. I would just love to wear it anyway/where/or how…. for it will be the first thing I’ve knitted for myself that will FIT without me making pattern alterations on my own. And the cornflower crayon was always my favorite crayon!
I’d wear it to work to stay warm and cozy! Thanks!
I would love to pick a color to stretch my color pallette – maybe the Meyer Lemon – and wear it with jeans and a long sleeve T when working from home or with a skirt and a white blouse for meetings with ‘real people’.
As a retiree, I tend to wear a lot of sweats during the winter. However, I am now teaching knit and crochet at my LYS and the Angostura vest over a long sleeve tee, with dark pants, hand-made socks and clogs would be a wonderful outfit to wear to my classes and then out to dinner with my DH.
I’d wear it with a white shirt and jeans–perfect casual Friday outfit for the office!
I would wear it with a buttoned down shirt and a pencil skirt. I’d have to rent a baby though.
I would make it in a deep rich purple and wear it over a blouse or t-shirt when the weather is cooler and as an extra toasty later under jackets when the weather gets really cold. The flattering styling and the colour would cheer me up on drab days and make me feel like a million dollars too!
Wow, it’s beautiful ! And what’s great is that it can go with any style ! :-)
From very feminine style to a more casual one.
Beautiful vest pattern with great detailing! I’d wear it casually with a tee with denim or khaki, or more dressed up with a blouse and skirt.
Oh, what a lovely little cable pattern! I love vests, but it’s hard to find nice ones made out of natural fibres nowadays. Well, nice ones that don’t cost 100$+… I’d probably wear it just as shown – as a vest over a cute little button-up shirt with either jeans or a skirt, depending on the weather. Maybe even in the same colour…hmmm, or perhaps the dark green or brown.
Wow what an awesome idea! I would love to make this vest, and your book is on my list to purchase. Your patterns are so beautiful! I would make this vest in a deep red, and wear it in the winter over a long sleeved shirt and with a black skirt to the office.
My birthday is August 15th, I am hoping it is my lucky win day. I would like to make this for my Mom.
I would wear this with a long sleeved tee for cold days in the office. Because I work at a computer, I like vests that don’t interfere with my work.
I have been looking forward to your book. I am hoping to learn how to make my knitting fit me better. Angostura is a lovely vest I see myself wearing over long sleeve Ts and shirts in the spring, fall and winter. Thank you.
Vests rock! Or is it roll? They are a wardrobe essential here in the Wasatch front where the temps can vary 25 degrees from a.m to afternoon, all autumn long–the perfect layer.
I would knit mine in autumnal orange and wear it hiking around town or in the foothills.
This is a beautiful pattern!
I simply don’t know how I would wear my Angostura. I probably wouldn’t know until after I knit it. I would let it speak to me and tell me how it wants to be worn!
I’d wear it to work over a shirt or turtleneck with jeans or cords. I love vests and wear them all winter long. The color? Probably something subdued.
I love the neck edging on this vest. I would have to dress it down with a short or long-sleeved t-shirt underneath. The vest of course, would be knit in Chesapeake Rosetti Purple. I think the slight variegation would add a lot of interest to such a lovely piece.
Hmm- I would wear mine with a long sleeved tshirt-v neck-with a couple of dangly chain necklaces that I love to wear. The bottom would be either my shorter denim skirt- the one with the sewn down pleats in the front and the bit of a flip on the hem. Finish up with my opaque leotards and my best cowboy boots (the ones with the metal toe caps,, of course) Way cool vest. Love it!!!!!
I would wear this vest all the time. Dress it up for school or wear on the weekends with jeans. I like that the pattern comes in larger sizes, plus the directions to make it fit YOU.
Love the crossover detailing at the back and shoulders! Would love to make mine in metro green or shanghi red color and wear with long or 3/4 length sleeved tee and jeans.
I’d wear this everywhere and just love it. The pattern is beautiful.
I adore this pattern! I’ve been searching for a ‘vest’ / pullover pattern for quite awhile. I love the cabling at the shoulders and the waist, such simplicity…
I work 2 jobs (gotta fund my stash addiction) and can wear this at my part-time job at the library where yarn enthusiasts gather!! And the pattern/yarn can be properly admired!!
I hope I would wear the vest in good health! I would love a chance to win your new book – however I plan to buy it whether I win or not – I think this looks great and it’s nice that you included info for larger gals – I am considered a size “womans petite” for my short height so I always have to make adjustments on patterns. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win.
Melody
Love the way the strips/cables cross. I think I need to make this in both Oxford (to wear over bright colors) and Tokyo Rose to add a touch of class by covering a favorite T with less than office worthy images. ;-)
Living in New England, one never knows what the weather will be, especially during the colder months. I dress in layers and the Angostura Vest will certainly be one of the layers. Usually over a heavy cotton 3/4 sleeve T. I love wool skirts and heavy tights for the cold months; I find them warmer than jeans. I am over 50 and love the elegance, simplicity and shaping of a piece like the Angostura vest.
I would wear it with elan, panache and flair with a variety of skirt, jeans, and trousers options.
I would wear it with a white buttondown shirt, dark blue jeans and black boots. I would also add a pearl necklace and pearl stud earrings.
I’d make this vest in the blue color shown as blue is my favorite color. I’d wear it layered with another sweater over it during the cold winter months we get here in Connecticut. In warmer weather I’d show it off over a white shirt as in the photo. I love the vertical lines which I think are slimming.
I am going to be be super original and creative here by choosing the same color yarn and outfit. I actually really like the color on the model as well as her crisp white shirt and khaki pants.
It’s a lovely pattern! I would wear it to dress up my momma wardrobe of jeans and a t-shirt. It would also add just a touch of warmth in autumn evenings!
This is wondeful
I would wear it with a colourful floral print shirt and skinny jeans.
All season I have been looking for the perfect vest to layer over a turtleneck and under my barn coat. The problem with being a farmer is that sleeves on sweaters just grab everything, but vests are perfect.
This vest with it’s scoop neck is perfect. Also, my size 36 days have been gone for years. I love that you made these patterns in real woman’s sizes!
I would definitely wear it in the early fall over a nice t shirt and in the winter over a long sleeved t shirt. Do you see a pattern here? I l love the look of this vest. Thanks for the opportunity to win the book.
I have a perfectly plain long sleeved, mock turtle neck dress that is too boring to be worn on its own but makes a great canvas for showing of handknitted items. I’m thinking I’d make it a little on the long side and belt it over the dress. I absolutely love the little travelling stitch cables.
Gosh, the possibilities for this addition to my knits is exciting! I see myself wearing my Angostura with new grey flannel walking shorts, striped charcoal tights and my new burgundy/black Angel Vogs. This vest is flattering and an instant classic.
I love vests, I love Ysolda…need we say more!!!
It is a beautiful, and classic design and would work well from casual to office friendly – over a shirt and under a jacket or alone without the jacket. Since I wear black most of the time would love it in a brighter color to add some oomph. Thank you for the give away. The book looks fabulous.
Lovely! I would definitely wear your Angostura vest!
I do love vests-they leave my arms free for enthusiastic knitting! For my version, it will be a beautiful blue-red first, then something neutral to go with browns. I’ll make sure I have the lovely detail just around the waist in front too.
I’d wear my vest over a ruffle-edged turtleneck with jeans and boots and a lacy wool stole to throw over my shoulders. Maine in the fall demands layering as the weather can flucuate wildly.
This would be a perfect addition to my early fall teaching wardrobe! I think would look equally good with slacks abd straight or A-line skirts.
It’s a beauitiful pattern . I would make the vest in black to wear with a white blouse and black slacks. And teal or gray to wear with jeans. Fine looking vest.
I’ve been looking for a great vest to wear over my v-neck tees this fall – this looks perfect!
A fitted vest worn over a shirt with a skirt or fitted pants ABSOLUTELY must be worn with boots!
I LOVE the tiny details on this quite tailored vest. It would be great to wear over my favorite jeans in the winter as well as long denim skirts in the summer. I haven’t seen all the colors that CE’s Chesapeake comes in… but using a subdued yummy color such as the featured blue would leave room for many different combos. Would be a great addition to my wardrobe!!!
Long sleeved t with jeans; knit in a bright colour!
I’ll wear it to bed – midwest winters can be brutal, so a pretty “core” warmer will be quite welcome
This vest is pretty versatile, especially if/when made in Chesapeake. I’d wear it as a tank in the Summer, over a tee in the Fall & Spring and with a blouse or turtleneck in the Winter. I can definitely see this worn with both skirts ( a short one, worn with boots…yum!) or jeans/pants. This vest is definitely a “must make.”
I think I would like to knit this in a grey or chestnut tweed. For me, it would be a bit more towards that classic menswear look – crisp white shirt, pinstripe pants with a cuff and a herringbone jacket to top it off. But since I also love to layer knits, I may top off my Angostura with Cria in a deep burgundy red!
I will wear it on my trip to Poland this fall with a ruffled collar blouse, corduroy skirt and wedge boots!
I don’t like wearing formal shirts and since early childhood prefer knits so I would wear it close to the skin and accessorize it with several of my skirts, work trousers or jeans. The colour in the picture is beautiful and suits my complexion but I like strong colours too so either same or a colour from a darker palette from brown, through, plum, purple into fuchsias.
Just as it is, on what passes for a summer’s day here in Glasgow, with a denim skirt and sandals (and probably lightly dusted with puppy fur…)
Oh, I would love to have Angostura in a rich vibrant color to wear with skinny jeans and. It’s so versatile that it actually it would look great over a button down blouse, or tee shirt or by itself with a lacy cami underneath!
Love this design! I will make one in orange to wear with a crisp, white shirt and indigo jeans.
I would wear mine with my favorite super-soft long sleeved shirt underneath. How cozy!
In that wonderful grey color, I would wear it in the fall over some patterned button up shirts. As a busty gal, it is nice to be able to have a sweater over the shirt so you can’t see through the gaps between the poorly placed buttons. I would also wear a nice wool skirt, some hand knit socks that go with the shirt and my black fluevog mini gorgeous.
I like browns, rusts, golds, fall colors. I am starting a diet and my goal is significant, so I am hoping to accentuate my newly acquired waist with the ribs and the design. I would wear it with a plaid shirt or a crisp white one, with long sleeves. That would mean I would need to go out for lunch, preferably with a good friend. (This is starting to sound like a novel.)
How cool. Living in Tucson, AZ, I haven’t much need for sweaters with sleeves, but vests can get a workout in the winter when it’s just cool enough that you want to keep your core a bit warmer.
Knitting my own sweaters also allows me to make them fit my particular shape (curvy with a very long waist). For me, this would be perfect in a not-so-neutral neutral like sage green or a nice dusty purple, worn with a button-down shirt, turtleneck, or T (depending on the weather) and a pair of jeans or khakis.
I will knit it in red and wear it with a white button down shirt, navy blue jacket and jeans. The perfect outfit for fall.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to win the kit!
I really love all of your patterns – it’s pretty rare to find a designer who I am recommending as much as you to my friends.
Plus it’s pretty much sweater vest (if not full on sweater) weather here in Seattle 9-10 months out of the year.
I’d knit it in red and wear it in December. I love the shoulder detailing!
Wow, a year long garmet for me! In the desert southwest, heavy long sleeved sweaters don’t get much use, but this lovely would be awesome for layering. Or in a lovely cotton/linen blend for a summer tank. And thanks so much for remembering us “curvacious” women. When I see size 38 as a large, I shudder, and don’t really re-check that designer much. This might be with jeans, skirt, or even over a simple dress. I love the extra little styling. Simple, yet stylish. Just my cup of tea. Lynn
I would make this vest for my sister who had a lung transplant last Dec. and is still in hospital due to other problems. She feels the dampness of coastal British Columbia and this vest would help keep her warm. I have made her lap blankets and I’m working on a cardigan for her. I have arthritis in my hands and knitting helps keep my fingers moving.
I love the blue color and would love to knit this because I don’t own any vests yet. I would wear it over yoga clothes. Well, I wear everything over yoga clothes. Add a fuzzy scarf and I am ready for fall.
What a great piece to add another layer of warmth! Stylish – one I would wear often . I’d make it up out of something soft and wear it with my boots and skirts.
This vest would look great over a long sleeve tee with a jean skirt and a bright colored skinny belt. Thx for the chance to win :-)
I’d wear it over long-sleeved t’s because I’m cold everywhere I go! Love the pattern and the lovely grownup shade in the photos. I’m also a book lover so I hope I win a copy of Little Red in the City!
I love that this book helps you fit the garment to you or whomever you are making it for. After the expense of yarn and the time it takes to make, you want to make sure the garment will fit appropriately. Thanks for writing such a helpful knitting book!
I would love to make Angostura for little ‘ol me, mostly because I am NOT little and have trouble finding patterns that result in a true fit. I have a collection of bright jewel tone tops that would all look great under a red, green or black vest. Pick me, oh random number generator!!
I would wear it over one of my lightweight t-shirts. I would love to have a vest that fits and is flattering.
This is such a beautiful, versatile vest!
I would wear it with pants and a 3/4 sleeve t-shirt in a neutral, so it wouldn’t compete with the details.
What a great piece – I’d knit it up in a neutral shade (grey or a warm tan) and wear it over a t-shirt with a maxi skirt!
Love, love, love your designs! What a wonderful pattern — and great give-away. Thank you! I moved to Texas last year and have had to set aside all my heavy tweed yarns and bulky cardi patterns. This snazzy vest would be perfect for the mild Texas winters and the funky Austin vibe.
I would wear this with jeans and show off what I do with my spare time. Have to wait until some cooler weather comes into Oklahoma before this could be worn.
How lovely! I would love to make this vest. In the winter I wear jeans and I would make this in a blue shade and buy a nice, white cotton blouse, just the thing to dress up my wardrobe!
