Beautiful Projects – Rhinebeck Sweaters

October 13, 2016

It’s that time of year again! My instagram feed is suddenly full of knitters weaving in ends, blocking, or frantically trying to finish their Rhinebeck sweaters. The New York State Sheep and Wool Festival is held this weekend at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, New York and Ysolda is on her way! If you’re going say hello if you see her, and have a wonderful time.

For this week it seemed only right to look back at some the wonderful projects you’ve made from the book, The Rhinebeck Sweater. It’s a collection of 12 beautiful garments by Ysolda and eleven designer friends, including Gudrun Johnston, Mary-Jane Mucklestone and Laura Nelkin. And through the whole month of October, you can get 20% off using the coupon code ‘sheepandwool.’

I love this autumnal Pippin, knit by pandacita in Green Mountain Spinnery Weekend Wool.

Pumpkin Ale seems like a perfect knitting festival sweater to me – with pockets for change and an intricate back panel that will help you get spotted in the distance! This lovely version was knit by wildemoose.

Jenny at the Fair is a great design to play around with colour. There are some stunning colour palettes on Ravelry but I particularly like the muted, but fun tones of this one by knitosaurusrex.

Mulberry Street is a fun sweater with a cute back detail, ideal for showing off an awesome print on whatever you’re wearing underneath. I love this version by TeaKnitPurl. The sweater uses two yarns held together, and the solid base and variegated laceweight that she chose work together so well.

And finally, another gorgeous Pumpkin Ale, this time knit by Lateniteknittr. If I spotted someone wearing a cabled sweater in this colour I’d probably have to stop them to ask about it! So beautiful.
