To be honest I thought that I’d finished knitting shawls for a while, surely there are only so many that one person can use? But something about the changing weather has made me want to knit them again, not that I really took much convincing to join in the Sherilyn KAL fun!
I think its easily my favourite of Ysolda’s shawl patterns, and the lovely version I knit in Old Maident Aunt BFL 4ply is sadly no more since I accidentally left it in a cafe on the other side of the world. I’ve been thinking for a while that my precious skein of Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace would be an amazing Sherilyn. Time to make that dream come true!
But knowing how addictive the pattern is, I don’t think it’ll be enough. I have a new grey coat which I plan to customise a little by replacing the boring grey buttons with some excellent vintage red-wine coloured ones I’ve been hoarding for a while. I’ve decided that this outfit is going to require a new shawl, and this beauty I spotted in The Woolly Brew at the weekend is perfect. Behold the loveliness that is Yarn Pony Mustang in Forest Fruit! It’s a fingering weight superwash merino that isn’t available online quite yet, though it can be found in a couple of our local yarn shops and at events that the dyer, Mica, attends.
On the day the KAL starts I’ll be relaxing in a little croft in Shetland with knitting buddies, I can’t wait!