I would wear it with wicked pride! And hopefully with some style……What a fun contest. :)
I would wear it here. I would wear it there. I would wear it everywhere. I simply love vests and this would be a great addition to my collection. Joyce
What a lovely vest! I would wear it with jeans, white button down shirt, and a tweedy wool jacket. It seems like a perfect Fall layering piece.
Love the vest. Love the tendril green colour. Nice crisp white shirt, green vest, black skinny pants, hand dyed socks and black mary janes. Styling…
I would keep it handy at work where the A/C is too cold in the summer and the nearby elevator whooshes cold air in the winter !
I would probably wear this as a traditional vest, but I live in the South and would probably use it as a shell too. Making my own clothing is the only way to get a proper fit. I am short and fluffy. Most of my clothing is black and white so this vest would be a great opportunity to bring a pop of color (and hopefully more than a few compliments).
Cute pattern and it looks very nice in this yarn. I’m in!
With confidence–on my 5-foot, curvy, 65-year-old frame. Chic, put together, and comfortable.
Forgot to say how I would style it…it looks great as is so I don’t think I would make any changes. Around here it would probably need a long sleeved tee under it.
Super cute! I haven’t bought this Ysolda book yet, but I have the others :) So, I need to win this one!
I think I would wear my Angostura on top of a polo with a skirt and matching kneesocks and shoes. Everything must have matching kneesocks in my wardrobe. Thanks for the contest!
Working as a secretary at Oklahoma City University I would love to wear the vest here at school as it has enough of a look for the business world but still a very fun look as a large, older person, for mingling with the students (aka; my babies). We have a whole lot of fun in my department and have been sent to the basement of the chapel since we were too loud to be up by the sanctuary. I love the fact that the book is also available for my e-reader so I can have it with me always, and has been made to hold more than one set of measurements. It looks fun and crazy and would fit me to a T.
Keep up the good writing as I would love to see a sequel to this book.
Wow, I think this will become a very often worn & versatile piece in my wardrobe. I will wear it sleeveless now, with a shortsleeved t-shirt or blouse under for Fall and then a longsleeved top for winter, under a blazer or leather jacket, with jeans or dress pants. Not really a dress or skirt kinda gal, although this would work equally well with both. With some fab long chains/jewelry, or course — must have my accessories! Would love to win!
I would wear my vest over a long sleeve shirt in the winter.
As a short lady with big hips and a teacher, this is the PERFECT vest to help with my wardrobe! I especially love the vertical lines. This certainly helps slim the over 40 figure!
I would definitely wear the Angostura vest in the office teamed up with dress slacks and on weekends with jeans.
Wear it over a crisp white shirt, with either a short pleated skirt, or dressed down, with a pair of tight jeans and black boots! We can be as dressy or dressed down as we want here at work, within reason of course.
This is just the thing for me to knit for my 74 years young mother. I can see it in a blue to match her eyes, worn with her white shirt and black slacks.
I love the vest, a simple cowl would look very good with it, to dress it up. I would also wear it with a turtleneck and jeans.
What a great pattern. I love the blue color and so versital. I can see it over a long sleeve button down or in the spring or fall over a short sleeve shirt. With jeans or a pencil skirt. How great would that be!!
I would wear this over long tunic shirts with slacks for work, or with the same shirt and leggings at home. I’m sure it would also wear well with blouses and skirts, or even over tanks and camis. What an exciting pattern and what a great opportunity this is. Whether we win the contest or not – being introduced to the book is also a win!
Ooh! I would wear that paired with a basic white short-sleeved tee, cuffed jeans and some stylin’ footwear like Converse all-stars or Doc Martins for a clean classic look with a tiny bit of edginess (just a tiny bit!) :)
The vertical lines of this vest are so attractive and great for all figure types. The book looks terrific! Hope I win.
Red, of course. No, not because of the title of Ysolda’s book but because I think I have a couple of skeins of Chesapeake in red, leftover from a lovely CE cardigan I knit a couple of years ago. I love the yarn and think it would make a terrific and very useable vest!
I think this vest would look great in a pale blue or gray colorway with some sort of white blouse underneath and some sort of chunky necklace with dark denim jeans and flats. :)
-Anna
I would wear this with a turtleneck under it or a blouse. This would be great for work. Not to heavy but a little extra warmth. I would also wear it with jeans. I am thinking ruby red or grey. I would love to win this kit.
Aah, a beautiful vest! I think it would be a wardrobe staple for me, over shirts and tees and even by itself under a suit jacket. I will HAVE to make it regardless of whether I win it, but winning would be SO nice, LOL.
Beautiful simple vest- love the quiet details!
I would wear mine with my jeans, tag sale scarf, flea market find retro beads and consignment shop boots!
Thanks for your designs…& the give away!
ohh I would love the yarn for this vest/top–as a second grade teacher in a chilly NE classroom–it would be great with my khakis, soft white shirt, and clogs! I would be adventuresome and choose a color a don’t oftne choose to knit–a mulberry, or deep green–ahh i can feel the yarn in my hands now!
I’d wear it with a demin skirt and my red clogs, a lot!
Oh, I love this pattern. I’d wear it as a shell to the office or as a tank top with jeans in the summer — layered over a tee too. So versatile!
I would wear it in a box
I would wear it with a fox
I would wear it eating lox
And, of course, with matching socks
Box, fox, lox, socks
Angostura really rocks!
I have a sheer, buttoned top with a ruffled front, puff sleeves and long ties at the neck. I would wear that, and the denim pencil skirt I’m currently making, and then add a pair of knee-high boots to top it off (probably with some knitted knee-high socks underneath).
I’d love to knit this up in a blue and yes it too would become a staple for me. With jeans, black shoe boots, a crisp white shirtor long sleeve tee…….. Winning would be wonderful, but I know what I’m going to do this fall.
It’s so versatile, I could wear it with anything! Pair of jeans and sneakers over a polo for a casual look, or with a sleek pencil skirt and pair of heels over a 40′s-look blouse and a colorful scarf tied around the neck. Or a pair of motorcycle boots, black jeans, and a fishnet undershirt!
While I love the blue, I think it would look fantastic in a bright autumn orange/red combination. Perfect for wearing on those sunny warm autumn weekends. I can’t wait to make one for myself!
I love your designs. This would look really cute with a sleeveless shell or camey under it…which is how I would wear it in the summer.
I have never had a vest. I think I would knit it in blue or grey and wear it with a long sleeved white blouse. Thanks for the chance.
Beautiful. I would wear with jeans and as often as possible. I wouldn’t even have to rewrite the pattern to fit. Now if I only get lucky!
I would wear my Angostura to work. I work in an old building, the heat is not so much in winter. An Angostura is just the right look and coverage for me.
I like the blue, goes with my wardrobe
I’d wear it over one of my many striped longsleeves (i love stripes) with skinny jeany and sneakers, or over this lovely dress i saw today in town…
How would I wear this vest?
Well, I wouldn’t shower in it, but it looks perfect to wear for a walk in the fall foliage.
And I wouldn’t wear it to clean house, but it would be perfect to wear while for sitting beside the fire with a good book and a green apple or a glass of wine, depending on the time of day.
I wouldn’t wear it while brushing the dog or going to the vet, but it would be perfect to wear on a date night with my husband.
I wouldn’t wear it while getting the garden ready for winter no matter how hard the plants begged, but I work from home and it would be perfect to wear while sitting at the computer.
It would be perfect to wear in a color new to my palate like Scuba Blue or Tendril Green.
I love vests and wear them in autumn, winter & spring – I would wear Angostura with turtlenecks, button down shirts, maybe over a simple knit dress – it’s a great, versatile design!
It is so rare to find a beautiful classic piece designed to fit larger sizes. Angustora is the type of item I would invest the time to knit. It would look great with many things — for me, jeans or slacks and a long sleeve tee. I’m always chilly but don’t always want that extra layer of sleeve.
I love the look of a vest like this over a short sleeved summer dress. I am a teacher, so the vest is a great layering option to make the summer items go further and to wear underneath jackets as the days grow cool.
I would wear mine over a long sleeved t-shirt with jeans. Love the vest!
Do not know if people outside the country can participate, but I will use to find my friends at the meetings the last Saturday of the month.
I love a vest with a tailored white shirt, untucked of course! I love the back detail.
I am thinking this would be just a great top to wear over a white collared shirt as a way to dress nice. I see myself wearing a simple skirt, and this vest in a nice bright color. It never gets crazy cold here, so a vest is really all the sweater I ever need.
I love vests, especially in the winter over turtlenecks. I love the vertical elements in the vest as they would help me appear taller/leaner. I like that. Worn with either black leggings or my softer ‘Travelers’ pants which are also pretty lean…. I’d probably knit the vest somewhat longer to emphasize length…. This would be a fun knit and fit into my wardrobe in a really good way.
I think I would like to make it in a either a muted neutral or a bright red and would wear it over a shirt with pants. I sit right under an air conditioning vent at work and am cold all the time.
Yay! Yellow, yellow, yellow. I’ll wear it with my favorite jeans!
I would love to knit Angustora in Autumn colors. I would wear it over slacks for work with a under a short sleeve shirt with a scarf that picks up the colors of the vest. The pattern is so beautiful that I’d want to show it off!
Love the Angostura. I would wear it to work with a silk shirt and black trousers, on weekends with jeans and a white collared shirt, or maybe with corduroy pants to Stitches East! Wish you all the best with the book.
I work at a college and this would be perfect to wear to work over a nice white shirt! Love it!
What a beautiful vest! I would wear it to work with a fitted, colourful blouse underneath and a pair of slacks. Or, I’d wear it on the weekend with a pattern tee-shirt and skinny jeans!
I would wear it with a t-shirt jeans and cowboys boots in the fall or winter – it is too hot here to wear spring or summer unless it is layered over a sleeveless tank.
Such a lovely design, as always – thanks Ysolda!
I would give it to a dear friend of mine who loves it
I would wear this to work over a white shirt and dress pants, maybe with a knitted/beaded bracelet to bring out the color of the vest. Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway, and congratulations on the book!
I love vests, and I think this look is great–style, color, yarn–and would dress up w/slacks or skirt or down w/jeans. Many thanks for the design and this wonderful book.
Just gorgeous! I would rock the Angostura vest over a blouse with lace bell sleeves, a flared, long skirt & riding boots- kinda of Victorian horsewoman look :) Please pick me to win!!! Pretty please with big, fat, RED cherry on top!
The Angostura Vest will be perfect to wear from fall through spring. It will look great with oxford cloth shirts or turtlenecks and will be a cozy layer under winter coats.
I love the vest and would love to make my hand knits fit me better. I would wear my Angostura to work over a blouse to add just enough cover to take off the chill.
I would love to wear this make and wear this vest! It would be the perfect item to complete my favorite librarian outfits: knee length skirt, cute top long or short sleeve and adorable flats. My favorite specific version right now is a denim pencil skirt, awesome green short sleeve button down and red flats. I think a bright red or pretty purple vest on top would be perfect for fall!
I love this little vest! The details are lovely, and make this vest so wearable. It can be casual or dressy, especially with such nice yarn. I have a lovely little cream blouse I would wear it with with slacks or skirt or a plain shirt or light knit top for cooler days. I love vests, they are the most practical garment here on the west coast, Canada. We have long damp winters and spring. Most often we don’t need a lot of sweaters. Vests are perfect, and great layering pieces.
I would make it for my daughter who has a great sense of style. I think she would love to have this classic piece to wear over her tanks and t-shirts. Then I would make one for me as well.
Dear Ysolda,
Your Angostura isn’t bitter – it’s sweet! I would wear it in Catawba Grape, with pride, joy, and comfort! Pride, because it’s such a lovely, classic design – and purple is one of my daughter’s college colors. Joy, because I enjoy knitting beautiful clothes. Comfort, because Chesapeake has just the right amount of merino to give my Angostura softness and elasticity, and exactly the right amount of cotton to keep it cool and wearable many months of the year “down h’yea” in sunny Georgia!
I live out in the New England countryside and dress casual nearly all the time. I’d select a color that goes well with jeans, a 3/4 sleeve tee and my Ecco slip ons. Probably the bronte blue, shanghai red, or even metro geen.
I’m not one to wear a vest unless it buttons up, so I’d most likely add a button band down the front faced with ribbon on the back to stabilize the button holes. Then I’d head off to my favortie antique button vendor for some antique buttons to finish off the vest. All the lovely detailing on the vest deserves great buttons!
I’m a librarian, and I’m not gonna lie – I like to dress the part, despite not wearing glasses and not having bun-length hair. :-) I’d wear this over a button-up white blouse, with an A-line skirt, tights, and boots or Mary Janes. And fabulous dangly earrings.
I looked through this book at B&N and fell in love. I always adjust patterns (sometimes successfully) to try for a better fit but find that this is an area where I need more education. The pictures in the book and different models wearing the same pieces really got my piqued my creativity.
To me this vest would be great as a summer top with my favorite shorts or a vest in the winter with my jeans. As a stay at home mom, I don’t get dressed up much but having interesting textures, styles and colors for my simple wardrobe makes life more fun. The blues are my comfort zone colors but the red would really show off the detail in the stiches. The stitch pattern has wonderful detail.
I love the color that Amanda is wearing with a light gray skirt. I never thought I could get away with a vest, but this is changing my mind! Would love to win this!!
Here in New Zealand, the land of wool, you’d think we’d be drowning in affordable yarn – but it ain’t so! And anything imported is an astronomical price – at least, on my budget.
So, my Angostura would be a well-treasured wardrobe essential. I love its clever shaping – both functional and decorative – and vests are so useful here in Auckland, where we don’t get harsh winters.
I love to wear vests in the winter. Because I love the pattern, I’d probably like to make it in a color which goes with lots of things, and is light enough to show the pattern well – probably beige or khaki or possibly light grey or blue. I live in a remote and casual place, so would probably wear it most with wool or corduroy slacks over a buttoned shirt or turtle neck.
I would wear the vest with a fitted lace top underneath, white, of course. A calf-length skirt in a neutral color and some ballet flats. I would accessorize with a long necklace, some bold earrings and my large black hobo-style purse. Gotta have a bag big enough to fit the knitting in, you know? :-)
I would wear it….happily!
I’d make my Angostura in a blue that would go with jeans and wear my in London UK this fall!
I would wear this to work over a 3/4 sleeve button down shirt with pants or a skirt. I think it would be a great accent piece, so knit in a bright color like teal, turquoise or an orange shade. I can’t wait to see the whole book!
Living here in the frozen north, a girl can’t have too many sweaters for layering for the different seasons. I would love to win this and knit myself one of these! when you’re a big girl it can be difficult to find patterns that fit and flatter!
I was thinking of wearing it to Rhinebeck. Weather is always a toss up, too hot for the sweater or so cold, an added layer would be welcome. Either way, I’d be stylin’
I would wear mine (it’s already in my ravel-queue too) with a short sleeved blouse, quite like Amanda’s, & my planned-for-sewing 50′s inspired full-ish skirt
I’m speech path and my work wardrobe is filled with khakis and cardigans. I am always looking for ways to mix it up a bit – this lovely sweater vest over a long-sleeved shirt would be just the thing. :)
I love this vest, especially the cable technique at the lower back. I would wear it over a t-shirt for everyday wear or with a buttoned shirt for dressier wear. Thanks for the chance to win!
I am sorry the baby doesn’t come with the bag…it’s very cute! :)
I can’t decide if I’d want my Angostura in a blue or gray or purply shade, but I’d wear with with a long sleeved t-shirt or a turtle neck. Maybe a collared long-sleeved shirt. With jeans and clogs and handknit socks, of course.
I would definitely knit this vest to wear for work. It would be perfect for me in my job as merchandiser. With the book to help, I can design it to fit me perfectly in all my various ‘parts and places’. I would love to win this prize!
I would make this vest for my daughter; she is currently knitting the Vivian sweater (designed by Ysolda) for herself. She teaches Permaculture and Sustainable Farming and often finds herself going from working outside in a garden then going inside to give a talk and slide show. It is much cooler inside and this vest will be the perfect topper for her to slip on. I would love to win this package!
I love to wear vests as they are so versatile, changing the look of a blouse or sweater worn under them. I would probably make it in the same color, Mephisto, and wear w/jeans and a bright blouse or gray slacks and a white blouse or turtleneck. I really like the designs at shoulder and back waist which add a zing to the pattern. I would really like to receive the book as I have only been knitting clothes for a couple of years and mnostly baby clothes as I have difficulty fitting the pattern to myu shape. Feel this book would be most helpful to progress my knitting.
Really love the shaping in this piece! The actual shaping combined with the optical shaping provided by the converging rib lines into cabling is such a wonderful effect. Wondering if you could oversize the Angustura vest pattern just slightly and lengthen it into a short jumper? Would be perfect for fall with a pair of leggings underneath! Can’t wait to dig into chapter 1!
This would be the perfect vest to wear to the office! The two offices I work in are very casual yet not so casual that jeans are welcome attire. this would work very well with all of the blouses in my wardrobe as well as my turtlenecks. Knit out of Classic Elite Soft Linen for Spring and Summer, this vest would add a touch of class to my wardrobe all year round!
I’d knit it in scuba blue and wear it with a button up shirt and my plaid skirt, colored tights and loafers. It would go equally well with a pair of jeans.
I love the layered look of a vest, I would wear this in two ways. one for work with a ruffled button down blouse with 3/4 sleeves, pencil skirt, wide belt and riding boots with opaque tights. The second way would change the pencil skirt for a dark denim skirt, thin turtleneck , with a velvet blazer. Hoop earrings and a chunky necklace with my handmade wire/beaded cuffs and a big ring.Congrats on the book!
Definitely in grey with a skirt, probably my purple velvet sailor one.
What a great layering piece!
Wow!!! This sounds like exactly what I need. My shoulders are uneven and most sweaters and vests don’t fit no matter what I try.
Every teacher needs something to class up the daily outfit of bendable pants and a nice shirt (preferably with pockets). Angostura certainly would class it up. Love the cable detail in the back!
Since it’s been so very HOT here in Texas, I would wear the Angostura alone, paired with my fav jeans. The little cabling is so sweet…who would want to cover that up. Since I make jewelry for a living, I’d whip up a pair of need chain-drop earrings and a simple chain drop necklace, dripping with Swarovski. A simply beautiful pattern and the yarn is perfect! Thanks for such a sweet offering!
I’d wear your Angostura with a long, flowey skirt :)
Many thanks for the giveaway,
Diane
Oh how wonderful that vest is. I just found this blog. Can’t wait to read more. Finally someone who understands how to fit a mature woman. Mine…… would be dark grey, navy, black or white. This way I could wear it all year around. When I put that much time into knitting a garment, I want to wear it every week. Being a full figured woman, I have to wardrobe my clothes and intermix them for every season. This is a beautiful vest. (fingers crossed)
I love the look and design of this vest! I could easily jazz it up with some dark-washed denims, a white lacy blouse, or be casual in a capri–a versatile vest indeed!
The styling makes it perfect for presenting a professional look while teaching. I would make it in a warm brown and wear it with a skirt or slacks.
I love wearing the versatilty of a matching a slinky knit tunic and pant , so your vest in cornflower blue would look wonderful over a navy slinky set with a blue and white print scarf tied around my neck then tucked into my neckline as a faux cowl with some lovely gold and pearl jewelry in kind of a upscale nautical look. I can see it now…..
Recently a friend invited to a twofer dinner as a thank-you. The evening was one of those exceptionally cool summer evenings that occur after a thunder shower on a particularly hot day so I was caught with appropriate to wear. The vest with its textured ribbing and exquisite shoulder and back cabling would have been perfect over a plain tee, a pair of skinny jeans and low-heeled pumps, taking me from ordinary to extraordinary by giving my outfit that extra bit of élan, especially since we were mixing in with the after-work/early dinner crowd.
Oh I would love to win. When my Angostura is knitted I’ll style it with a corduroy skirt and some kickin boots. Thanks for the chance to win.
With a black turtleneck, naturally!
I would probably wear it over a fitted long sleeve top, with jeans (always in jeans!). Or maybe extend the length & wear it as a tank dress in summer.
Oh I’d wear that vest with everything….jeans and a shirt, sleeves casually rolled up to elbows. Or over a t-top, 3/4 sleeves, a skirt, boots and beads. OR over a short sleeved summer dress in the spring. OR over a knit top, under a jacket, trousers and boots. And loving it. Thanks for the offer.
Seriously, I live in Idaho & it can get pretty cold here, so I’d have no problem finding places to wear that beauty!!
I would love to make mine in tokyo rose i have a fab shirt that would look great with it and jeans
Wonderful book with all you could hope for in diagrams, explanations, and understanding of all aspects of sweater creation. And the sweaters fit real people, not just models. Masterful work this is; all knitters should thank you. On behalf of those who forget and myself, thank you so much.
I’d wear it with an Ishbel wrapped around my neck for a bit of peek a boo lace
I’m going to wear mine over a boring long sleeved shirt and a mid-length skirt :] I’m not sure what color I’m making it in yet though…
As for me….off white over a black t shirt ( I love black and white). This is the only publication/pattern of yours that I don’t have. I hope I am lucky!
I’d knit it to a longer length, below hip, in the Bronte Blue shade of Chesapeake.
Would love to have the opportunity to knit this before we leave for Europe on our 36th Wedding Anniversary trip the end of September. Just the right garment for mix & matching with a limited travel wardrobe!
As a gift to my teacher daughter I see her wearing this vest with a nice pair of navy slacks and a white short sleeve shirt. With the right jewelry she can dress it up or down in case she goes out with the girls after work
I would wear it with denim of all styles.
I have seen patterns from this book popping up on Ravelry and keep saying I have to get this one. I love wearing layered looks because temps at work are unpredictable. I love your patterns, have worked them before, and I would love to do one of these vests in blue.
Saw this book recently at one of my LYSs and loved it instantly. This vest was one of my favorites as I’m a fan of vest and would layer it with either a long or short sleeve top depending on the season. Would be great with jeans or casual pants, work or play. Love the blue it is knit in and some of the other colors so would be a tough choice.
Super job on the shape of this vest! This is definitely a “lady” vest, without the square shoulder shape of a man’s vest. I’d wear this with pinstripe trousers and a long sleeve blouse, for a men’s-wear inspired looking outfit, but with a feminine fit!
I love Angostura! It’s the type of pattern that is very versatile. I could see it with jeans, dress pants or even as part of a business suit. I would most likely pair mine with jeans. I love the detailing on the back and at the shoulders!
I think I’d wear it over a white blouse to add some edge to something that otherwise looks a bit school marm-ish on me. And in a shade that will make the textures on the vest really pop!
Or perhaps I’ll make it up to go with one of my steampunk outfits, something that would look good with brass and leather!
White tee and coral vest with jeans
Over a long-sleeved dress and maybe even some matching socks!
I would wear it with jeans or a jean skirt. It just screams comfortable casual to me.
I’d wear my Angostura vest with a collared t-shirt underneath, and a jean jacket and jeans to take my dog for a nice long walk in the Fall.
I would make an Angostura in Coral and wear it with turquoise blue bracelets.
That is a very elegant little vest. I think I would knit mine in red, and wear it over a long-sleeved black T-shirt with the hem of the shirt peeking out below the vest.
I’d wear this with a crisp white long sleeve shirt, a tailored but casual jacket, jeans and clogs or boots.
I’m thinking of knitting it in charcoal grey and pairing it with a hot pink polo t, dark jean capris, and red heels:
What a lovely sweater! I can see wearing this on weekends the most. It would be perfect for going from the barn and taking care of my sheep to town :)
This is a really lovely sweater, and I think the ribbing cross in the center v-neck is such a unique touch. I also like that this appears to come in plus sizes which would fit me to a T. I would wear it with either a button-down shirt or a turtleneck. I think a purple or charcoal would go with anything I wanted to wear under it.
Love this….I would treasure the opportunity to win both the book and yarn to knit my very own Angostura! I would sport this lovely sweater vest everywhere…but most often to school as I teach fourth grade. I learned to knit in fourth grade during recess and I have passed on the skill to many fourth graders during recess and enrichment groups.
What a great giveaway! I’d wear mine with a lightweight 3/4 or long-sleeved tee underneath, and either jeans or an a-line skirt. I always want to knit everything in grey, & this is no exception. :)
Thanks so much for this give-away.
I would wear it over silky blouse with wide leg trousers (could be jeans or dress pants). I think it would look great in almost any colour – it may be nice in a really popping colour that would also look great under Leather jacket when it gets even colder.
I am so getting this book regardless if I win or not. I am so excited about it! Would make the Angostura vest in a muted color like forest green or burnt orange and wear it in the fall with jeans. So pretty. I love all of Ysolda’s designs!
I’d wear it with my favorite jeans and long-sleeved t as my favorite; I’d also dress it up with a cute skirt or pants.
What a gorgeous vest! I would wear this over a T-shirt with jeans. The yarn sounds yummy soft in cotton and merio wool. The details are fantastic. For an ample figure (as I have) it looks very figure flattering.
I would be thrilled to knit this.
I’d make it in the caramel colorway, which goes with almost everything, and wear it with my different pant suits at work. I would also wear it with jeans at the weekend.
I’d wear mine over a long-sleeve t-shirt that’s tunic length with my favorite orange corduroy pants and brown boots. Maybe my bright turquoise & green beads necklace too. What a fun giveaway!
I love vests and think this would be a great project to learn new techniques to custom fit a sweater. The styling makes this vest great for layering over and under. I’m excited to see a copy of Little Red in the City. It’s so much more than a pattern book.
I ‘m not sure how I would wear this vest but wear it I would. I think I would try it with every top or T in my closet , jeans, pants, and skirts. It is my favorite pattern in the book. The color I would choose would be either a dark teal or a true purple. Congrats, Ysolda, the book is great!!!
Wow what a great giveaway!! I would definitely knit this ‘oversized’ and wear it over a multitude of shirts…shirt tails showing!
I usually don’t wear vests because I am 2X! But seeing Little Red gives me courage. I’d probably make it in a solid turquoise, purple or blue to coordinate with most of my ankle length skirts I am known for wearing. I am an advanced-beginner knitter. So far I have not made a sweater to fit me properly. But I love to knit, so I keep on trying.
During hot Chicago summers, some buildings tend to be a bit (or a lot) colder than necessary. That makes a vest a garment for every season in this city. Angostura would be the perfect way to stylishly keep warm during summer (!). I imagine it over a t-shirt, or a 3/4 sleeve shirt for work.
I will wear my Angostura by adding length so it has the feel of a tunic. I would also add two patch pockets to the front. This would give it a unique “Art Deco” feel.
Thanks for the inspiration and the contest give away!
Happy Knitting!
Thank you for including larger sizes — and for including a larger-sized model so we can envision how things will look. I would definitely wear this vest over a long sleeve white tee with jeans (although I’m not sure which of the yummy colors I’d choose). But I think it would also look fabulous over an old-fashioned flower print dress that I have. A fun way to keep a bit warmer as the nights are starting to cool off.
I would love to make this up to wear job hunting this fall. I think it would give me a little confidence boost.
I would love to wear this with flannel trousers, a crisp buttondown and oxford shoes. The angostura is so feminine it will be a nice contrast to the tailored pieces. Perfect for work!
i love the Angostura Vest. I think it would be flattering on any shape.
I think definitely over a collared shirt in cooler months.
I’d make it in purple and wear it to work with a crisply ironed white shirt and charcoal grey trousers or pencil skirt. On the weekends I would wear it with a soft long-sleeved tee and wide trousers.
What a delicious contest! While the only way I could make this is to win the giveaway, I’d love to make this and wear it over a t shirt with a jeans skirt, hand knit striped socks, and birkies. Just my thing! Also would love to win the book, how wondeful! good luck me. Shari at momoshari@yahoo.com
I only have a shoulder left to knit on MINE! It is a deep red/pink. I will wear it over a bright green shirt with my new skinny jeans. Actually getting excited about fall!
Love it! I love how it’s styled with a puff sleeved blouse, but it’s more me to wear it over a fitted short sleeve t (more comfortable). I’d knit it in a light blue to show off the beautiful stitch pattern, a bright white short sleeved scoop neck t, and a jean skirt with boots. I live in southern California, so I could live in it all year ;)
I think I’d wear it over something long-sleeved to dress up that long sleeved shirt with a great necklace (maybe the one I recently brought home from Bermuda — it’s a wood sun with inlays) with my black slacks (not jeans) and take it all to a nice classical concert. Or dress it up if it’s a fancier concert — I have some nicer necklaces and earrings, of course. And the color. Hmm. Have to think about that one a bit. And find a better monitor for the colorways.
I love the vest and I see myself knitting it in a variety of colors. It’s so versatile and lends itself to work and play, weekdays and weekends. The accessories would put this right over the top.
Thank you for such an amazing design!
It looks great on the model as is. I would also wear it over a t-shirt or over a colorful blouse/shirt. Dress it up with a skirt and boots or funk it out with jeans, You can never have too many hand knit vests in your wardrobe and they make great gifts for friends and familly too.
Love the new book, very cute designs, cheers.
It’s too warm here, so I’d make the vest & mail it to my daughter who likes living where it’s cold nearly year around.
I love this vest! The back detail reminds me of a 20′s look. I would definately wear this with something vintage, like a long wool skirt with a back kick pleat and of course some high boots. It would look great with a short sleeve peter pan collar blouse and possibly a short corduroy jacket. I’m not sure about the color scheme there are just sooooo many possibilities.
Oh, my gosh. That pattern is beautiful, and I think it would look perfect with my white short-sleeve peter-pan blouse, and vintage navy pencil skirt. Or my corduroy lavender circle skirt. Or black skinny jeans. It’s perfect and versatile.
Yay, Ysolda! Yay, everybody!
I would wear this with jeans and a white shirt. I would make it in a very festive color for simple holiday fun and entertaining. I love that I can make something to really fit! Makes me want to knit for some larger than a grandbaby.
I would love to add some little beads around the neck to dress it up, then I could wear it with a silk blouse and dress pants. Once added to your wardrobe this vest would be invaluable……it can be worn with almost anything, jeans, skirts, bermudas, shorts and even added over dresses. Thank you for a wonderful pattern and for all the additional sizes.
I would knit this in probably Tokyo Rose or Rosetti Purple and wear it this fall over a tshirt with a pair of jeans or slacks depending on the occasion.
I would wear it with a white blouse, a long jean skirt and a matching jean jacket for the upcoming fall weather.
I usually (read: pretty much never) wear vests, but Angostura is so adorable! I’d definitely make an exception. :) I could see myself wearing it over skirts, denim jeans, khakis… I’d probably wear it over a white button-down shirt or something. :)
This book is fantastic. It makes it so much clearer to “do the math” for a garment that really fits. I hope that it is just the latest in a long string of upcoming publications from Ysolda!
P.S., I would wear my Angostura with a calf length bias cut plaid skirt, a tailored shirt and really great boots!
I think I would knit it with a little bit of negative ease and wear it under a cute little open front cardigan with jeans.
Dressed up or dressed down with jeans or casual pants for work. Just so many possibilities — and I’d probably make one in several colors.
I would knit one for myself and one for my daughter who works under a very cold air vent. Nice to see designs which aren’t designed for anorexic models.
I would wear the vest with a 3/4 length sleeve shirt to work. Since I work in a shop where the door is opening and closing all the time, it is hard to stay at a comfortable temperature and I have found that vests work great for this. I didn’t used to be a “vest” person, so I currently only own one (EZ’s Rib Warmer). This vest is beautiful and I would love to wear it and show it off at work (not to mention that I would enjoy having a new addition to my VERY limited vest wardrobe)!
To be honest, I have intentions of knitting this for work. My office is generally chilly, so it’d be lovely over a long sleeved t-shirt or blouse with dress slacks to keep me from huddling under a blanket all fall/winter/spring/summer.
By generally chilly, I mean my office is really freakin’ cold and could probably be used to house penguins.
This is one of my favorite patterns from the book, and I would love to make it in red to wear over my turtleneck and jeans for the winter months. It would also look great as a tank top in the summer.
I’d wear mine as a great layer over a long sleeve tee shirt in the cooler months. I would layer a hooded cardi over it when it’s really cold.
I’m so happy these garments are sized for busty gals like myself! I’d make mine in a dark color like the one pictured, over a drapey-necked long sleeve thin tee, and some khakis. Thanks for the opportunity!
I would wear this vest with a huge smile because I would be so proud at having made something so attractive that truly fit my frame. Thank you so much for creating this book and teaching us how to personalize our knitting so it flatters.
With those great waist-defining lines, I can imagine wearing Angostura all the time – to work with dress pants, on the weekend with jeans. Maybe a simple white 3/4 sleeve blouse under it.
I absolutely love your designs, and would wear this with a big smile! The details of Angostura are lovely!! What color?…Tokyo Rose, Rosetti Purple or Mephisto would make me even happier!!
Thank you Ysolda!
Hi! I’d make two vests – one for me and one for my son! Wouldn’t we look sweet walking down the street? (although, I do remember disliking that as a child when my grandmother made my mother, my sister and me all the same dress.). Thanks for this offer.
I would make it hip length (medicaly caused dressing problems) or maybe even dress length to use as a jumper.
I would like to fit it to wear as a sleeveless top, Houston is the place for light wear!
Lauren
I love this pattern so much! I’d wear it with a crisp white button down shirt and a pencil skirt for work, or with jeans a tshirt for the weekend. The only hard part would be deciding what color to make it!
I live in Dallas where I’m dreaming of cooler weather. A vest is perfect as winters are unpredictable and it’s smart to dress in layers.
oh my goodness amanda looks adorable! what a gorgeous vest! i would wear it over a cotton dress and barefeet, since i live at the beach. i hope hope hope this is my lucky day!! thank you for the giveaway and good luck everyone!
I am a great Ysolda fan- I would love to wear this over one of my dresses I make using vintage patterns from the 1930′s or 40′s, outfit completed with buttoned shoes, lace stockings, and red lipstick.
How I love this book!
I’d make the vest to go over a 3/4 length sleeve t-shirt. The vest would be a jewel tone – saphire or ruby. And of course thanks to fitting information, it will cover my Himalayas perfectly!
Oh so cute! I’d wear my Angostura over a long white button down and skinny jeans. High heels are a must and I’d top it all off with a gorgeous handmade silver and bronze necklace and earrings set. Off to the art fair…
I would wear mine with a tank, a blouse, a tee and a thin sweater. Not all at the same time of course :)
I would make one in light blue after the my baby comes in October.
Dear Ysolda,
I am thin with a larger bust. So, I am thinking of the Angostura vest worn with a white longsleeve button-down collar with only a bolo tie tucked into the vest for jewelery and a great pair of jeans. Cowboy clog boots with Angostura socks of course. Maybe a classic wrist watch, but maybe not. The only item to notice should be the vest and (in this situation) the model of course.
Respectfully, gina
Such a lovely piece…I can think of a few ways to wear it…over a handmade retro shirtdress in a similar color with some crimson shoes (I think that would look lovely with the blue)…with my favorite jeans and a crisp white blouse…over a short-sleeved t-shirt with a flowery skirt…I could go on : )
I love the detail at the shoulders and would have to wear my hair up to show these off properly. I’m thinking some simple silver hoops for a little shine without distracting from the vest and also an understated button-up shirt and pencil skirt or pants. Though for summer a more colorful blouse would also look lovely with against darker colored vest shown, maybe even something shear and floral? I’ve been thinking of adding a vest to my wardrobe for fickle office weather and this would be perfect!!
This vest is so classy! I love the simple styling with just enough texture to make it interesting to the eye. I would knit this in the same color and wear with my favorite pair of jeans. It would be perfect for the chilly Northwestern Pennsylvania autumn days.
Great patterns! I would either wear it with a pencil skirt, a white shirt an heels for a classic look. Or for a bit more casual, I would pair it with jeans and long sleeves. I also love how you layered it over your check dress! Loads of options.
Its such a beautiful vest. I’d love to wear it with floral dresses and skirts and also with tailored 1930s – 40s pants. It would also be great with jeans and a simple shirt. Depending on my mood. Just love it!!!!!!
I just bought a couple of light weight long sleeve tshirts and I see this lovely little top as a vest over the shirts in the winter, and in the spring with a little shawl over my shoulders to keep me warm in the evenings. what fun!!
Wearing it over an eyelet lace, flutter-sleeved blouse with a square or slightly sweetheart neckline would accent the v-neck nicely and allow for warmer weather wear, adding cropped jeans and ballerina flats would set if of nicely. I’d wear my porceline, handpainted hummingbird earrings and add a shawlette for evening warmth. Perfect.
Oh! How exciting. I’ve actually spent some time looking at Angostura and wondering how I might style it…perhaps over a cami on a warm summer night, and over a blouse for when I’m at the office. What a generous giveaway. Thank you Classic Elite and Ysolda.
Well, being in the Antipodes the winter is rarely cold enough for a full on jumper under your coat. So this year especially I’ve been knitting vests. I a lovely Paper Dolls and a couple of Icelandic lopi vests but the Angostura is next on my list. I have my copy of Little Red already but would ADORE some yarn, Meyer Lemon is calling my name. I woul wear it with t-shirts for home, with a pointy bra and new home made Asymmetrical Skirt in grey and turquiose, with pretty blouses and probably my PJs too.
Lovely pattern! I like it for it’s overall simplicity, yet with a touch of intrcate pattern in the twisted stiched patternparts. I would wear it with over a tailord shirt or a nice, thin jumper with a pair of jeans or with a skirt for more dressed up occations. Concrats Ysolda, for a nice pattern.
I’m in the process of changing jobs; going from one where t-shirts and jeans were the norm to a job where a more business like style is a must! This top would be versatile and being a bigger girl would be great to mix with casual T’s and dressy blouses when needed..the book is a huge bonus!
In an orangey-pink for my friend Jessica. It is the perfect vest for her slightly chubby little post-baby body!!!
Thanks for showing this on a largersized model! For me- long sleeved T and a denim skirt!
I would knit it up in a nice medium shade of gray so I could wear with it anything. It would look great over a teal t-shirt with my dark wash skinny jeans, and brown leather shoes. :)
Amanda looks pretty great; I would probably emulate her look!
I would wear it with a white long sleeves t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
Love Angostura ♥
And the baby is so so cute :)
I love vests for winter and cross-seasons. At the moment I’d be wearing it over my Merino tops with jeans or a long skirt.
With a white blouse and a white skirt !
I’d wear it over a dark or red long-sleeved shirt or over a white blouse, with skinny jeans. Add a scarf, maybe some wrist warmers in the same colour as angostura, and I’d probably be warm enough in what they call summer around here.
Then enjoy a cocktail with some Angostura, mixed by my dear boyfriend!
I’d definitely like one in red that I would wear everywhere! I’m a jeans and tee kinda girl so this would make my outfit look just a bit smarter :)
What a fabulous vest — add me to the list of those amazed that it’s knit in worsted weight wool. I love that it’s tailored but not severe, perfect for wearing with my office “uniform” of cotton shirt, trousers, and blazer.
P.S. I’ve been watching the urban violence with great sadness. Stay safe and, as EZ would say, knit on!
I would wear my Angostura in a warm chocolate brown or a green from the woods with one of my self-sewn tweedy skirts and a blouse to lighten up my office days. Maybe with matching Vejla’s on colder days…
Oooh, this is the pattern that jumped out at me from the book. I think I will wear it over a white girly blouse, the one with a frilly collar. I plan to knit this in a rich dark red so it will go well with a white or even the palest pastels.
I just moved to the East and I picture Angostura being the perfect transition piece as we move into autumn (my favourite season!).
Thanks for having this giveaway.
I would wear it over a blouse to my oral PhD examination.
I’m so in love with your books and love (almost) all of your designs!
Cheers,
Tina
I’d knit this for my beautiful daughter, who would appreciate the subtle Celtic touches. I’d make it in a soft neutral, so she could layer it over colorful tees and wear with jeans or skirts.
Ohhh ! I would have liked the baby! lol I have some undyed New Lanark Aran which is so smooshy , but I may dye it either Scarlet or Sky Blue(or Grey the usual Scottish sky colour in the West Coast).
I’ll wear it with jeans or a pencil skirt and boots , over a short sleeved blouse. probably.
Anyway – pattern is gorgeous , love all the LRITC patterns , and have plenty of New Lanark to get me started , just need time!
Mx
I love the detailing on this and would show it off over my standard uniform of jeans and a t-shirt for work, where it would provide just enough warmth to combat the lower temps in the store, which is temp controlled for the people in coats, not those of us who work here. And on the rare nights out, I’d pop it on over a button down shirt and a line skirt, with tights and mary janes!
Are you serious? What could I change to make perfection better? I would make it in that color and it would go with absolutely anything. Love it.
I’d knit mine up and wear it to job interviews to impress potential bosses with my professional look and creativity. ‘Oh, this old thing? I knitted it myself with a little help from my friend Ysolda… You’ll hire me on the basis of her knitting design genius? Great, see you Monday at 9am.’
I would definitely wear this vest to work, with a skirt and blouse. I love the look and would not change anything.
Over a billowing silk blouse, sipping a Gin and Tonic while cruising down the Orinoco, possibly solving a murder.
I love vests! This one is interesting to the eye and to knit! I wear them with white long sleeved t-shirts andblue jeans. It’s a fall through spring uniform.
This is a great year-round piece for my climate and workplace. Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
Over a white T-shirt with blue jeans and my fluevogs.
The vest will be great to wear with a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve t-shirt, in the autumn to break the chill ,of course your favorite jeans, a little jewelry, boots or clogs and you are all set to look put together for whatever tasks lay ahead in the day.
Vests are the perfect go to item for in between seasons in NH. Plus they are quick to knit.
I would wear Angostura with jeans and a crisp, white blouse. Classic!
With a fitted blouse with french cuffs and a black pencil skirt. And of course, fantastic shoes to celebrate such a pretty knit!
That vest would be perfect for an extra layer of warmth during the long hours sitting in front of my computer at work: I could easily match it with any of my shirts, which are not warm enough for cold Scottish weather!!
I would wear Angostura all the time in the winter. Living in a hot climate, I rely on vests to make it feel like winter, but not melt! They are so great to put over a nice t-shirt, or a button down shirt, with jeans or skirts.
I would knit this for my daughters! Blue for Anna, Red for Mary and Green for Edith! They’ll love them!
My older daughter has just taken an interest in vests of all type, so I’d knit this for her. I’m sure she’d wear it in her usual eclectic style.
I would just love to make this pullover to wear over a collared shirt, with jeans. The autographed book would be lovely to have, too.
I would wear the vest almost every day–I love Ysolda’s patterns!
I love this vest! I would probably knit it in either red or purple yarn (two of my favorite colors) and wear it with one of my long-sleeved cotton tees or a white blouse.
I would wear my Angostura over a long sleeved turtleneck b/c my house is cold in the late autumn and the winter. The sample is well done and lets me know that it will look good on someone who is not particularly skinny.
I’d love to enter too if this is open internationally.
I’d wear my Agostura to work, with black pants and a light long-sleeved top.
Thanks for the chance!
spamscape [at] gmail [dot] com
With pants and a shirt for work –
I would probably choose a subdued grey so that it would go with as much of my work wardrobe as possible. We have long, cold winters and it would be perfect layered over a long sleeved top :)
I’d love to make this in a heather gray to wear over t-shirts (long sleeved or short). What a beautiful pattern!
I would make this in a jewel tone. I love the delicate detail and would wear it over a silk t-shirt with jeans or dressier pants depending on the occasion.
Beautiful pattern… I’d wear this as a tank top under a suit jacket for a sophisticated yet casual work outfit. My 1st lace project was Ysolda’s Ishba pattern and it turned out beautifully, love her designs!
This is a beautifully constructed vest.Very versatile.Great for layering and best for me with either long or short sleeved t shirts.
I will make it to wear as a summer top. My friend Maggie wants one too. She doesn’t knit; I may make it for her; after I make my own;) I want to make Chickadee, too. (PS Love Little Red! Thanks for writing it.)
I LOVE this vest. I would be wearing it with my jeans and tshirt to work. It would be perfect for those cold days with many hot flashes!!
Julie
I see that vest in either lavender or yellow green. It has been over 100 every day in Texas where I live since June so definitely would wear it as a tank with either olive green or brown cropped cargos. When it gets a little cooler I would put a short sleeve lace tee shirt on underneath that was longer than the vest so the lace would stick out from the bottom of the vest . Love that piece.
I love this vest! I would make it in soft blue and wear a white collared dress shirt under it. For daywear, I would pair it with black or kakhi twills, and for evening I would pair it with a plaid a-line skirt and a long beaded necklace. Can’t wait to make it!
I love this vest! I’d wear it nearly constantly. With a t-shirt, long or short sleeves, as a tank with nothing under it, with jeans or shorts, or a skirt, all depending on the weather…..
I love the way this sweater is styled in these photos (and the color is GORGEOUS)! I’d probably also wear it with a short-sleeved button-up shirt. It would get a lot of wear at work. Thanks so much for having the giveaway!
I would wear it quickly before my daughter decided she had to have it.
I am a constant knitter but knit for everyone but myself. I seem to have a one in a kind figure and all my sweaters and vests would look better on “Sponge Bob Square Pants” than they do on me.
Vests are so versatile. I would wear this clever design everywhere including playing golf at my dad’s house in the sticks where I would garner looks of ‘are you sure you want to wear that lovely vest in the woods?’
What a great vest! It could be worn with anything, but I would probably wear it with a t-shirt and a cute skirt. Thank you so much for the give a way!!!
I think I would knit one to wear over my Episcopal clergy shirt. Sometimes I want to wear my collar, but I don’t need to wear a jacket. This would be a perfect informal work look for a college chaplain!
With a pair of jeans and white blouse. Love all the patterns and the bag is so cute. I have my own little baby to model the bag.
I would wear mine over one of my prom dresses and let the awesomenesss shine!!!
I love all your patterns! Thank you for being such an awesome designer!
How would I wear ‘Angostura’ ? I would wear it with pride. It is a lovely design. I think anyone would wear it with pride; whether they made it or received it as a gift.
I love the color of Angostura on the model! But since I’m not much of a vest person, I’d probably figure out how to add sleeves, and then I’d wear it constantly – it’d be my first sweater!
I would make my Angostura in the Bracken color of Chesapeake and pair it with my favorite pumpkin colored long sleeved tee. I’d add one of my large stone pendant necklaces to highlight the color and rib patterning of the vest. I’d probably also accent the outfit with one of my vintage silk scarves used as a headband. Thanks for designing your patterns to include us “curvy” gals, Ysolda!
I’d wear my angostura vest over either a turtleneck sweater or a collared shirt. It’s cool where I am so it would be nice to carry the vest in my car to don on and off whenever I need to as an alternative to a light jacket.
I live in layers, the vest would be great anytime!!!!!
What a great contest! I have been drooling over this book, but I am not in a place to purchase it right now. I would make it in a neutral color to layer over any t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, or nice blouse.
I would wear it as a tank top (without much ease) with a long flowy skirt.
I’d wear it over a button down shirt with straight leg trousers. Perfect for casual Fridays!
Well, I think what’s so great about it is that I could wear it so many different ways, depending on my mood or what’s clean!
I just started a new job in a new city, and think I would wear it to work with a thin pullover underneath, black with 3/4 sleeves and either tight black jeans or more loose fitting chinos in black or blue.
Gotta say, I love the styling in this photo, but I might mix it up with a cute floral skirt! Beautiful vest :)
Hello,
First, I want to say you that I like very much your patterns!
I’d wear your Angostura with a black leather rock (not too short, near the knees) and a long arm t-shirt. Of course, shoes like “ballerines” or “mocassins”.
Sorry for the french words: as I’m Swiss, I speak french and I have forgot so many words I had learned at school!
Let’s see, I think I’d wear it with jeans and a nice collared blouse… with a funky headband! What a lovely pattern!
I would wear it over a long or short sleeve button up shirt and a skirt or jeans depending on the weather that day.
I would wear this classic piece many ways while pursuing my art curating work…dress it up with white blouse and black skirt, or with jeans on casual days!
Looks like a lot of people would like to win this pattern/yarn. Well, of course, who wouldn’t? I am a huge vest wearer and this one looks like it could be worn with just about anything …. jeans, cute little skirt, even a suit. Me, I would probably wear it with slacks and a classic shirt or a casual skirt and turtle neck if it was cold out.
Definitely layered over a white tunic blouse with dark skinny jeans, leather sandals, and some funky wood jewelery. Perfect!
I kinda want to put a striped shirt under it and a skirt. If I win can I have that baby too?
Oh that is one sexy vest!! I would wear it paired with a lovely white blouse just like the model is and black pants with heels, or a fuchsia blouse with a pencil skirt that sits just above the knee. And maybe boots. Sexy pencil thin boots I probably can’t walk in. In short, that vest is gorgeous. :)
When I will knit Angostura, I’ll be making one for work and one for play! For work it’ll be either charcoal or brown to wear with my long-sleeved t-shirts and my white dress shirt. For at home or to go out it’s got to be red! :)
Angostura is beautiful! I would knit this is something soft and fluid, maybe a silk/bamboo blend, wear it as a sleeveless summer top in a peachy-mango/pink shade and pair it with a lightweight, gauzy, very plain cotton ivory-color mid-length skirt. Perfect for summer!
Styling ….. hmmm I suspect it will be thrown over whatever else I happen to have on to provide lovely, cosy warmth.
I love that blue color over the white shirt and would pair it with black jeans.
I own several blouses or shirts that don’t quite fit under other jumpers, so Angostura would be perfect for this! I’d love to make this in a nice rusty orange and wear it with jeans for some contrast or with a nice fitted skirt for some elegance. Either way, it would look fabulous!
I would wear it with great versatility…to reflect the versatility and to pay tribute to the original Angostura Bitters! And of course, knitted in a lovely claret colour…at least the first one, again to honour the wonderful Angostura Bitters. Then I would knit others that could be based on the known ingredients, such as herbs and gentian, so that would take care of my versions in greens and blues!
I would probably wear it with a shirt underneath and lots of bright colored bangles and a bright tote
This is simply stunning! I’d wear it over a long sleeved button down shirt as well. It has such a nice tailored look. Ysolda’s Little Red book is amazing!
the vest looks very interesting and yet uncomplicated. Hope to give it a try…
I think I would go with an earthy color and I would wear it over a long sleeve t-shirt with a pair of khakis and my favorite wool beret.
I would be wearing this awesome vest with a 3.4 length tee and the straight leg khakis I purchased from Banana…
I’d definitely wear it with a cute button down, preferably with lace trim, but I’d love to try it with a long-sleeved skinny top in a jewel tone!
Angostura would suit me in a rich indigo blue over a crisp white button down and khakis. Casual Friday wear, playful and professional.
I live in hope of being discovered by the Sartorialist. So for maximum impact I’ll knit it in tangerine and wear it over a fuschia pink maxi dress worn with Balenciaga wedges and a green manicure.
How does one tell anyone the joy of making a sweater designed by you I would make it in the same color as shown and have all the joy of wearing a vest that is fitted for me [not an easy task] jacklyn
What a beautiful vest! It would probably have to share my white button-up or plain t’s with Liesel. As others have said, it would be great with skirts or jeans, so I could wear it anywhere!
I would allow the design to speak for itself, so would wear a silky tee with slim pants. All in shades of the same color, with the vest a little bit brighter. I see this as an elegant design. It would make me feel happy.
I love Angostura and I love wearing vests.
I would wear a natural or grey vest over my tunics with high Empire-style waistline and a longsleeve tee in our Dutch, wet and chilly autums and a jeans. In summer I will wear bright colors and lots of white, but I do tone down during the autum and winter. In winter I rather like a longsleeved cardigan… ;-))
I loved your ishbel neck scarf. I worked it this summer; my first small shawl with almost no coaching! I felt quite independent. I’ve thumbed thru the newest book & look forward to really reading it! The patterns look like they’re made for real people & the yarn choices are some of the markets’ best. Thanks for your great work!
I like the picture of Amanda with the gray color. This sweater looks like pin stripe. It looks classy and yet I think it would look great with jeans. Love it!
I would love to make an Angostura. This would be perfect for me to wear to work over a beautiful blouse. I am excited that the pattern is available in a wide variety of sizes!
What a beautiful vest and in a fabulous shade of my favorite color! Perfect! Your pattern is quite amazing; great with a skirt or jeans. I only began knitting recently and I think your book would be very helpful as I attempt to make sweaters.
I have the perfect crisp, white blouse with a wide collar & pintucks down the front that I’d wear under this lovely vest. Paired with a tartan plaid pencil skirt, tights & boots would make the perfect fall outfit!
I always have trouble fitting garments to my small breasted large bottomed shape. I would wear my Angostura Vest close to my curves and know that people were staring at my clothes instead of my body!
Oooo! how nice. I think I would wear it with a crisp white shirt or a flannel when it is really cold out!
I live in Florida and vests are great down here. I’m not petite by any stretch and cant wait to get my hands on this book! I’m thinking a tropical kind of color but, that blue looks very appealing. Thank from a big and tall girl, Diana
This vest is beautiful – classic lines with modern slant. Would love to make this up in Mandarin orange Chesapeake to wear with T-necks and tailored white blouses this Fall/Winter. Would pair beautifully with jeans or dress trousers. Thank you Ysolde for this lovely pattern!
sweatervest wednesday!
I’d wear this very happily over my usual winter turtlenecks. Would be so cosy!
I would love it in the color shown, to wear over a button down blouse with 3/4 sleeves, over jeans.
I love Ysolda’s designs – I made the scroll shawl/scarf for my family to wear at my son’s wedding last fall. I can’t wait to get this book!
Hmmm…I would like to make this in a soft grey and wear it with a long sleeved silk Tshirt with my beautiful black velvet trousers…makes me cozy just thinking about it!!
Thanks for the give-away!
this would be the perfect layering piece for our canadian climate! i would make it in a cheery shade to perk up those long winter days ahead!
What a fun vest to wear with jeans!
This would be perfect with my jeans and a blouse, and my new black jacket. Thanks for the giveaway.
Fun!! Pigtails, Chucks, Capri’s, polo shirt and argyle socks. Done!!
I’d wear it with a button down shirt and slacks in my perpetually chilly office at work. I almost always gravitate to bright jewel tones, but something about the gray that Amanda is wearing is so appealing, I just might try it.
I would love to wear this with a blouse and denim skirt or pants. Love to wear hand knits to the middle school where I teach.
I would wear mine over a crew neck tee, with my denim crops rolled up a bit and with my black loafers and then pretend it was 1957. I was so born in the wrong decade.
I might wear this lovely vest all by itself in my hot muggy climate, or, it would be a perfect layering piece for the mild days of winter. It is indeed a beautiful design.
I would wear Angotura most of the year! Spring & Fall over a t-shirt and when it is colder over a long sleeve button down or turtle neck. I love the twisted stitches detail at the shoulders!
I think this is a beautiful vest. I would be very happy to win this contest and be able to make it for myself. The book looks excellent and very helpful to a person at my stage of knowledge about constructing sweaters – pretty low! As for wearing it, I’d say – over a shirt, like anyone else. That’s easy!
With a pair of jeans. Thank you for the contest!
I think I would want several of the Angostura Vests in several different colors. I would wear this vest with everything from skirts to jeans and even shorts.
What a lovely design. I would wear it over a printed bow tie blouse and a solid skirt. I would also add a belt.
Or, if I feel the slouchy look, I would wear with a tank and wide legged pants. The vest would be in an emerald green.
hi, my sister will wear the angostura! she has been requesting a vest from me for several years, now, and it’s time that i complied. i’ve decided that the angostura would look beautiful on her, and i’ll enjoy knitting it!
I would wear it with a shirt and jeans. Or with a t-shirt and jeans.
Pick me, pick me. I would love to win so I can knit something other than scarves and hats. I would wear it very smart and classic with a vintage brooch!
I have a shirt that has a stain on the front. I would wear Angostura over it so the shirt is still presentable.
So generous!! I’ve been wanting to knit this vest. I’d like to say that it’ll go with anything (it will), but let’s be honest. I wear jeans all day because I’m caring for a 9 month old. So I can dress it up or down… depending on if the kid spits up on me that day. ;)
I would wear mine to work with pale gray cords I have and probably a light brown short sleeved button-up shirt.
Oh, wow! I love wearing this kind of vest; they are a staple of my wardrobe. Usually with a white shirt and signature cotton skirt – and a feature necklace if I’m in a jewellery mood. But they work fabulously with jeans, too – and a long-sleeved t-shirt underneath – if I don’t need to be office-smart.
Thanks for the ‘classy’ and sphisticated design.I would wear it for co llege with a full-lenghth skirt and a light jacket on top.
I would try to insert a couple of pockets just because I always seem to need to but my chapstick someplace! I definitely would use the same beautiful color blue.
Rhoooo, so lovely pattern !
Could even be wearen by a man, don’t you think ?
With a pair of dark jeans, over a White shirt (sleeve above the Elbow).
Thank for this post Ysolda, take care.
Cheers.
I would wear with a silk flower (broach) pinned at the v-neck to add summer flair.
How would I wear Angostura?
Angostura is the Perfect vest in any color and to wear with everything, everyday!
We are coming into spring down here in Australia . So if I won and made this lovely vest it would give me an excuse to go soppping for the perfect short sleeve girly shirt :)
I love an excuse to go shopping
I’d wear it to work. The office is freezing in summer & hot in winter. That would be good for summer ;)
I love the color in the book so I would probably knit it in the same color. As for styling, it would be great to wear on the weekends with jeans over a t-shirt. Can’t wait to get this book!
Hello Ysolda! So glad to see you again! Have you been having a crazy summer? I’ll wear my Angostura with a t-shirt and jeans, instantly making my sloppy outfit look smart. xoxo -Pixiewear
I would wear it with a short sleeve shirt under it( in a bright color) with a skirt, knee highs and some fluevogs. Sounds a bit like your style from what I can see, huh? I do love your style and your knitting patterns.
Silk shirt, wool slacks and a silk scarf. Feet are as yet undetermined…
The harder question is what couldn’t I wear this vest with and how to keep it out of my daughter’s closet.
So I would wear it with my jeans and a comfy tee in the morning when I walk the dog. My daughter could wear it to school over a Peter pan collared shirt and her plaid skirt. And If I can borrow it back I can wear it with a silk blouse and dress pants whenI go out to dinner with my husband.
As far as color I think a nice dark gray would be wonderful or a beautiful golden yellow with a little brown like the hay they are harvesting n the fields right now is a color I am dying to find and knit with now.
I think I’ll wear it on a white shirt and a pair of trousers with wide legs. And heels of course!
Lovely vest. I could wear it with T-shirt or blouse and jeans.
I’d love to win it.
Merja from Finland
Just my style – V-neck! I would wear it for work with a blouse & slacks.
I would wear it with a short sleeve or long sleeve t shirt and a patterned skirt and would be worn constantly. Love all the designs in the new book. Thanks.
Vests are one of the “approved” dress code items where I work.
I love this pattern! I’m envisioning a brighter blue, or cranberry color.
Thanks!
why, proudly of course!
Great pattern. What a generous give away. Thanks for wonderful designs
I love this pattern. I would pair it with a tee, a-line skirt and knee high boots
OOOh lovely pattern and I love it in the grey color as it would go with everything. Would be a great layering piece over a long sleeve T or blouse here in NH where layers are king.
I would wear mine with neutral clothes, so that the details show more. For instance pants or a long skirt, and something very simple and neutral underneath, probably a long sleeved T-shirt. My favourite colour for it would definitly be mandarine orange!
Layering is a big deal here in South Texas, where the weather is very hot for 5-7 months of the year, but I work in a chilly, air-conditioned office. I would make my Angostura in a warm, neutral Caramel to go over other tanks, T-shirts or blouses and/or under other sweaters or jackets. Love the real-person model; my figure type is very similar to hers, so I know I would love the finished garment! Thanks to all concerned for bringing this pattern to our attention!
Hi everyone! I love this vest! So practical and yet you can show off your fierce knitting skills.
I would wear this to work and to teach my knitting and crochet classes. It gets cold in the studio where I work; and my students need to see gorgeous, classy, fairly simple -to – knit garments. This is Ideal!
Best of luck to everyone.
Hearts and smiley faces!
I’m on a bit of a 70s jag at the moment so this would be perfect! I have just the skirt and boots…
This vest looks very versatile. I am a very casual person, so I would wear it with jeans and white Tshirt.
Perfect for work over a button down shirt and a tailored skirt, with lots of layered pears and a little leopard print scarf thrown in!
I think there’s a few different ways you can wear it:
1. Just like the model photo
2. Throw on a brightly colored shirt underneath and a short skirt, and its a fun date night.
3. I think it would be cute with a pastel yellow shirt and a Swirl skirt underneath as well.
4. You could roll up the bottom to have a cute cropped vest to wear with a patterned shirt and jeans.
5. Heck, as it is in the model photo you could add jeans and it would give it a totally different look.
6. You could even wear it with a peasant shirt underneath and a flowy skirt and it would still look good.
7. Knitted a little longer, it could be a cute sleeveless dress
8. A turtleneck and jeans would give it a cute “teacher” vibe.
9. My husband says I could wear it with a uniform skirt and it would be a good “school-girl” outfit.
Amazing design, and I hope I win!
I just love the dark gray color as pictured on the model. I would knit mine in the same color and pair it with a pinstriped pencil skirt (same gray) and a french blue long-sleeved button down blouse. I’d add black pumps, a strand of pearls, and pearl earrings and I’d have a classy conservative work look that suits my style perfectly. Love the design and hope I win!
I love that dark grey color but might go with a medium grey. I’m holding onto summer as hard as I can so I’m thinking I’d wear it as a tank, with jeans or perhaps one of my summer skirts. Strappy sandals.
I know that I’d wear it throughout the winter as well with a plain t-shirt underneath–also with jeans but not yet. Please, not yet!
Perfect with my black suit for work-a piece like this should be shown off.
i’d wear my angostura over a short sleeve button-down shirt with a short, full skirt in a cute print, tights, my black motorcycle/riding boots, and one of those cute little across-the-body bags. maybe i’d throw in a leather cuff or a chunky necklace just to add a little extra somethin’ somethin’.
Hmm, I think I’d have to wear it with knee socks (argyle?), and clunky-heeled clogs. Not sure what shirt or pants.
Good thing you clarified what’s in the giveaway package — that baby looks alarmed!! The Angostura looks like I should wear it under a tweed jacket, while filling out call slips in the reading room of the British Library. Unfortunately, it won’t be that exciting. Jeans and a menswear shirt, I think, while knitting socks.
Denim skirt, long-sleeved shirt, jewel-tone vest, handknit socks – perfect for fall in Texas!
Georgina Bow Creations
I would wear it over my black dress in winter. As a work staple over long sleeve top & with A line skirts, then at weekends dressed down with denim skirt & jeans. Come spring it would provide warmth over 3/4 length sleeves.
I would wear it as a wardrobe classic shifting from formal to informal like the shake of a sheeps tail :O)
I will make this vest for my daughter to wear to the office. She is a very stylish/hip accountant-manager, I know that doesn’t sound possible, and at 5’9″ she’s very athletic and looks great in everything. She will probably wear it with a mid-calf skirt, scarf or shawl around her neck, long sleeve blouse and knee high boots.
This looks like a wonderful autumn vest — perfect for exploring quaint towns in the Smokies. I’d probably make one in a lovely gold or amber color reminiscent of fall leaves. :)
I’d wear my Angostura with a fitted button down shirt, collar open, dark jeans and my shiny dark red patent leather Dansko clogs.
I’d wear it with jeans over a long-sleeve T as an extra layer of warmth at the hockey rink while watching my daughter practice or play games. (Then I wouldn’t have to keep pushing up my sweatshirt sleeves to keep my knitting needles from catching in the cuff.) I’d probably knit it in a bright color like red, green, or purple and/or my favorite neutral- a deep, smoky grey.
wow!!! I love it the way it is, and being built pretty much like the model, will wear mine as a vest–in a lucious plum color.
I will wear this lovely gem layered over a t-shirt in lou of fleece while we await summer, long-delayed, here in Seattle!
I would wear it in a super bright red or spring green with big floofy skirts and high boots…perfect for fall!
i would wear my angostura with a 3/4 length sleeve ballet-neck t-shirt and my favorite blue jeans. love the details of this vest…it could also be dressy with a skirt and shirt…very versatile wardrobe item!
It would be bright red or leaf green and I would wear it with everything pants, capris, skirts, dresses. I L-O-V-E vests I wear them all the time. Thank you and CEY for this giveaway
I would wear it layered over a t-shirt with a cardigan on top to stay toasty warm all winter.
In winter I would pair it with a snug top underneath, fitted jeans and rockin boots. Or for spring (bring it on!!) a nice floral vintage skirt and ballet flats. Love the vest it’s so versatile.
What a great vest. I would make one in an earthy color for my daughter in London. She’s the stylish one in the family.
This is yummy! I’d wear it with a brightly patterned scarf over a black loong-sleeved tee and black pants. Or, on weekends, over my pajamas as I lounge over a cup of tea and a book.
I’d wear this with a flouncy skirt and a crisp white blouse. And another day with jeans and a frilly, patterned blouse. Perfect in so many combinations. Thanks for the contest.
Oh yeh ! I’d love it in bright olive green … a red shirt with white little dots, red velvet short skirt, a black leather belt and black boots ! I’m ready to cast on, winner or not ;-)
I would make it in orange (one of the colors of my favorite baseball team) so I can wear it on cool nights at the ball park! WooHoo!
I would wear my Angostura vest in a shade of purple. Why purple? Because I love purple. I would wear it proudly to school and I would look AMAZING in it because it was knit by me in an absolutely amazing yarn!
I love the Angostura vest, it looks great. I would wear it to school, I teach elementary art, as sleeved sweaters are usually too warm for me here in NC and in my room plus as a vest I don’t have to worry about “dipping” sleeves in the paint. I love the idea that I can make it to fit me, as I don’t like tight sweaters, and I am usually a 2x and with some things a 3x is even better. I would make mine either in a blue or perhaps a purple, two of my fav colors and I wear a good bit of demim. This vest looks good for any occation from jeans to a skirt. Can’t wait.
I agree with others, I would wear this with a long sleeve in the winter time or a short sleeve this fall. It would be perfect dressed up for work of dressed down for fun!
This would be very versatile!! I think I would make it in a deep rose/red and wear it over my pink button front shirt and black jeans. A cute pair of black heels and you’ve got a great date-nite combo!!
I seem to wear everything over long-sleeved t-shirt-like shirts, so that’s how I’d probably end up wearing this, too. Love the back detail!
I’d love to make it in a blue. I’d wear it to the office and when workng from home, as we keep our house pretty cool in winter, and here in Minnesota, that means chilly rooms. And if I lose some weight, I’d make another in red and wear with skirts as well. And I’d really really love to win that super-adorable baby too!!
I love this vest! I was just at my LYS trying to locate a copy of this book. ( NO luck yet) I am planning on making this vest. I think it would look great in a dark orange for the fall. It would be a great casual piece to wear it with a long sleeve t-Shirt underneath and maybe a contrasting colored scarf or shawl around the neck. Love it, Love it!!!
I’d wear Angostura over a floaty sheer patterned blouse (I have one with a peacock feather design that would be lovely with it…) with black skinny pants and tall boots.
This is the perfect addition to my work wardrobe. It would be ideal with a button down shirt and my favorite slightly poufy skirt on a cool fall day.
What a wonderful pattern! I love the twisted ribs that morph into tiny cables. Mine will probably be green or purple–I’m currently in a bit of a color rut–and will go over or under everything. Maybe a lime green to go under my purple suede jacket…. What do you think?
I would wear mine the same as the model: over a crisp white shirt and slacks. It is so elegant! Great giveaway, thanks for the oppurtunity!
I have not yet tried my hand at sweaters of any kind, but I believe this would be a great first start. Thanks!!!
I’d probably knit it in red or teal and where it with a shirt and pencil skirt, sometimes with a corset over the top too.
I will knit it in red. And i will use it whit black jeans and selfsewt polkadotshirt during knitting something more in nursering lessons. Knitting helps me concentrate better to lessons about anatomy or public health care.
I’we been knitted tens of socks, some cardigans and scarfs in 3 year.
One more year to knitt left to be a public healt nurse.
I would love to make one for myself and for each of my daughters.
I would probably make mine in navy blue. I would wear it over a T-shirt, as at the moment my style is more of a sporty casual. But it would look good with a pair of linen trousers and lacy blouse. Also with a long skirt. Actually it looks so versatile it would be easier to say what it does not go with :)
I’d love to knit it in Tokyo Rose and wear it layered with a capped-sleeve shirt in Summer. I think it would also be great over a long-sleeved shirt in Winter with jeans or a smart skirt for work.
I think i’ll wear mine with a liberty shirt, or maybe a colorful checked shirt ! also with a plain brown skirt, or maybe with a simple dress, to enlighten the angostura !!
hum so many ways to wear it…it’s beautiful !!
I will wear this on the golf course, in the work place, while shopping, while dining, while knitting, while doing errands. I love this pattern and see it as a great laying piece.
I think I would wear it with a skirt and boots. I bought some lovely new red boots last week for a bargain price but unfortunately don’t yet have a skirt. I’m hoping to make one by taking a pattern from a lovely vintage M&S skirt I got at the charity shop. It’s my size but it doesn’t fit as I don’t possess a waist, at all! As most skirts are made with a waist if I buy one to fit me they end up super-flarey and look silly.
I do like the Angostura in grey like the one above. Lovely!
You don’t get many chances to wear real sweaters in Florida so this would be a great piece for when we do get some cool weather. I think I would make it in the Scuba Blue since it looks like our NFL team color-which happens to be a favorite. The cooton/wool blend will be breathable and stylish over a white shirt and jeans to cheer at a Jags game.
Always. Probably graphite grey or black and wear it with everything. Or brightly colored to wear with everything colored. Vests are great that way and layering is definitely useful living in Scandinavia. :o)
I love the idea of wearing it as a tank top by itself. There is also the possibility of wearing it with a long sleeve tissue underneath. I would knit it in red.
I’d wear my Angostura with a black pencil skirt and heels – very chic.
I would typically wear it with jeans but in the spring/fall could see myself throwing it on over a short sleeved collared shirt and jean skirt…
What a lovely pattern…
I think I woluld like to wear this in the winter when it’s cold but not freezing freezing cold. On top of a long sleeve button up shirt, or perhaps just over a long sleeve t-shirt, with a skirt and tights or dress pants. I’m not sure which color I like best. Perhaps Tokyo Rose? Or maybe Scuba Blue or Shanghai Red.
Isn’t it nice to see a pattern/garment and instantly feel that you really want to wear it – you can just visualise yourself with it on.
I would probably wear it with a long sleeved shirt and jeans( it took years to find jeans that fit without being altered so I wear them constantly) and ankle boots. And since summer has seen fit to vanish – the weather is so dreich today- the outfit may have to be finished off with a waterproof jacket.
I would probably wear it exactly as she’s wearing it in the pics! I think it’s the perfect vest to wear to the office and it looks good with dressy pants, a nice skirt and even jeans!
I would be wearing mine under a long white coat as professional dress. This is because in about 8 months I will be a medical resident (ie new doctor) and graduate from short coat to long coat. Yay!
Well, vests look wonderful with tailored shirts, but I don’t; so for me it would be with a long sleeved knit tee. And a long pendant necklace. Over jeans or a long skirt.
I would wear mine with 3/4 length sleeve t’s in the fall/winter/spring. Love the look!
Since I have no idea how to wear a vest, maybe you will come style for me =)? I imagine over a button down shirt with khakis for work.
I have never knit up a vest before, but I love the finer details in this pattern! I think this would look really nice for work in the fall season. Thanks for the offer!
I would make this in a bright color and wear to work over a long/short sleeve shirt. Beautiful!
please add me to the poy. I’d make it in red and wear it with a jaunty neckerchief!
sorry, not trying to cheat but put my wrong email in!
Over a long sleeved shirt with jeans.
Endless options here. Over a camisole for warm days with a colorful cotton skirt, over my short sleeved button down with a wool skirt and knee-high boots, over a long sleeved shirt, over my favorite black dress with the cool collar and so on and so on.
How to wear it is far easier to figure out than in what color! Blue, green and/or red, but then of course, also in black or brown for versatility. Ah, the joy of decision-making for fun things.
What a versitile top – I could wear it many ways! On its own in warmer weather, or with a while t-shirt underneath, or with a long sleeved t on weekends in cooler months, or with a blouse with puffy sleeves when I go to work…it would go with pants, skirts, shorts…. Thanks for the opportunity to win this!
This vest is perfect for Texas winter and fall! I love it!
My Angostura will be knitted in a light neutral and set off with a thin, dark leather belt. I can envision this worn over a dress with a pencil skirt, turtleneck and jeans or with a shirt topped by a blazer. I’m excited to make this in time for the cool days of fall.
I would wear it over a long sleeve shirt with jeans – it would be perfect for work to dress up a plain shirt and provide me with a little extra warmth. I might even try it over my fitted white button-down. I would probably make it a nice bright color (to add some color to the neutrals in my wardrobe).
I would like to wear mine (in red) over a t-shirt, with a flippy skirt and tights.
oo it was a hard choice but I think it would be more pretty flower patterned shirt jeans and boots :) and the colour would be mustard Yellow :) Love this pattern!
Good question! I think I’d like it grey or lemon green! Over something white, a shirt or a t-shirt, and grey pants/skirts or jeans… I think this vest would be very versatile!
Normally, I am not a “vest person” but I have fallen in love with Angostura! I think that this vest would make a beautiful and flattering addition to my fall wardrobe. I think that Angostura would look great over a plaid shirt dress (another item on my must-have-for-Fall wardrobe list) paired with a pair of tights and some great boots.
The Angostura would be the perfect update to my “uniform” of jeans and a t-shirt. Thanks so much for such an awesome giveaway!!
I need to make this so I can have a modern and handmade twist on the quintessential geeky sweater vest. :)
OOooh I am thinking Angostura in the colorway Shanghai Red over a button down with my favorite pair of black slacks and a red pair of chuck taylor’s! I wish the baby was included he would look great with any outfit :D
I would love an Angostura to wear with a long-sleeved shirt, knee-length charcoal skirt, tights, and my green Fluevog malibrans. It would make a beautiful addition to my autumn wardrobe…I can just imagine listening to fallen leaves crunch under my feet, breathing in crisp autumn air, and looking amazing in a hand-knit Angostura!
For me … it would be jeans, long sleeve t-shirt and colorful scarf.
I would love to make a couple of these. One for winter in a bright color to break up the dreary fog and one in a lovely wool/silk blend for summer. Perhaps a lovely sky blue.
It would probably fit with everything. A patterned shirt, a block colored dress or worn next to the skin with trousers.
In one of the blues, I think; lovley with an off-white skirt!
I think I would wear it with absolutely everything, all the time: I would be the envy of all my roommates!
Ok, perhaps they could borrow it too, sometimes… ;-)
I KNEW YOU WERE having a BABY, Ysolda!!! :)
But since you’re “camouflaging” that behind a GIVEAWAY, I’d have to say that, depending on the softness of that yarn, I’d like to wear it under an unbuttoned button-up man-shirt.
Looks perfect to wear with jeans and a turtleneck once fall/winter hits. A vibrant color will be a must to brighten up all of the muted ones of fall that will be surrounding me!
I’ll be wearing mine with a big fifties skirt in a co-ordinating colour, maybe patterned but not so much as to take the attention too much away from the lovely knit.
I love how it is styled . . . so I would wear it with a collared shirt/blouse & jeans – or maybe even a skirt.
I will wear my Angostura vest over a shirt and jeans to “dress up” a bit when I do volumteer math tutoring. If I should win, please give the book to someone else. I already have a copy and love it. I am sorking on Cria in a cherry colorway. The bag is a different matter. If odds being what they are, I should not win that, is there a way to purchase a few? By the way, I love your hair cut in the photo with the baby and the bag.
Although I am tempted to knit this in electric blue to brighten up a work outfit on a dull day, I also know I will get more use out of an Angostura in a graphite grey, which I would wear for work with a white shirt and black skirt, or with jeans at the weekend, so that is what I would knit first.
I would wear it over a very sheer and see-through little 3/4 sleeved blouse that I got on H&M. Tight blue jeans and ballerina flats. I wish I win because I can TOTALLY see myself gorgeous in it! ;)
(I would knit it in a bold color. Red, orange?)
I wear all black for work. So I would knit Angostura in a fab bright color yarn to brighten me up at my workplace for the coming autumn and winter!
i love sweater vests! i would wear it over a denim pencil skirt and button up shirt for work, over leggings and a tshirt for class, and with an infinity dress for a classy look.
:) thanks for this lovely chance! very excited get my hands on the book itself as well!
Love this pattern!
I have a neat black knit tank dress w/ matching cardigan that is screaming for color! I would knit this in a holly red and wear it over the dress, under the cardigan.
It would make the PERFECT comfortable, yet beautiful, outfit for wearing to the theater this winter!!!
Ysolda, saw the book at my LYS–its marvelous! I’ll be making this vest in a deep burgundy or plum to be worn with a crisp light blue shirt, gray skirt and tights for work, pink stretchy long-sleeved tee and black jeans for play–can’t wait to cast on!
I will wear it with a pencil skirt… or with blue jeans… pearhaps I will have to knit 2 angostura? or more?
Hmmm, I think I’ll wear it with a white shirt, like a school girl…
I’ll be pairing my angostora with a fine charcoal or dove grey long sleeved top, some grey trousers and an indigo dyed super fine scarf. If feels like winter wo i may as well be dressing for winter.
Hi! My office is really cold over the winter month so I need something to keep me warm, and the Angostura seems to fit the bill, plus it looks good, too. I would wear it with a neutral coloured blouse, an A-line skirt, opaque tights and high heeled Mary Janes.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the book, pattern, bag, and the yarn! Wow!
I would knit the Angostura in Chesapeake´s yarn in Oxford to be worn with Patagonia´s corduroy skirt in Forge Grey, tights, and a three-quarter length sleeve white t-shirt or button down shirt.
Thanks Classic Elite Yarns!
I’m planning to make a green one and will wear it with rolled jeans, purple docs and a purple long sleeved tee. At least sometimes.
I do not own a vest, nor have I knit one yet. So, how would I knit my very first vest? Well, the way you suggest: use my measurements (which my mom the seamstress took for me), knit my swatch, and get down to business. I would also take a class based on your book at one of my favorite yarn shops! Loopy Yarns in Chicago is offering a class wherein you get to knit a pattern from Little Red in the City! It starts on Sept. 1st. I hope I win! So, I would sign up for the class, armed with my copy of Little Red, and my prize yarn! Yeah me!
Love this pattern. I think it would look great either with dress pants for the office, or with jeans for a more casual day. Love it!
WOW! judging by all the comments, Ysolda is a well-loved designer (already knew that!).
I want to make this but longer…I’m very tall and it needs to go over my hips!!
This would be a dream win…………
I love this vest. First, I would have to knit it in red (my favorite color!). I would wear this with a white t-shirt and jeans or over a white blouse with black trousers for work. I think this piece is just so versatile.
I already purchased the book and I love it! I just wish that I had more time to knit every work of art in it!
I’d love to win the contest, but I already have the yarn in my stash to knit this — I’m dyeing the yarn with a cochineal, hopefully to get a nice red as in Ysolda’s sample. I love how she’s styled it with the plaid dress, and, as I love colour and pattern, I’d wear my Angostura with a plaid shirt and jeans or jean skirt.
P.S. I’d love to know the origin of the title for this pattern. I was fascinated to learn that “Cria” means baby alpaca.
I would be thrilled to win the contest! The above styling is great- I have a white button down with which it would look excellent. Maybe throw on a bright necklace for some color.
I love the vest! I will probably wear mine over a button shirt with a blue jean skirt of blue jeans. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a wonderful prize.
i would modify the pattern make it into a cardigan and wear it over a hoodie& mini skirt with a scarf & boots!
I live in jeans and t-shirts. This would be a perfect piece for layering in our chilly office. Love the lines of it.
This vest is the perfect garment for the SF East Bay are where I live. As an over layer on cooler days, a mid-layer on cold, foggy days, and all by itself on those wonderful warm, sunny days when we get them! I can picture making it in several colors for different seasons: spring green, warm gray for fall and winter; russet or rust for fall. Bring it on!
I am looking for a spring (almost here in New Zealand, altho’ snowing @ present!!) knitting project and this looks perfect. I would love a blue colour to match the sky and team with jeans, and long sleeve tee .
I think the Angostura would be perfect for work, where wearing a sweater usually gets too hot and just wearing a shirt is too cold. I think I’d want to knit it in green, my favorite color. :-) Love the book, by the way!
I love that this is such a versatile piece. I could wear it over a dress or skirt with boots, or with jeans and a tee. I would definitely wear this vest as an extra layer of warmth on the foggy Cental Coast of California!
How exciting!!!!
I’d wear it over a blck long-sleeved tee for a casual look and with a white blouse for more style… and a denim skirt and boots.
Colour? hummm, either red or teal…
I love the pattern on the back and the shoulders (even my modest skills could manage, this, I think)!
I’d love to make this to wear over a crisp parchment-coloured cotton skirt – vibrant colour and style with a neat, tailored look all in one.
Perfectly-paired with an accenting-colored tweed pencil skirt, hand-knit cabled knee-highs, buckle-adorned ankle boots, and a heathered grey thermal henley underneath.
I think I could wear this vest with just about anything! Dressed down with a pair of jeans or dressier with a tailored shirt. It’s looks great for layering.
I would wear it into restaurants and other public buildings in SW Fl because I get so chilly!
I’d make it in the Caramel colorway, and wear it over either a white long-sleeve tee or blue & white stripe button down with dark jeans, brown loafers and a simple silver pendant necklace–perfect for teaching French 101 this semester!
Ysolda you have hit a new high!
I have knit several of your patterns (bought all) and they are easy to follow and a pleasure to use.
I have been searching everywhere for a vest to knit…this one is a winner. Great lines and the perfect neckline.
Baby not included? What an adorable bundle!
Thanks to you and Classic Elite Yarns for the contest!
(Now pull my name/number out of that random thingy!!)
Yikes…fogot to follow the instructions in my excitement…
How I would wear the garment: often. I work as a public health nurse and our dress code is navy with white or light blue blouse. A navy vest and or blazer with navy slacks or skirt. This vest in navy would be the perfect item I have been searching for. And I would wear it most every day. On cooler days with long sleeved knit tees and blazer. On warmer days with cotton button up shirt for that classic prep look.
I would also knit this up in a fun primary and an elegant earthtone for weekend fun and the earthtone (I am fond of bronzes) would complement my silk shirt dresses for an evening out.
A great versatile pattern!
i’d wear this as a flash of color under one of my conservative suits jackets for work.
I would make the vest in either a teal blue or charcoal gray to be worn with tailored slacks to work in the winter.
With everything!
It looks so lovely in charcoal gray. I will wear it to my knitting circles with dark jeans, a button up shirt, my summerflies shawlet, and brown boots.
I would wear it my itself in the summer. Thanks, Debbie
What a nice sweater and jeans with a nice mustard yellow scarf Liberty Capel blue … I already see myself thank you for everything
What a beautiful sweater! I’d want to make it in my favorite color, turquoise. It’s wear it with a long sleeve shirt underneath, dressed up with black pants, dressed down with dark rinse jeans.
I love vests with a white buttoned blouse. It’s perfect for the office but especially my Saturday morning knitting group.
Ooooh – I think I might style mine ‘old skool’ with contrast colour at the neck, armholes and hem – maybe grey with a nice purple contrast. Lovely.
What a generous offer! I would wear the vest to work – I’m an English teacher. The vest would fit in nicely with the professional, yet casual, school attire I normally wear.
Hmmm… With a ballet wrap skirt, patterned tights, and leg warmers! I’m all about lots of light layers for early fall. Such a darling pattern!
With a lace top and jeans and ballet flats :) Love the book :)
haPPy day :) crystal
I would wear it over a button down with a pencil skirt. Cute!
with jeans of course!
I’ve been fantasizing about my angostura- I think I might make it as a cardigan, as I find them the most wearable of garments. Only problem is that if I do that I’ll eliminate the sweet cable cross just at the center neckline. I can see wearing it with a long sleeve t-shirt under it or a crisp white buttondown. Thanks for the gorgeous collection of patterns in Little Red. I love the book, and I’ve learned so much.
I’d wear it with my favorite jeans, a pair of slacks or maybe my capris… I’d have to knit several of course, that way I’d have one in a neutral color and the other I’d knit in a snazzy color like teal or magenta. I’d wear them over a nice cotton blouse. Angostura could be dressed up and worn to a business meeting or worn casual like out with friends on a Saturday nite.
I would love to knit this vest! I would wear it over a turtleneck with jeans. I am always cold in the winter, so it would be perfect!
Lynn
I love me a red vest, flashing out from under a heavy Harris Tweed-type jacket — Land Girls! Or else a lovely grey over a white shirt, pleated Royal Stewart tartan skirt, schoolgirl fashion. Gorgeous book.
I would wear it with jeans and over a plan tee so the lines take center stage!
Either way I have to have this book!
I hope to wear this on my often chilly morning commute across town. I will also share this vest with my younger sister.
I would wear to work (over a white tailored shirt) or over a thin long-sleeved tee with jeans. I’ve been looking for a vest to make myself and this one looks perfect – charcoal gray, I think.
I think I would wear it as a tank or over a 3/4 length tee.
I would use it to create a vest that fits my large arms. I usually have to do a lot of customization to vests and sweaters because of the width of my arms.
Love that sweater pattern! I’ll wear it with jeans, a skirt, long/short sleeves. Very versitile.
What a stunner! I wear sweater vests all the time at hospital– mostly my own! I would love to make one that’s a nice mustard yellow… the differentiate myself from all the blacks and greys!
I just love the sizing of the model in the shots, being a plus size gal myself. It really helps me to see the fit on someone with a few more curves… LOVE! I tend not to be a button up shirt wearer, but once I get this cute project done, It will be paired with thin long sleeve t-shirts. I’m thinking a green or gray for the project itself… I think either would suit!
I would knit and happily wear it to work boasting about the pattern and my knitting – showing that knitting is no longer old-fashioned.
Oh lovely yarn! Perfect for such a beautiful pattern. I’d knit Angostura in Mandarin to wear with my spotty red dress and granny boots. Perfect for Spring in Australia. Vests are the best!
Love this pattern and would pair it with a classic white cotton shirt. Thank you for all your wonderful designs.
I will wear it on a train. I will wear it on a plain. I will wear it when I shop and I will wear it when I bop.
Which means, I will wear it on the school run (train in NYC), on a plane back to the UK to visit family. When I shop and dance with the kids.
Pick me! Pick me!
Terri
I think I would get most use out of it at work. In the Fall, I could wear a short-sleeved cotton shirt or t-shirt and then a turtleneck in the winter time. I have a great pair of shoes that I just bought that would match the grey in the photos of this post!
I would make mine in Rossetti Purple or Metro Green and wear it over my polka dot dress!
I would love to wear a cedar green Angostura with jeans and a tshirt – it’s a beautiful vest!
Love it! I Would wear it with a pair of jeans with a long sleeve shirt underneath.
I’d wear it all winter for my extra layer. With long sleeved tees. And short ones. It doesn’t get very cold here in Texas.
I’d wear mine with a long sleeve shirt and jeans or slacks. It usually doesn’t get cold enough here for a long sleeve pullover, so a vest is perfect in the winter.
I love that vest ! I would wear it ( probably make it in red , Love red) with a my teal collar shirt ( collar is reverse ) and a black skirt 0r some jeans !
with a simple full skirt and heels!
I love this tank! I am a new knitter and plus sized – so I was very excited to find the pattern and see how gorgeous it is! I can see wearing it by itself of with a simple t-shirt under it too. Can’t wait to put it on the needles! (Have to finish my first sweater and go to Stitches first.) :)
It is not easy to find vests that flatter differently proportioned figures. This one looks perfect: the vertical lines, the beautiful details, the vneck, all combine to create a gorgeous look, on any figure. I would be very happy to try my hand at knitting this. I love wearing vests over a t at the library – just enough warmth, without being at all cumbersome.
I might just wear mine as a nice sleeveless top, then again wearing it over some of my more flowy blouses would be pretty cool too. Such a great design and so flattering :)
love the pattern, will be on my to do list. Would great to wear with jeans white shirt, down at the school gates, looking like a yummy mummy!!!
I work in a tailor shop, and this would be the perfect “tailored” piece to add to my wardrobe. Our shop is freezing in the winter and this would be perfect…still so dressy, and warm!
I love the colour of the sample knit and I would love to wear it with a white t shirt, skinny true religion jeans with white stitching and ankle height f&b silver boots, with a bunch of long silver Thomas Sabo charm necklaces and a chunky white watch. love. love. love.
I am in love with every pattern Ysolda has written. Some aren’t for me, but they’re still amazing
I want to knit this vest. no other vest has ever spoken to me like this one. I would knit it in a nice neutral to wear with all my bright blouses
I have just bought a supercute yellow gingham tunic that would look perfect with the dark grey in the pictures. Add leggings and boots and I’m away. I love this pattern!
I’d wear it to work, as a librarian, possibly leaving it in work so it could make an outfit more classy for meetings and possible working with the public!
I would most likely wear this over a button down shirt with a skirt or trousers. It’s very pretty.
I’d wear it over button-downs or long-sleeve shirts to look a little bit more professional when I’m out of my lab and TA-ing my undergrads.
I am a guy who knits.
I have a friend who saw the Angostura and went crazy over it!
So, I would make it for her as a gift. Thank You
Definitely with one of the wool skirts I’m going to make soon for fall weather… and my red shoes, of course.
I will knit it for my daughter Emma who is off to college in two weeks.
This is on my list to knit first! I want to knit some colourful ones to brighten up my standard work attire which comprises of black trousers and white shirts of various styles. Working in a beautiful but ancient government building, you can never tell how cold or warm it will be so this be my practical, but beautiful solution! And it will fit me!! Yay!!
Please, random generator, pick me! Love this versatile design.

I would make this vest in gray and wear it over a long sleeve white blouse and jeans or black slacks. I spend the winter in Florida and it would be wonderful for those slightly chilly days in January.
How would I wear my Angostura?
Let me count the ways…
I’d wear it alone, or with a scarf full of frays!
I’d wear it in red, blue, pink, or teal-
The stitch definition indeed you would feel!
I’d wear it with demin, trousers, and capris,
I’d wear it even if it draped to my knees!
Such a beautiful garment, I’d wear it with pearls-
Decked out in diamonds, I’d sport lovely red curls!
I’d wear it out, until it rips,
Even on the train, my latte I sip,
and if it spills, I’ll wear it with stains-
Until I make another, my wardrobe gains!
I’d wear it with pride, indeed everyday,
The pattern is genius, cause it’s the Ysolda way.

I love this pattern! It is on my list to knit first.
I plan to wear to to jazz up my standard work attire of black trousers and white shirts to bring colour & class to my life! Also working in a very old but beautiful government building it will be the practical but beautiful solution to dealing with the unreliable heating situation.
And I love Shanghai Red…..just saying is all! :-)
I plan to wear it as a beautiful counterpoint and bolster to a velvet jacket/blazer. That way it will be lovely indoors and out!
I love this! I would wear mine in a gorgeous purple or teal over long sleeved tops and dresses.
I would wear it over a blouse with a pretty scarf. Would look great dressed up as a work outfit too! Great giveaway :)
I would make one in a deep green and wear it over a long-sleeved, knee-length dress, with tights and knee-high boots – lovely for Autumn xx
Oooh, I’d wear it over a crisp blouse with either khakis or jeans….
Done in deep Navy blue with a crisp white cotton shirt with a sharp collar for work paired with black a pencil skirt – perhaps with a red bra underneath to discretely emphasize the ‘naughty librarian’ that I am.
I’d wear it sleeveless (no shirt underneath), with jeans and a chunky necklace.
Love it as a vest over a white shirt or even as a tank under a jacket. Definitely an item that can be dressed up or down. Love the patterns in this book!
I would wear this to work all the time, likely layered over a short sleeve shirt. Great book, and a wonderful giveaway! Thanks!
Leggings until I can get into my jeans after my op, a nice white cotton collarless shirt, and the Angostura in the True Blue.
Been to have a peek see, lovely yarn, lovely pattern.
I would wear mine at work! I am always looking for something classy to wear while keeping warm in the A/C yet cool in the summer!!
I would wear mine over a sweet little short-sleeved dress to help change from summer to fall wardrobe. I would need enough yarn for the largest size.
Great shot of the project bag!
I’d wear this over a 3/4 bell sleeved shirt that I’ve had a little trouble styling. This would do just the trick!
I would wear mine with a dress. I would totally make it in a mossy green! I love the subtle designs on it.
I would wear mine while teaching physics to 9th graders :). Lovely pattern — classic with a few modern twists!
My wardrobe is chock full of vests, but you can never have too many and the Angostura is beautiful! I would pair this with a fitted shirt dress (it’s a summer dress, but a cozy vest would bring it into the cool fall days nicely) or with a button down, my Harry Potter tie, and a corduroy skirt.
- WOULD LOVE TO KNIT THE VEST [ angostura ] – I would like to knit it longer and wear it like a smock vest over a skirt or tights with a shirt or t- shirt -think it is very versatile – am glad to see patterns like this for bigger sizes like me — a great design , as always
I would proudly wear mine in my friend’s yarn shop to show knitters that there are flattering and fashionable patterns in all sizes! I would wear it with my best curve hugging jeans, boots, and chunky jewelry. Big girls have style too!
I would love to knit Angostura in a beautiful soft neatral to wear with a long evening skirt or dressy pants, beautiful jewelry and high heels for the holidays. After it has danced its way through the holidays, I would layer it with long tees and shirts and wear it with pants, skirts and boots. It’s such a fabulous design to dress up or dress down…it’s epitomizes elegance…both casual and more formal…a true winner!!!
Thank you for your talent and generosity…some lucky knitter will be dancing at his/her good fortune if chosen as the winner!
Over a silk shirt and out to dinner!
This is wonderful! I would love to wear this in a charcoal grey over a white blouse for work, or over a black tee with jeans. It could work with anything really. Love it!
This tank would be awesome made with something shimmery and worn with a pair of dressy black pants. I absolutely love this pattern!
I would wear mine with jeans and a t-shirt- to work on a Friday~
I haven’t worn vests before, but looking at this vest I can’t wait! I will wear Angostura over a plain white shirt or t, and with my everyday uniform of jeans and birkis. Thanks for the competition.
What a classic look! How about over a tee with a denim skirt.
thanks for the contest!
Would knit it in a bright color to spruce up my monochrome wardrobe!
I would knit this in a light colour like white, off-white, cream or a soft yellow to go with my dark shirts. A beautiful handknitted vest to wear to work. :-)
